A Object is everything in a Room that is represented by a sprite, except the Player. Technically, you even can create a Object with a extreme small sprite or a sprite with nothing but alpha-channel and therefore create an Object without a sprite.

Objects can also contain several Scripts. In this tab, Scripts are represented by Verbs, but are essentially the same thing. When you create a Verb, you create a Script you can edit later in the Script Tab.

Editor: The Objects Tab

For easier debugging, you can activate Show Object Rects and Show InteractHandles to display the rectangles and Interaction Handles of the Objects in the Game Window.

And with 'easier debugging', I mean check these when ever you change a Rect or a Interaction Handle so you can see what you're doing!

Create a new Object

You can easily create Objects by typing a name, and the filename of a image into the Name and Picture box and click Create.

Manipulate Objects

Once created, you can move Objects by selecting them in the Objects list, and Click&Drag them in the Game Window to where you want it to be.

Edit Rect

A Rect of an Object is what defines the space it takes up in a Room. If the Object is not marked as Walkable, the Rect will define where the Player(Rect) will bump into the Object.

The bottom of the Rect is where the depth of the Object is defined. Meaning, if the Player, or another Objects Rects bottom is above the bottom of the Rect, it will be drawen behind the Object. Otherwise, it will be drawn in front of it.

The Rect can be moved away from the middle point of the Object by the Rect Offset settings. It can also be resized by the Rect Size settings.

Interaction Handle Offset

When you imagine the area the Player needs to be in, so he can manipulate the Object, think of a circle where Range is the radius and the Interaction Handle is the center point of the circle.

You can offset the Interaction Handle in X and Y respectively with the InteractionPoint Offset settings.

Edit Range

Range is the value that determines how close the Player needs to get to the Object in order to be able to interact with it.

The Range can be changed with the Range settings, where the first setting is for the x-value and the second one for the y-value.

Set Visible and Walkable

When Visible is checked, the object is 'active' and can be seen on the Game Window and be interacted with. Uncheck this in a script to make something 'dissapear' and be gone.

Walkable defines whether the Player can move through the Objects Rect or not.

Give it more sprites

If a Object has several Sprites, they can be swapped via script to give the illusion of something happening!

You can add a new Sprite to the Object just by typing in a filename into the Image Name box and pressing Add Sprite!

Please ignore the Rows, Columns and Add animates Sprite controles. They are renderes obsolete by the Animation Tab and will be removed soon.

Add a Verb/Script

Type the name of the new Verb into the New Verb: box and click Add Verb.

Toggle Verbs active

The attribute active of a Verb determines whether it appears in the Manipulation Menu of an Object, or not. It can be changed through a Script.

Select the Verb you wanna toggle active for and check/uncheck Verb is Active.

Delete an Object

You delete an Object by Double-Clicking it's entry in the Objects list.
