Nativune 0.1.30

Nativune is an unofficial, native Windows desktop app for YouTube Music. It shows the official YouTube Music website in its own window and adds native controls such as a Compact mini player, tray and taskbar buttons. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google or YouTube, and it does not download media or use a private playback API. It blocks ads only if you turn that on yourself (off by default).

Unsigned build. The installer is not yet Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show Unknown Publisher or a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning. Download only from this page and check the SHA-256 before running it.

What's new

  • Discord status (optional, off by default). Show what you're listening to on your Discord profile, through the Discord desktop app on the same PC.
    • One-click toggle: the new Discord button at the top right of the toolbar turns it on (the icon turns Discord blurple) or off. You can also use More › Show what I'm playing on Discord. Right-click the button, or use More › Discord settings…, to open Settings › Discord for more options.
    • The status shows the song title, artist and album art. It adds a time bar while the song plays, a pause badge while it is paused and a repeat-one badge. The status clears after 10 minutes paused, when playback ends and when you quit Nativune.
    • You choose the status line: Artist, Song title or App only.
    • Clicking the song title opens that song on YouTube Music. An optional Open in YouTube Music button does the same. Both appear only when Nativune can confirm the playing song's link.
    • Hovering the art shows "Nativune 0.1.30 · by Hantu-Raya", and clicking it opens the Nativune repository.
    • It keeps working while Nativune is hidden in the tray or in Compact, and stops as soon as you turn it off.
    • Privacy: while it is on, Nativune sends the song's public details (title, artist, artwork link and song link) over a local connection to the Discord app. Discord shows them to people who can see your activity. Nativune uses no Discord login, token or account access, sends nothing while the setting is off, and does not log song details.

Going back to an older version resets your settings. This version saves settings in a newer format, which older versions don't read.

Quick update

Setup is unchanged (version 1.0.2), so updating from 0.1.29 is a quick update: only the changed app files are downloaded.

Install

  1. Download Nativune-Setup.exe and SHA256SUMS.txt from this release.
  2. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash .\Nativune-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 and compare it with SHA256SUMS.txt. Expected: 0c39eec4e10d728fb43a88d4826f14a6a12e0921c16bcd3f695579bd511f32e6.
  3. Run Setup. It checks for the Microsoft .NET 10 Runtime, Windows App SDK, VC++ runtime and WebView2, and asks before installing any that are missing. Default location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nativune. Upgrades keep your profile and settings.

If you already have Nativune 0.1.10 or later, the update button in the toolbar offers this version.

Build and known limits

Built by CI run 36310620140 from commit 2501919. The files here are that run's output, checked again after download. Windows x64 only. Setup version 1.0.2.

Before release, these passed:

  • the app self-check and native-fixture;
  • the release build's check that test-only and benchmark code is removed;
  • the release script's check of the manifest, ZIP contents, checksums and quick-update data;
  • 116 end-to-end checks that run the app against a local fake Discord. They cover the status card, the pause and 10-minute clear (also across a Discord reconnect, sleep and a page-read gap), reconnecting, rejected updates, songs with the same title, turning the setting off and on while running, quitting, the tray and Compact, and Discord's 15-second update limit;
  • a UI Automation run of the toolbar button, which checks it saves the setting and turns Blurple, and that Discord settings… opens the Discord page;
  • on the owner's PC with the real Discord app: the status card, the hover text, the art and title links, and clearing on close.

Not tested: signed-in playback, a real ad with ad blocking off, Narrator and high contrast.
