GameAtlas 2.5.0

GameAtlas 2.5 makes everyday navigation and troubleshooting clearer on Windows and Linux. The game page is easier to scan, loading feedback is less intrusive, library health is easier to interpret, and players can choose a saved light or dark theme. Linux also gains a redesigned Nexus Mods workflow, a Vortex-familiar Mod Manager, a readiness overview, clearer Proton tools, and safer performance tuning.

Highlights

  • A cleaner game page with responsive section navigation, sections that start collapsed for each newly selected game, and a symptom-guided Troubleshooting area.
  • Clearer library-health and game-data status, with a direct path to games that have not yet been assessed.
  • More useful per-source loading feedback that minimizes itself during longer loads.
  • Improved text readability, keyboard focus visibility, and a persistent light/dark theme setting.
  • On Linux, a persistent Nexus download queue, reorganized Mod Manager, Linux Readiness overview, improved Proton Toolbox, and safer launch-option editing.

GameAtlas interface — Windows and Linux

Game-page navigation and troubleshooting

  • The sticky game-page navigation uses compact section buttons on wide screens and a grouped Jump to selector when space is limited, avoiding a horizontally scrolling navigation bar.
  • Game sections start collapsed when a different game is opened. Open sections still provide their full information and tools; their expanded state no longer carries over from the previous game.
  • Technical & Troubleshooting now starts with a What is going wrong? guide. Choose a launch, crash, performance, or controller symptom to see relevant checks and jump directly to them. The guide does not run diagnostics automatically.
  • The full set of diagnostic tools remains available under All troubleshooting tools, keeping advanced options accessible without overwhelming the initial view.

Library and mod layout

  • The library dashboard now distinguishes Game Data Fresh from Health Assessed. External data freshness is not presented as a game-installation health result.
  • Games without a Diagnostics Center assessment are called out separately, with Review unchecked games leading to the relevant library list and game health check.
  • The library-wide install-path scan is labeled as an advanced local scan, separate from per-game health assessments.
  • The Mods area keeps its main status and mod-manager actions prominent while placing compatibility and local-detection details behind View compatibility and local evidence. Tool launchers and shortcuts have their own collapsible area.
  • Library Filters remain collapsed by default in the sidebar and show when filters are active.

Loading, readability, and appearance

  • Game-page loading now reports how many data sources have finished and identifies sources that could not load, without implying that a partially completed process is a precise percentage.
  • Loading details can be minimized manually and automatically become a compact status after a longer wait; game details remain usable while background work continues.
  • Small metadata and badges have a more readable minimum text size, faint labels have stronger contrast, and keyboard focus is more visible.
  • Settings → Appearance now offers Dark and Light themes. The choice applies immediately throughout the app and is saved for future launches.

Linux-specific improvements

Nexus Mods and the Linux Mod Manager

  • Reworked the Nexus flow around Mod Manager Download → receive in GameAtlas → stage → review → deploy.
  • Added a persistent NXM download queue, improved game matching, and confirmation when a destination is uncertain. Invalid or expired links no longer block later requests.
  • Added clearer download phases, progress, cancellation, recovery guidance, and partial-download cleanup.
  • Added guided browser-download staging when a direct Nexus download is unavailable to the connected account.
  • Clarified connection status, hourly and daily quotas, reset timing, unsupported files, provenance, and update review.
  • Reorganized the Linux Mod Manager into Mods, Downloads & Staging, Rules & Conflicts, and Profiles, with an at-a-glance profile, deployment, and conflict summary.
  • Nexus downloads remain staged separately from installed mods until deployment is reviewed. Existing preview, backup, verification, repair, rollback, and transactional-upgrade safeguards remain in place.

