Editor: General Tab
<== Back to the Editor Overview
On the General Tab, you define the Name of the Room, the Backgroundimage for it, and can toggle some debug features like showing the Player Rect or Walkrects
Walkrects are rectangles that are used to define where the player character can move. The game allows the player only to move inside Walkrects
You create a new Walkrect by clicken the Make new Rects button, which will change the Current Tool: None label at the bottom of the Editor Window to Current Tool: CreateWalkMap. Then you can click two times inside the Game Window. If you have Show Walkrects checked, you should see a new orange rectangle. If not, at least you should see a new entry in the Walkable Rects: listbox.
To move a Walkrect around, check Show Walkrects first, then select the Walkrect you want from the list. You will see that the selected Walkrect will turn purple in the Game Window. When it is selected, you can Click and Drag the Walkrect with the mouse to the position you want.
You delete a Walkrect by Double-Clicking on it's entry in the Walkable Rects: listbox.
Global Variables are used to keep track of changes that happen over the course of the game. They can be checked and changed through Scripts. They keep their value throughout the whole game, so they can be accessed from different Rooms - hence the name Global
You can create a new Global Variable by entering a Name and Value at the bottom of the General Tab and clicking Add Global Variable.
While the Value value is always a string, ArtistQuest automatically recognizes Integers (ex. 1, 300, 45345435) and Boolean (true, false) values too!
You can delete a Global Variable by Double-Clicking on it in the Global Variables: list.
