Choose a tag to compare

@Harold0777 Harold0777 released this 06 Oct 01:04

What's new

VU1 recompilation at 100% coverage

All 13 distinct VU1 microprograms are now lifted to C. Coverage up from
32.3% to 100% (0 interpreted in the run summary).

GS draw state cache

Filter + 256-slot direct-mapped memo. Cache hit rate 45.2% → 87.7%.
fill_state_compute calls down from 7.95M to 0.91M per session.

Settings menu

3x and 6x removed from the internal resolution picker to avoid
non-power-of-2 rendering artifacts in volumetric effects.

See the commit log for details.

Downloads

  • ac5-recomp-v0.3.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz: portable tarball build.
  • EagleFive-x86_64.AppImage (+ .sha256): single-file build with the graphical launcher.

AppImage

The AppImage does not include the game. You need your own copy of Ace Combat 5 (USA, SLUS_208.51).

  1. Generate ps2_image.bin from your ISO:
    git clone https://github.com/Harold0777/eagle_five_recomp && cd eagle_five_recomp && git checkout 08f5f8b && python3 -m ps2recomp /path/to/AC5.iso -o generated
  2. Copy it to the data folder:
    mkdir -p ~/.local/share/eagle_five/generated && cp generated/ps2_image.bin ~/.local/share/eagle_five/generated/
  3. Run: chmod +x EagleFive-x86_64.AppImage && ./EagleFive-x86_64.AppImage, pick your ISO in the launcher and press play.

Requires python3 with PySide6 or PyQt, and Vulkan, installed on the system. Saves and settings are stored in ~/.local/share/eagle_five/.

EAGLE FIVE v0.2.1

Patch release over v0.2.0.

Fixed

  • Ship a default ac5_settings.ini so the launcher shows all graphics options on first launch, before the game has been run once.

Full changelog

See v0.2.0 for the complete feature list.

Requirements

Same as v0.2.0: Ace Combat 5 (USA) SLUS_208.51, Linux x86_64, Vulkan 1.2+.

Verification

Compare the SHA256 with the attached .sha256 file.
