Version 0.9.4 of the Android port of ZeldaWWHDRecomp: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Wii U, USA, Europe and Japan) as a native Android app.

The app contains no game files. You need your own dump of the game: the disc image (.wux or .wud) with its disc key and the Wii U common key, or a Cemu archive (.wua) made from it. On the first start the app extracts the game and prepares the game code for your device (once; a few minutes on a fast phone, longer on slower ones).

What's new

  • Save states, much more convenient: saving no longer stops the game (only for a few hundredths of a second), and a state loads anywhere: in the game, at the title screen or the file select. New in Options › Saves:
    • Auto save every 2, 5 or 10 minutes into two slots of its own.
    • A Last session state, taken when you leave the app or quit.
    • At start: the intro as usual, a choice of your save states, or straight back into the last session.
  • Mod packs (Mods › Mod packs): import Cemu graphic packs (for example from GameBanana or GitHub) and plain game file mods from .zip and .rar files. Code patches, game file replacements, shader replacements and texture filtering rules work. A code patch only applies to the game version it was made for. Turning packs on or off takes effect after a restart, which the menu now offers when you leave it. If the game doesn't start any more with a pack, the crash dialog offers Start without mod packs.
  • Shader head start: the app now knows which shaders the game uses and prepares them in the background on the first start, so first visits to places stutter much less. The template contains no game code: the app finds the shader programs in your own game files. The shader cache also drops shaders that haven't been used for a while, so it stays small and starts fast.
  • New mods:
    • Jump anywhere: jump from standing or running, with an optional double jump and without the automatic ledge jumps. Press L to jump. Button will be configurable in one of the next updates.
    • Faster climbing (ladders, vines, hanging on ledges) and faster sidling, 1.25× to 4×, like faster running and swimming.
    • The moon jump moved from the cheats to the mods.
  • New cheats: fill the bags, infinite rupees, infinite bait and spoils, infinite swimming.
  • Invert camera up/down (Controls), for first person and aiming or always. Thanks to Abssenta for pull request #42!
  • GameCube saves: Import saves now also takes .gci files (USA, Europe and Japan) and turns them into the HD game save. Export saves writes everything into one backup file, which Import saves takes back. Setup and Import saves can also pick the files themselves, for devices whose folder picker shows no folders.
  • Dual-screen devices (AYN Thor and the like): the GamePad screens (items, map, bottles) now fill a second screen of another shape, such as the Thor's lower screen. Graphics › GamePad picture brings back the original 16:9.
  • The options menu fits phone screens.
  • Fix from the original project: with Quick doors on, leaving a Forbidden Woods spore room no longer halts the game.
  • New defaults (only if you never changed these settings): the controls act as a Wii U Pro Controller, the screen layout is TV only (GamePad inset on dual-screen devices), and the game starts with the intro.

Install

  1. Requirements: Android 11 or newer, 64-bit ARM, Vulkan 1.1, about 2 GB of free storage.
  2. Download tloz_tww_hd_recomp-0.9.4.apk and install it. It updates 0.9.3 in place and keeps your saves and settings. The game code is prepared once more after the update (about 6 minutes on a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, longer on slower phones).
  3. New install: put your disc image and both keys, or your .wua file, in one folder. Start the app, choose Extract from your disc image or .wua… and select that folder (or the files themselves).

Frame generation needs the usual Lossless.dll from your own copy of Lossless Scaling. Buy it, don't pirate it like Gonzo would.

Everything else is in the README.