Readiness, Proton, and performance

  • Added a Linux Readiness overview for the selected game's runtime, launcher, Proton or Wine prefix, graphics stack, storage, and optional tools. Ready, review, and partial states link to appropriate next actions.
  • Reorganized Proton Toolbox into Check setup, Open tools & folders, Diagnose & recover, and Change Proton version, with clearer descriptions of read-only and potentially disruptive actions.
  • Added four focused performance presets: Compatibility first, Balanced, Smooth 60 FPS, and Performance monitor. Presets use detected tools and do not silently enable experimental HDR, Wayland, or scaling options.
  • Added a dedicated Steam launch-option editor that separates current options, recommendations, and the draft; preserves arguments around %command%; validates conflicting or risky entries; and shows changes before saving. Steam configuration changes include stale-data checks and automatic backups.
  • Linux storage now reports the filesystem containing the game, its capacity, free space, and usage where available, instead of misleading unknown or zero values.

Dependency guidance and accessibility

  • Missing MangoHud, GameMode, Gamescope, Protontricks, Winetricks, and archive tools now produce feature-specific guidance, copyable commands for common distributions, and a recheck action. Flatpak-aware Protontricks guidance is included. GameAtlas never runs privileged package commands automatically.
  • Linux tools use more consistent loading, success, warning, error, and unavailable states, with clearer announcements for downloads, clipboard actions, background checks, and completed operations.
  • Updated Linux workflows have improved keyboard labeling and behavior, reduced-motion support, and explanatory status text so meaning is not conveyed by color alone.

Important notes

  • The Nexus Mods connection remains a testing integration using a personal API key for the current session. A public release flow requires the Nexus-approved application authentication process. API keys and short-lived NXM credentials are kept in memory for the current session.
  • Direct Nexus downloads depend on account permissions; browser-download staging is available when a direct link is unavailable.
  • FOMOD installers and Nexus Collections are not supported by the Linux Mod Manager in 2.5. GameAtlas does not execute installers or scripts found in downloaded mod files.
  • RAR and 7z inspection and extraction require compatible lsar and unar tools. Windows players should continue using the official Vortex application for full Nexus mod management.
  • Close a game before deploying or purging mods, restoring files, resetting configuration, or changing files the game may be using.

GameAtlas is an independent third-party application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nexus Mods.

Privacy

GameAtlas contains no advertising, analytics, or telemetry. Most analysis is performed locally. Network-backed features connect directly to their named services, and diagnostic data is never uploaded automatically. See the privacy notice for details.

GameAtlas 2.4.0

GameAtlas 2.4 expands troubleshooting and performance analysis across both Windows and Linux while introducing a new managed mod workflow for Linux players. This release focuses on actionable diagnostics, safer recovery tools, repeatable performance comparisons, and closer feature parity between native Windows games, native Linux games, and Windows games running through Proton or Wine.

Highlights

  • A coordinated Diagnostics Center with prioritized findings and links to focused tools.
  • Crash, launch, display, runtime, configuration, and mod-conflict diagnostics on Windows and Linux.
  • Repeatable performance captures with PresentMon on Windows and MangoHud on Linux.
  • Per-game performance history, scene labels, baselines, and regression comparisons.
  • Verified configuration backups, Safe Reset, and restore workflows.
  • A Linux-only managed mod library with safe archive staging, profiles, conflict resolution, and reversible deployment.
  • A testing integration with Nexus Mods for metadata, downloads, NXM links, provenance, and update checks.

Windows

Diagnostics Center

  • Reworked Game Health into a coordinated Diagnostics Center.
  • Runs installation, performance, graphics-driver, display, crash, runtime, configuration, background-application, and controller checks.
  • Prioritizes findings by severity and provides direct navigation to the relevant troubleshooting tool.
  • Keeps potentially destructive or state-changing actions separate from read-only analysis.

Crash Detective

  • Searches recent Windows Application Error and Application Hang records for the selected game.
  • Reports timestamps, exception codes, faulting modules, and cautious troubleshooting guidance.
  • Recognizes common graphics-driver, overlay, injector, runtime, DirectX, and Windows-system modules without treating the faulting module as definitive proof of the root cause.

Display, HDR, and refresh-rate validation

  • Reads active Windows display configuration, resolution, refresh rate, color depth, and HDR state.
  • Identifies available higher refresh rates, mixed-refresh multi-monitor setups, and HDR configuration concerns.
  • Includes per-game Windows GPU-preference context when available.

