Prism finds the same settings as the Windows Start menu, and an updated app shows its new icon.

• Prism now searches all Windows settings that the Start menu finds: 127 Control Panel tasks and 895 Settings pages on a Windows 11 PC. For example, type "uac" to find "Change User Account Control settings", or "environment variables" to edit them.
• Prism shows only the settings that Windows shows on your PC. Server-only and edition-only settings stay hidden.
• After you update an app, Prism shows the new icon. Before, Prism kept the old icon, also after a restart.
• The first start after this update reads all app icons again. This takes a few seconds one time.

An app opens one time when you press Enter many times, and Prism uses less memory on large disks.

• When an app is slow to start, more Enter presses no longer open more copies. Before, 30 fast presses during a slow start opened the app 30 times. Now the app opens one time.
• File search uses 16% less memory after it finishes loading (245 MB to 206 MB with 5 million indexed files).
• While Prism loads the file index at startup, the highest memory use is 36% lower (353 MB to 227 MB). This helps computers with 4 GB of memory.

The Start button opens Prism every time, a click on another window closes Prism, and the search field waits for you to type.

• A click on the Start button opens Prism also right after an app opens or closes on a centered taskbar. Before, the Start button moved and the native Start menu could open for a few seconds.
• A click on the Start button is no longer lost when the taskbar changes during the click.
• A click on another window closes Prism also when the click comes right after Prism opens.
• The search field no longer looks pressed when Prism opens. Type, and the text goes into the field.

The footer buttons are back, and a press outside a menu closes it.

• Rebuild, refresh, and power are in the footer again.
• Row actions sit at the trailing edge of the row again.
• Pressing outside the power menu or a result menu closes that menu.

The launcher stays the same width. Row actions sit next to the name.

• The pin, the dismiss control, and the section grip no longer sit at the far edge of the window.
• The section grip appears when you hover that header.
• The selection highlight still spans the full window.

The launcher keeps the same window. Rows are quieter, and the occasional actions moved into Settings.

• App rows no longer repeat the subtitle "Application".
• A file path sits on the right of the row.
• The reorder grip and the recent-item dismiss control appear when the row is hovered or selected.
• Refresh, rebuild index, and power actions are in Settings. The footer keeps the keyboard hints and indexing status.

A click on a menu item now does only that action. The menus also have a cleaner look.

• A click on an item in the power menu also opened the app in the result row under the menu. Now the menu stops the click, and only the power action runs.
• The footer buttons showed on top of the right-click menu of a result. Now the menu shows on top.
• Both menus have one highlight. Before, the row under your pointer and the focused row could both show as selected.
• Menu rows are smaller, icons are grey, and lines divide the groups of items. Shut down has a red highlight, and Open, the default action, shows in bold.

The highlight on the result under your pointer now looks the same as in the original Prism.

• The left end of the highlight was a darker purple than the rest of the row. Now the accent tint shows over the row color, so the highlight is even from end to end.

File search shows names that are one letter longer than your query near the top of the results.

• A name that is your query with one more letter now ranks just below exact names. For example, agent.md finds AGENTS.md. Before, many exact agent.md copies filled the results and AGENTS.md did not show.
• Copies of files in node_modules and in package caches (bun, npm, pnpm, deno, cargo, go, NuGet) rank lower. Your own files show before these copies.
