Nativune 0.1.26

Nativune is an unofficial, native Windows desktop app for YouTube Music. It shows the official YouTube Music website in its own window and adds native controls such as a Compact mini player, tray and taskbar buttons. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google or YouTube, and it does not download media or use a private playback API. It blocks ads only if you turn that on yourself (off by default).

Unsigned build. The installer is not yet Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show Unknown Publisher or a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning. Download only from this page and check the SHA-256 before running it.

What's new

  • More room for music. The separate title row is gone. Minimize, maximize and close now sit at the right end of the toolbar, and you drag the window by the toolbar's empty middle.
  • Centered Compact title. The song title (and the status line under it) is centered in Compact. Long titles still scroll.
  • Start with Windows is now on by default. The first time this version starts, Nativune turns on Settings › Startup › Start Nativune when I sign in to Windows once and shows a note. By default it starts hidden in the tray. If you turn it off, it stays off. Nativune never re-enables an entry you turned off in Task Manager.

Quick update

Setup did not change in this release, so updating from 0.1.25 downloads only the 4 changed files (about 1.3 MB) instead of the full 182 MB installer. If the quick update can't be used, Nativune asks before downloading the full installer.

Install

  1. Download Nativune-Setup.exe and SHA256SUMS.txt from this release.
  2. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash .\Nativune-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 and compare it with SHA256SUMS.txt. Expected: 08d6a8d6483af66f9ba505a9532d75c256518ba8627d8472b81dcfd409fa8292.
  3. Run Setup. It checks for the Microsoft .NET 10 Runtime, Windows App SDK, VC++ runtime and WebView2, and asks before installing any that are missing. Default location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nativune. Upgrades keep your profile and settings.

If you already have Nativune 0.1.10 or later, the update button in the toolbar offers this version.

Build and known limits

Built by CI run 36231999232 from commit 2bd0037; the files here are that run's output, checked again after download. Windows x64 only. Setup version 1.0.1, unchanged from 0.1.25.

Before release, these passed:

  • the app self-check and native-fixture;
  • the Compact, player-control, icon, launcher and Windows-function checks;
  • hit tests on the new title bar: the toolbar's middle drags, every toolbar button stays clickable, the window buttons and top-edge resize work, including after switching to Compact and back.

Not yet checked:

  • the start-with-Windows default on an installed copy;
  • the title bar in fullscreen, maximized and high contrast;
  • Narrator;
  • signed-in use.