Runtime and Dependency Doctor

  • Inspects the game executable and installation for Visual C++ runtimes, legacy DirectX components, OpenAL, .NET Framework, XNA, and bundled repair installers.
  • Distinguishes detected requirements from general recommendations and avoids presenting every bundled installer as required.
  • Reports executable architecture and potential dependency mismatches.

Performance Capture

  • Adds bundled PresentMon-based frame capture for Windows.
  • Reports average FPS, 1% low FPS, frame-time percentiles, spike frequency, and a condensed frame-time graph.
  • Stores raw CSV captures locally.
  • Adds per-game capture history, custom scene labels, scene-specific baselines, and automatic comparison labels for improvements or possible regressions.
  • Includes PresentMon licensing information with the application.

Game Configuration Validator

  • Validates supported JSON, XML, and INI configuration files.
  • Detects malformed structure, duplicate INI values, read-only files, and implausible graphics or display settings.
  • Avoids displaying or uploading arbitrary configuration contents.

Configuration Backup and Safe Reset

  • Creates verified, per-game configuration backups.
  • Safely renames current configuration files so the game can generate clean defaults.
  • Creates a safety backup before reset or restore operations.
  • Verifies backup hashes and rolls back earlier changes when an operation cannot complete safely.

Launch Failure Analyzer

  • Launches the current default profile while monitoring whether the expected game process appears and survives startup.
  • Distinguishes immediate exits, early exits, missing processes, successful startup, and user cancellation.
  • Correlates a failed launch with Crash Detective, Runtime Doctor, and Configuration Validator evidence.
  • Stopping the monitor never closes the game.

Mod Conflict and DLL Inspector

  • Inventories DLLs, injectors, native plug-ins, and common mod frameworks.
  • Recognizes BepInEx, MelonLoader, REFramework, UE4SS, ReShade, Special K, OptiScaler, Script Hook, RTX Remix, RenoDX, and ASI plug-ins.
  • Checks mod-binary architecture, zero-byte files, proxy entry points, and differing duplicate DLL fingerprints.
  • Provides a searchable inventory and direct access to file locations without modifying game files.

Linux

Cross-platform diagnostics

The core 2.4 diagnostic tools now include Linux-native implementations instead of simply hiding their Windows counterparts:

  • Crash Detective reads existing systemd-coredump metadata and matches records against native or Proton game executables.
  • Display Validator uses available KDE/KScreen, XRandR, and Linux DRM information to report active resolution, refresh rates, multi-monitor differences, and HDR state where the desktop exposes it.
  • Runtime and Dependency Doctor inspects native ELF dependencies, launcher scripts, host library availability, Windows PE imports, Proton/Wine prefixes, and relevant repair tooling such as Protontricks.
  • Configuration Validator and Recovery resolve native Linux and Proton configuration paths and provide the same validation, verified backup, Safe Reset, and restore safeguards.
  • Launch Failure Analyzer monitors native processes and Proton/Wine process handoffs, then correlates early exits with Linux crash, runtime, and configuration evidence.
  • Mod Conflict and Binary Inspector supports both Windows PE DLLs used by Proton games and native Linux shared objects, including architecture checks.
  • System Performance Diagnostics report Linux CPU, memory, storage, graphics, Vulkan, GameMode, MangoHud, and Gamescope context where available.

MangoHud performance capture

  • Adds Linux performance capture using MangoHud logging and control interfaces.
  • Uses the same history, scene labels, baselines, regression comparisons, graphs, and local CSV storage as the Windows capture workflow.
  • Minimizes GameAtlas while capturing so the game can continue rendering, then restores the application after MangoHud finalizes the capture.
  • Integrates with the existing per-game Linux Performance launch-option workflow.

Background conflicts, Clean Launch, and shader cache

  • Adds Linux-aware background-application and overlay detection.
  • Extends Clean Launch with platform-appropriate process handling and restoration safeguards.
  • Expands shader-cache discovery and cleanup for Linux, Steam, Proton, and graphics-driver cache locations while preserving confirmation and scope checks.

