Snapzy Camera is an unofficial community fork of duongductrong/Snapzy. It adds camera picture-in-picture recording with iPhone Continuity Camera and USB/AVFoundation cameras. It is maintained independently and is not an official release from the original Snapzy author.

Requires macOS 13.0 or later.
Download Snapzy-Camera-v1.30.0-beta.7.dmg from GitHub Releases, open it, and drag Snapzy Camera.app to Applications.
This custom build is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized by Apple. On first launch, macOS may block the app; right-click Snapzy Camera.app and choose Open, then grant Screen Recording, Camera, and Microphone permissions in System Settings.
Developers can also clone this fork and build locally with Xcode installed at /Applications/Xcode.app:

./scripts/build-install-camera.shThe script builds an ad-hoc signed Debug app and installs it as /Applications/Snapzy Camera.app. If a previous custom build exists, it is moved to the Trash first. The official /Applications/Snapzy.app is not replaced.
The custom app uses Bundle ID com.haileyliu.snapzy-camera and URL scheme snapzy-camera://. macOS therefore asks separately for Screen Recording, Camera, and Microphone permissions. Do not run the official and custom apps simultaneously because their global shortcuts can conflict.
For the original signed Snapzy release without the camera overlay, use the official repository.
Quit Snapzy Camera, then move /Applications/Snapzy Camera.app to the Trash in Finder. This leaves the official Snapzy app and its data untouched. Do not use the upstream Snapzy uninstall script for this fork unless you also intend to remove official Snapzy data and permissions.

Snapzy registers the snapzy:// URL scheme so launchers and automation tools can trigger capture actions. This integration can be toggled on or off under Settings -> Advanced -> URL Scheme integration.
The Snapzy Camera development build uses snapzy-camera:// instead; replace snapzy:// with snapzy-camera:// in the examples below.

Benchmark date: April 19, 2026. Current OCR numbers come from scripts/run-ocr-readme-benchmark.sh on a clean synthetic wrapped UI/article-text corpus with 12 samples / language across 10 supported languages. Character accuracy is the primary signal, exact match is intentionally strict, and no-output on this corpus is 0% for all languages below.

Real-world screenshots can score lower, especially with emoji, low-contrast footers, unusual punctuation, gradients, blur, or decorative fonts.
Snapzy runs inside the macOS App Sandbox with minimal entitlements. Network requests are limited to Sparkle update checks, local loopback OAuth callback redirection, and user-initiated cloud uploads to your own cloud storage (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, or Google Drive) — no data is ever sent to third-party servers. Cloud credentials and OAuth tokens are stored exclusively in the macOS Keychain, can be further protected with an optional password (SHA-256 hashed, never stored in plaintext), and can only be transferred via a manual encrypted export/import flow protected by a user-supplied archive passphrase. Snapzy collects no telemetry.
