Nativune 0.1.43

Nativune is an unofficial, native Windows desktop app for YouTube Music. It shows the official YouTube Music website in its own window and adds native controls such as a Compact mini player, tray and taskbar buttons. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google or YouTube, and it does not download media or use a private playback API. It blocks ads only if you turn that on yourself (off by default).

Unsigned build. The installer is not yet Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show Unknown Publisher or a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning. Download only from this page and check the SHA-256 before running it.

Fixed

  • Update checks no longer resume while What's New is still open. Nativune pauses its automatic update checks while it shows What's New, but before this fix the pause ended as soon as the window appeared.
  • OBS overlay designer: switching the accent from Automatic to Custom now starts from the colour you were seeing. In installed builds the Custom colour did not start from the current automatic accent.

Under the hood

A cleanup pass removed unused code and packages and replaced home-grown helpers with built-in .NET ones. This covers the installer, the audio-volume code, settings reads, artwork loading and the build scripts. Nothing else should look or behave differently.

Updating

Setup changed in this release, so the in-app update downloads the full Setup once.

Install

  1. Download Nativune-Setup.exe and SHA256SUMS.txt from this release.
  2. In PowerShell run Get-FileHash .\Nativune-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 and compare it with SHA256SUMS.txt. Expected: c21e022f7c43b743a14fe918d7aa80d2ae6686269d3ca5b3157973a0368860e8.
  3. Run Setup. It checks for the Microsoft .NET 10 Runtime, Windows App SDK, VC++ runtime and WebView2, and asks before installing any that are missing or out of date. Default location: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nativune. Upgrades keep your profile and settings.

Build and known limits

Built by CI run 38266993300 from commit 35c7630. Windows x64 only.

What was tested and what wasn't:

  • On this build: the release package, the install and quick-update test installs, the app's self-check and the native window test all pass.
  • Volume control: on the reworked audio code, Nativune set its own volume to 100%, 25%, 0% and back to 100% on a local test tone and read each value back correctly.
  • Settings: the Discord and Lyrics settings pages were opened and toggled automatically, and their screenshots were checked.
  • OBS designer: the accent fix passed 305 automated checks on a test build, but was not checked by hand in an installed build.
  • Not tried before release: the What's New fix in an installed build, the update from 0.1.42, and sessions of several hours.