GameAtlas Linux Mod Manager

GameAtlas 2.4 introduces a Linux-only managed mod workflow intended for players who cannot use the official Windows Vortex application.

  • Uses a per-game staging library under ~/Games/VortexMods/<Game Name>/.
  • Imports local folders and ZIP, RAR, or 7z archives.
  • Validates archives for unsafe paths, links, special files, excessive entry counts, excessive extracted size, and case-colliding paths.
  • Provides a deployment preview before files are changed.
  • Detects common archive wrappers and Unreal Engine .pak destinations.
  • Supports multiple installed mods, enable/disable controls, priority ordering, and managed conflict resolution.
  • Preserves payloads and overwritten files for reversible removal and repair.
  • Supports purge, redeploy, verification, and repair operations.
  • Adds named mod profiles.
  • Stores mod name, version, author, source, notes, provenance, and deployment state.
  • Supports transactional upgrades while preserving priority, enabled state, profiles, and recovery data.

Nexus Mods testing integration

  • Connects for the current session with a personal Nexus Mods API key.
  • Looks up mod-page metadata and available files.
  • Handles nxm:// Mod Manager Download links and routes them to the selected game.
  • Downloads eligible archives directly from a Nexus-provided HTTPS mirror into the staging library.
  • Saves Nexus mod, file, version, and source provenance with managed deployments.
  • Detects newer compatible Nexus files and guides transactional upgrades.
  • Displays hourly and daily request quotas with low-quota protection and reset guidance.
  • Keeps API keys and short-lived NXM credentials in memory rather than writing them to disk.

This Nexus connection remains a testing integration. A public release flow will require the Nexus-approved application authentication process. GameAtlas is an independent third-party application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nexus Mods.

Shared improvements

  • Improved platform-aware game launching and local path resolution for native games and Proton/Wine installations.
  • Expanded safety limits, validation, recovery behavior, and user-facing explanations around file-changing operations.
  • Added clearer distinctions between observed evidence, possible contributors, and confirmed failures.
  • Added an MIT license and a dedicated privacy notice covering local data, diagnostics, third-party connections, Nexus credentials, and retention.
  • Updated application documentation for the expanded Windows and Linux feature set.

Optional Linux dependencies

  • MangoHud is required for Linux performance capture.
  • Gamescope and GameMode remain optional performance tools.
  • coredumpctl / systemd-coredump is required for Crash Detective to return system crash records.
  • KScreen, XRandR, or DRM display data determines how much display and HDR information can be reported.
  • lsar and unar are used for RAR and 7z archive inspection and extraction, including through the Bazzite host when ava...

Choose a tag to compare

@GreatDanish1026 GreatDanish1026 released this 17 Sep 18:51

GameAtlas 2.3.0

GameAtlas 2.3.0 focuses on speed, responsiveness, and a clearer everyday experience. Game discovery and game pages now do less blocking work, expensive diagnostics run only when requested, and the main screens have been reorganized without removing existing information or tools.

Highlights

Faster startup

  • Installed-game discovery now uses cached library data immediately while refreshing in the background.
  • Launcher scans run in parallel where supported, reducing the time spent waiting at launch.
  • Duplicate work during startup has been reduced.
  • The landing screen becomes usable sooner while updated results continue loading.

Faster, more responsive game pages

  • PCGamingWiki requests are cached, deduplicated, time-limited, and performed concurrently where possible.
  • Previously loaded PCGamingWiki data can be reused instead of being downloaded again for every visit.
  • Compatibility, performance, graphics, and technical information no longer block the entire page while loading.
  • Hardware detection is shared and cached across sections rather than repeatedly querying the system.
  • Expensive local inspections and Windows diagnostics run away from the interface thread, preventing temporary hangs.

Improved Game-page experience

  • Reorganized cards and sections into a more logical order.
  • Reworked the section navigator so it adapts to available screen width instead of requiring horizontal scrolling.
  • Reduced visual overload while preserving every existing feature and piece of information.
  • Controller details are now loaded only when the Controller Support section is opened.
  • Loading feedback is less intrusive and no longer blocks navigation unnecessarily.

Diagnostics are now on demand

Opening Technical & Troubleshooting no longer launches every diagnostic automatically. The following tools now run only when selected:

  • Windows performance diagnostics
  • Background-conflict scan
  • Clean-launch options
  • Shader-cache inspection
  • Graphics-driver diagnostics
  • Local technical detection

Existing results, actions, and rescan controls remain available.

Refreshed landing screen

  • Improved visual hierarchy and spacing.
  • Clearer library overview and status information.
  • More useful insights and shortcuts without crowding the initial view.
  • Improved responsive behavior at narrower window sizes.

More reliable update checks

  • Update metadata containing a UTF-8 byte-order mark is now handled correctly.
  • GameAtlas now distinguishes between the current published version and a development build that is newer than the latest public release.
  • Missing or invalid signed platform entries produce a useful error instead of an incorrect “latest version” result.
  • Signed updater installation continues to use Tauri's signature verification.

Simplified signed release builds

  • Added one self-contained PowerShell release script for Windows.
  • Added one self-contained shell release script for Linux.
  • Both scripts securely prompt for the updater signing-key password.
  • Both scripts build signed updater artifacts and generate a validated, BOM-free latest.json.
  • Windows and Linux metadata can be merged into the same multi-platform updater manifest.

Platform packages

Windows

Download and run the x64 setup executable from the release assets.

Linux and Bazzite

Download the x86-64 AppImage, make it executable, and launch it:

chmod +x GameAtlas_2.3.0_x86_64.AppImage
./GameAtlas_2.3.0_x86_64.AppImage

Upgrading

No library or settings migration is required. Install 2.3.0 over the existing version or use GameAtlas's signed update prompt when it is available.

Notes for existing users

  • The first library refresh may still take longer than later launches because GameAtlas must create its local cache.
  • Technical scans intentionally remain idle until you choose to run them.
  • No game information, diagnostics, or management functionality was removed in this release.

@GreatDanish1026 GreatDanish1026 released this 11 Sep 14:31

GameAtlas v2.0.0 — Linux Support

GameAtlas 2.0 introduces the first supported Linux experience while preserving the existing Windows application and upgrade identity.

Linux launcher support

GameAtlas can discover and integrate installed games from:

  • Steam
  • Heroic Games Launcher — Epic
  • Heroic Games Launcher — GOG
  • Lutris

Linux library sources are merged into the same GameAtlas library used by the existing desktop experience.

Steam & Proton

GameAtlas 2.0 adds Linux Steam library discovery and Proton awareness, including:

  • multiple Steam library folders
  • native Linux game detection
  • Proton / Windows-runtime detection
  • Proton prefix discovery
  • installed Proton and custom compatibility tool awareness
  • conservative handling of Steam automatic/default Proton selection
  • fast bounded executable-header checks

Steam games launch through Steam so existing Steam compatibility settings remain authoritative.

Proton-aware paths

PCGamingWiki configuration and save paths can now resolve into an exact Steam Proton prefix.

Supported mappings include common Windows locations such as:

  • %USERPROFILE%
  • %APPDATA%
  • %LOCALAPPDATA%
  • Documents
  • Saved Games
  • C:\...

Linux path separator handling is also normalized for PCGamingWiki values containing Windows separators.

Save tools

Save Backups and Save Browser are Proton-aware.

Linux save backup support includes:

  • ZIP backup creation
  • ZIP restore
  • retention
  • pre-restore safety backups
  • pre-launch backup compatibility

Heroic

GameAtlas integrates Heroic-installed Epic and GOG games.

The integration includes:

  • installed-game discovery
  • correct GOG title metadata resolution
  • Heroic/GOG cover artwork
  • launch delegation back to Heroic

GameAtlas delegates launching to Heroic so the launcher remains authoritative for the selected Wine/Proton runner and per-game configuration.

Lutris

GameAtlas integrates installed Lutris games, including:

  • native and Flatpak Lutris detection
  • Distrobox-to-host execution support
  • game name, path, service and runner metadata
  • cover art
  • launch delegation through Lutris

Lutris discovery is optimized to use one detected backend, and Linux Steam/Heroic/Lutris scans run concurrently.

Launch Profiles

Linux Launch Profiles support:

  • standard launcher profiles
  • native Linux direct executables/scripts
  • Proton .exe profiles
  • installed custom Proton / GE-Proton discovery
  • per-profile custom Proton overrides

Linux local inspection & hardware

GameAtlas 2.0 adds:

  • native Linux executable / ELF inspection
  • Linux CPU, memory and OS reporting
  • Linux GPU detection with host fallback for Distrobox
  • platform-neutral OS labels

Scope

The validated Linux 2.0 launcher targets are Steam, Heroic Epic/GOG, and Lutris.

Bottles and Heroic Amazon/Nile support are intentionally not part of the validated 2.0 scope.

Xbox / Microsoft Store integration remains Windows-only.

Windows continuity

GameAtlas 2.0 preserves the existing Windows code paths and keeps the existing Tauri application identifier:

com.greatdanish.gamemanager

This identifier must remain unchanged so installed GameAtlas versions retain upgrade continuity.

GameAtlas v1.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@GreatDanish1026 GreatDanish1026 released this 10 Sep 15:29

GameAtlas v1.6.0 — Personalization, Tracking & Workflow

GameAtlas v1.6.0 focuses on making the library more useful day-to-day: richer personal organization, launch workflows, version/change tracking, compatibility notes, manual games, and a substantially cleaner game-details experience.

Highlights

Launch Profiles

Each game can now have multiple launch profiles such as:

  • Normal
  • Modded
  • Benchmark
  • custom profiles

Profiles can use the standard launcher or a direct executable with custom arguments and working directory. A profile can be selected as the default so the main Play Game action uses it automatically.

Play Status & Personal Notes

Track where you are with each game using:

  • Not Started
  • Playing
  • Completed
  • On Hold
  • Dropped
  • Replay

Each game can also store personal progress and notes.

Recent Activity & Launch History

GameAtlas records game launches and shows recent activity, including:

  • launch time
  • launch profile
  • launch mode
  • launcher/direct-executable method

Personal Ratings

Games can be rated from 1–5 stars.

For Steam titles, GameAtlas can also retrieve Steam review totals and calculate a SteamDB-style community rating locally without scraping SteamDB.

Game Card Status Badges

Library cards can now surface useful at-a-glance status such as:

  • Playing / Completed / other active play status
  • last launch
  • non-default launch profile
  • recent detected changes

Compact library mode keeps the presentation intentionally minimal.

Manual Games

Games that are not detected through a supported launcher can now be added manually.

Manual entries support:

  • game name
  • executable
  • install path
  • normal GameAtlas game-detail features where applicable

Game Version Tracking

GameAtlas can track version signals over time.

For Steam games this includes the local Steam build ID, plus executable ProductVersion/FileVersion where available.

For other launchers and manually added games, GameAtlas uses local executable metadata and fingerprints when possible.

A manual version override is also available for games that do not expose useful version information.

Change History

GameAtlas can record meaningful local changes detected between inspections, including executable, graphics-technology, storage, save, screenshot, and mod-state signals.

Mod Change Timeline

Mod-related Change History entries now have a dedicated timeline inside Mods & Enhancements.

Tracked signals currently include local evidence for:

  • ReShade
  • ReShade preset changes
  • Special K
  • Vortex
  • Fluffy Mod Manager

Compatibility & Known-Good Setup

Each game can store a personally verified configuration including:

  • resolution
  • graphics preset
  • target / observed FPS
  • upscaling
  • Frame Generation
  • ray tracing
  • HDR
  • game version
  • driver version
  • notes
  • verified date

GameAtlas also provides a conservative System Compatibility Estimate based on detected hardware and known game capabilities.

The estimate is intentionally expressed as broad capability-fit tiers instead of pretending to predict an exact FPS.

Save Browser

Expanded save-game tooling makes it easier to inspect detected save data alongside the existing backup/restore system.

Game File Utilities

Additional local-file utilities were added for working with installed games.

PCGamingWiki Steam Path Resolution

PCGamingWiki paths containing Steam userdata placeholders can now resolve against local Steam userdata directories more reliably.

Game Screen Redesign

As the number of game-level tools grew, the old details page became increasingly difficult to navigate.

v1.6 reorganizes the screen into eight main destinations:

  1. Overview
  2. Compatibility & Performance
  3. Graphics & PC Features
  4. Mods & Enhancements
  5. Files & Installation
  6. Saves & Screenshots
  7. Technical & Troubleshooting
  8. My Game

A sticky section navigator provides quick jumps between these areas.

Related panels are grouped together, most secondary sections start collapsed, and redundant technical information has been removed while preserving the underlying functionality.

Reliability & UX

  • Existing v1.5 and earlier user data remains under the established game-manager-* persistence keys.
  • New v1.6 settings and histories persist per game.
  • Patch/update work preserved the existing Tauri application identifier to maintain upgrade continuity.
  • Game-detail organization now scales better as more features are added.
  • Automatic tracking is conservative to avoid filling histories with unchanged duplicate entries.

Supported Launchers

GameAtlas continues to support installed-game detection for:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games
  • GOG Galaxy
  • Ubisoft Connect
  • EA App
  • Xbox / Microsoft Store

Manually added games can be used for titles outside those launchers.

Platform

Windows

Linux / Proton support remains planned for a future major release.

@GreatDanish1026 GreatDanish1026 released this 09 Sep 18:44

GameAtlas v1.4.0 — Backup, Diagnostics & Updater Improvements

GameAtlas v1.4.0 focuses on practical quality-of-life improvements to save backups, support diagnostics, and the in-app update experience.

What's New

Saved View Rename

User-created Saved Views can now be renamed directly in GameAtlas.

  • Rename existing user-created Saved Views
  • Saved View IDs and filter definitions remain unchanged
  • Blank and duplicate names are rejected
  • Built-in presets remain unchanged

Per-Game Backup Retention

Save backups now support per-game retention controls.

Available retention choices:

  • Unlimited
  • Keep newest 5
  • Keep newest 10
  • Keep newest 20
  • Keep newest 50

Retention applies to normal manual backups. Restore Safety and Pre-Launch backups are protected from normal retention pruning.

A Clean Up Now action is also available for explicitly removing old manual backups beyond the selected retention limit.

Backup Notes

Manual backups can now include an optional note.

Examples:

  • Before installing a graphics mod
  • Known-good save before a boss fight
  • Before changing game settings

Backup notes can be edited or removed later and are stored as GameAtlas metadata without modifying the backup ZIP.

Per-Game Pre-Launch Backup Control

The Save Backup Manager now includes a per-game Pre-Launch Backup option.

This lets individual games override the global backup-before-launch preference while preserving the existing pre-launch backup workflow.

Diagnostics Support Bundle

The Diagnostics screen can now create a sanitized ZIP support bundle.

A support bundle can include:

  • application diagnostics
  • system/hardware summary
  • launcher status
  • external-service status
  • Library Analysis summary
  • Installation Health summary
  • backup-storage summary
  • existing small GameAtlas log files when available
  • a privacy/readme manifest

Support bundles intentionally exclude game installation paths, save paths, backup archives, backup filenames, user tags, Saved View names, account identifiers, updater private keys, and signing passwords.

Updater UX Improvements

The signed Tauri updater has received a substantial UI improvement.

Updates now provide:

  • clearer release notes
  • release date when available
  • explicit Downloading, Installing, and Ready to Restart states
  • percentage and byte-level download progress
  • retry after a failed update
  • Restart GameAtlas after installation
  • Remind Me Later
  • Skip This Version

Skipping is exact-version only. Skipping one release does not prevent a newer release from appearing.

Manual update checks can still reveal a version that was previously skipped.

Full Release Notes in the Updater

The release pipeline now places the full release-notes Markdown into latest.json, allowing the in-app updater's What's New section to show the actual release notes instead of only a version number.

Compatibility & Data Continuity

GameAtlas v1.4.0 preserves the existing application identity and user-data continuity.

The release retains:

  • Tauri identifier com.greatdanish.gamemanager
  • existing updater signing identity
  • existing updater endpoint
  • existing game-manager-* preference and metadata keys
  • existing GameManager application-data / backup root
  • Favorites
  • Tags
  • Hidden games
  • Saved Views
  • settings
  • Library Analysis data
  • backup data

Deferred for Future Releases

The following planned work was intentionally deferred rather than rushed into v1.4.0:

  • backup scheduling
  • persistent diagnostics logging and timing history
  • additional Saved View / filtering work

Platform

GameAtlas v1.4.0 continues to target Windows.

Linux support remains planned for GameAtlas v2.0.0.

GameAtlas v1.3.0

@GreatDanish1026 GreatDanish1026 released this 09 Sep 17:08

GameAtlas v1.3.0 — Expanded Launcher Support & Library Intelligence

GameAtlas v1.3.0 expands launcher support, improves library management, and adds stronger library-wide analysis and installation health tools.

Highlights

EA App Support

GameAtlas now includes EA App integration with support for:

  • detecting installed EA App games
  • handling EA registry edge cases
  • improved discovery for titles with unusual install metadata
  • duplicate/noise filtering
  • launching supported EA titles through the EA App
  • isolated per-launcher rescanning

Xbox / Microsoft Store Support

This release adds first-pass Xbox / Microsoft Store integration for Windows.

GameAtlas can now:

  • detect supported Microsoft Store / Xbox games using MicrosoftGame.config
  • identify launchable package AUMIDs
  • launch supported games through Windows package registration
  • filter the library by Xbox / Microsoft Store
  • rescan Xbox / Microsoft Store games independently
  • report Xbox app / Gaming Services status in the launcher overview

Xbox / Microsoft Store discovery is intentionally conservative to avoid treating ordinary Store apps as games. Some older UWP titles may not yet be detected.

Per-Launcher Rescanning

Launcher cards can now rescan their own libraries independently without replacing games from other launchers.

Supported launcher rescans include:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Launcher
  • EA App
  • GOG Galaxy
  • Ubisoft Connect
  • Xbox / Microsoft Store

Library Entry Overrides

Detected library entries can now be corrected without modifying the underlying launcher data.

Overrides can adjust:

  • game name
  • store
  • launcher ID
  • install path

Improved Library Filtering & Sorting

v1.3.0 expands library controls with:

  • Store filtering
  • Name A–Z
  • Name Z–A
  • Favorites First
  • Store
  • Analyzed First
  • Unanalyzed First

Saved Views also retain the expanded filter and sorting state.

Built-In Saved View Presets

New built-in presets make it faster to surface useful groups of games:

  • HDR Games
  • Ray Tracing
  • Frame Generation
  • Modding Friendly
  • Needs Install Attention
  • EA App Games
  • Unanalyzed Games

Installation Health Center

The new Library Health Center can analyze installation readiness across the entire library.

Features include:

  • batch installation health scanning
  • progress tracking
  • scan cancellation
  • cached results to avoid unnecessary repeat work
  • Force Fresh Scan
  • health categories:
    • Excellent
    • Good
    • Needs Attention
    • Incomplete
  • direct navigation to affected games

Library Analysis Persistence

Library Analysis results now persist correctly across application restarts.

Graphics and Mods & Enhancements totals are restored from saved analysis data instead of being reset by a fresh library scan.

This includes persisted results for capabilities such as:

  • HDR
  • Ray Tracing
  • Frame Generation
  • Ultrawide
  • 4K
  • 120+ FPS
  • Upscaling
  • RenoDX
  • Luma
  • Vortex
  • Fluffy Mod Manager

Compatibility & Data Continuity

GameAtlas v1.3.0 preserves the existing application identity and user-data keys used by previous releases.

The Tauri application identifier remains:
