@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 02 Oct 14:36

What's new

🔄 In-app updates

TidalHeX can now update itself from this page.

  • At startup it checks GitHub for a newer release, in the background without slowing anything down.
  • When one is out, a window shows the version and its release notes, with four choices:
    • Update now: downloads the new version with a progress bar, swaps it in and restarts TidalHeX. If you have unsaved changes it asks first.
    • Later: reminds you next time.
    • Skip this version: no reminder until a newer release comes out.
    • Release page: opens it on GitHub.
  • Settings → Updates has a switch for the startup check and a Check now button.
  • If the download fails or there's no internet, nothing is changed. If TidalHeX can't write to its own folder (e.g. Program Files), it opens the release page so you can download it yourself.
  • Settings now shows the TidalHeX version (0.5.5 Beta) next to the PKHeX version it's built on.

🐛 Fixes

  • Removed the startup notice that pointed to new PKHeX releases instead of TidalHeX ones.

Notes

  • Updating from 0.5.0 or earlier: download this release by hand once. From 0.5.5 on, new versions install from inside TidalHeX.''

What's new

🎨 Themes

TidalHeX now has five themes. Pick one in Settings → Theme. It switches instantly and is remembered the next time you start TidalHeX.

  • Tidal Light (Default): the original bright ocean look.
  • Tidal Dark: the same design on a deep night-time sea, with dimmed glows and box wallpapers.
  • Tidal PSS: based on the Player Search System in X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Sunny striped yellow, burnt-orange panels, and navy bars, buttons and labels.
  • Tidal ZA: based on Legends: Z-A. The title screen's dark backdrop with falling green data dots and floating squares, frosted slate menus, and items that turn white with a lime marker when you point at them.
  • Tidal Pixel: based on the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. A scrolling striped background, framed pixel boxes, a ▶ cursor and pixel bubbles, plus Tidal Pixel, a pixel font made just for TidalHeX and built into the exe.

Background animations still only run on the home screen while TidalHeX is focused, and Reduce motion turns them off. PKHeX's classic windows keep the ocean theme.

✨ Other additions

  • The loaded game's box art now sits next to the clock on every screen. Hover over it for the game and trainer.
  • The editor's Egg button uses the real egg sprite, greyed out until the Pokémon is an egg.
  • The startup screens now show the full TidalHeX logo.

🐛 Fixes

  • The last header tab (Save Manager) could be cut off in smaller windows. Tabs now shrink to icons when they don't all fit, and the page you're on keeps its name.
  • Pages could stretch past the right edge of the window when the header got crowded.
  • Removed the stray half-circle outlines at the ends of the home screen dock.

📖 README

  • New Themes section: how to change the theme, and screenshots of every theme.

Notes

  • Tidal ZA uses the Bahnschrift font, which comes with Windows 10 and 11. Tidal Pixel's font is built into TidalHeX, so it looks the same on every PC.

TidalHeX v0.4.5 Beta | Smarter Save Manager

Choose a tag to compare

@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 01 Oct 21:24

What's new

🗂️ Save Manager

  • Red or Blue? Gen 1–3 saves don't record which game of a pair they're from, so TidalHeX now works it out from the file name, the .zip, or the folders the save is in. A Checkpoint backup in gb/blue-main/sav.dat shows up as Blue, with Blue's box art and an ENG badge, and opens as Blue too. Works for Gold/Silver, Ruby/Sapphire and FireRed/LeafGreen in every language (see the naming guide in the README).
  • Checkpoint-friendly folders: a folder now holds everything inside it, so the per-backup folders Checkpoint makes (gb/blue-main, gbc/crystal-main) stay in their console's group. The card shows the backup folder, e.g. "blue-main › sav.dat".
  • Checkpoint's SecureValue files are ignored instead of being counted as unrecognized files.
  • Saves that can't tell a pair apart now read "Red / Blue" instead of "RB".
  • Gen 1 sorts in release order: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow.

🐛 Fixes

  • Trainer names on save cards no longer get cut off for games without a trainer gender (Gen 1, Gold/Silver).
  • Gen 1/2 saves no longer show a "SID 00000"; those games don't have a Secret ID.

📖 README

  • New "Red or Blue? Naming Gen 1–3 saves" guide with a naming table in each language, and an updated Save Manager screenshot.

TidalHeX v0.4.0 Beta | Save Manager

Pre-release

@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 01 Oct 20:20

What's new

🗂️ Save Manager

Keep all your saves in one place and switch games with a double-click.

  • Put saves in a saves folder next to the exe: raw save files or .zip backups (like the ones JKSV makes for Switch games).
  • Folders inside saves become groups, and common console names get a proper title (switch → Nintendo Switch, gba → Game Boy Advance, ds, 3ds, gb, gbc, gc).
  • Every save shows its game's box art, the trainer's name and gender, TID/SID, play time, start date, money, Pokédex count, language, and party.
  • Box art for every game PKHeX supports, including Colosseum, XD, Stadium 1 & 2 and Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire.
  • Sorted from oldest console to newest, with search and Gen filters.
  • Double-click a save (or press A/Enter) to load it and go straight to its boxes.
  • The folder is scanned at startup and refreshes when you come back to TidalHeX, so new files show up without restarting.
  • Saves inside a .zip are read straight from the zip and never written back. Exporting always asks where to save.
  • Open it from the new dock button on the home screen or the Save Manager tab at the top (Ctrl+6).

✨ Tera Types

  • Type icons next to every Tera Type in the Original and Override dropdowns.
  • A Tera gem shows the type the Pokémon actually Terastallizes into.
  • Wand buttons bring back PKHeX's shortcuts: suggest the species' Tera Type (click again for its second type) and reset the override.

🎮 Interface

  • The home screen and Save Manager no longer highlight something on their own when they open. Tiles and cards light up when you hover over them, or when you use the arrow keys.
  • With nothing selected, the home screen's title band shows the loaded game and trainer.
  • The README now has a Save Manager guide and screenshot.

Notes

  • The SID on save cards is hidden when PKHeX's "Hide secret details" privacy setting is on.
  • Gen 1–3, Let's Go and Legends: Z-A don't store a start date that PKHeX can read, so it isn't shown for them.

TidalHeX v0.3.1 Beta | Full Pokémon Editor

Choose a tag to compare

@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 01 Oct 14:01

The Pokémon editor can now edit everything PKHeX's editor tabs can, in TidalHeX's own style. Each game only shows the fields that apply to it, just like PKHeX.

✨ Moves

  • Type icons on every move in the move pickers
  • Physical / Special / Status icons next to each move, and on each move card
  • Learnable moves first: moves the Pokémon can legally learn are listed at the top and highlighted, like PKHeX's green rows
  • Move flags: Relearn Flags (Sword/Shield, BDSP, Legends: Arceus, Scarlet/Violet, Z-A), Move Shop (Legends: Arceus) and Plus Flags (Z-A). Click opens PKHeX's editor; Shift+click sets every flag the Pokémon can legally have
  • Alpha mastered move for Legends: Arceus

🧬 New editor fields

  • Overview: Pokérus (infected/cured, strain, days left), form values (Alcremie toppings, Furfrou/Hoopa days, Gimmighoul coins…), Gen 1 catch rate
  • Met: Battle Version, Ground Tile (Gen 4–6), Met Time of Day (Gen 2), Obedience Level (S/V, Z-A), Received date (Let's Go)
  • Stats: Alpha and Noble, Dynamax Level and Gigantamax, Hidden Power type picker, Tera Type original and override, Characteristic, GVs (Legends: Arceus) and AVs (Let's Go)
  • Extras: Markings, Favorite, Height/Weight/Scale with size class, CP, Contest Stats, Shiny Leaves and Walking Mood (Gen 4), N's Sparkle and Pokéstar Fame (Gen 5), Spirit and Mood (Let's Go), Shadow ID and Heart Gauge (Colosseum/XD)
  • Trainer: Current Handler, Handler Language, Country/Region/3DS region (Gen 6/7), HOME Tracker, Extra Bytes
  • An Alpha badge on the Pokémon's card

🎯 Abilities

  • The ability list shows only that species' abilities, labeled (1), (2) or (H)
  • Legends: Arceus and Z-A explain that abilities aren't used in their battles; the stored ability is what the Pokémon will have in other games through Pokémon HOME
  • Z-A Pokémon that evolved keep the ability they were born with, so the list shows the abilities of the species they were born as, matching PKHeX's legality check

🛠️ Fixes

  • The legality card now updates after changing ribbons, memories or other details in PKHeX's editor windows
  • Dropdowns near the bottom of the screen open right above their box instead of floating away (e.g. Pokérus)
  • Ribbons, Memories and Medals buttons only appear for games that have them
  • Save Tools text is easier to read: the tool list sits on a panel instead of directly over the animated background
  • Redesigned Settings page: one tidy panel with a row per setting
  • Save Tools text is easier to read: the tool list sits on a panel instead of directly over the animated background
  • Classic mode: button text no longer gets cut off (Randomize IVs/EVs, Relearn Flags…)
  • Classic mode: the window title now says TidalHeX
  • Fixed the Reduce motion switch in Settings showing an "Unknown method" error. Your choice is now saved between launches.

📥 Install

Download TidalHeX.exe below and replace your old one. Your settings and plugins folder carry over.
Requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime and the WebView2 Runtime.

⚠️ Notes

  • Pre-release: back up your saves before editing
  • Not covered yet: editing the hidden "trash" bytes behind names, and the battle status condition

TidalHeX v0.2.0 Beta | Plugin Support

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 01 Oct 11:54

🧩 What's new: plugins

PKHeX plugins now work in the TidalHeX view, not just in classic mode.

  • Put your plugins in a plugins folder next to TidalHeX.exe, just like with PKHeX
  • Everything they add to PKHeX's Tools menu shows up in a new Plugins section at the bottom of Save Tools
  • Plugin submenus become groups (for example, all the Sort Boxes By options), and plugin icons are shown
  • Commands that don't apply to the loaded game are hidden, just like in PKHeX
  • Plugin windows open with the TidalHeX theme, and your boxes refresh after a plugin changes them
  • "Find a tool…" searches plugin commands too

Tested with the full PluginPile collection: box sorting, Fashion Editor, Display Raids, Battle/Rental Team viewers and more.

🛠️ Fixes

  • The Save Tools footer could show the previous save's game after opening a different save
  • The README and Settings now describe plugin support

📥 Install

Download TidalHeX.exe below and replace your old one. Your settings and plugins folder carry over.
Requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime and the WebView2 Runtime.

⚠️ Notes

  • Plugin entries that PKHeX shows in the right-click menu of a box slot aren't available in the TidalHeX view yet; use classic mode for those
  • Pre-release: back up your saves before editing

TidalHeX v0.1.0 Beta | First Preview

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@HydrosPlays HydrosPlays released this 01 Oct 09:27

The first preview of TidalHeX: a modern, console-style interface for PKHeX.

TidalHeX replaces PKHeX's classic window with a new animated interface, while keeping PKHeX's engine underneath. Saves are read and written by PKHeX's own unchanged PKHeX.Core, with the same legality checker and the same encounter and Mystery Gift data.

Based on PKHeX 26.08.26.

✨ Highlights

  • New home screen with your party, quick tiles, recent saves and a dock for common actions
  • Boxes: drag to move, Shift+drag to clone, Alt+drag to overwrite, undo/redo, and drop a Pokémon or gift file straight onto a slot
  • Pokémon editor with sections, a live legality card, stat chart and one-click suggestions. PKHeX's shiny shortcuts work (Alt+click keeps the PID, Shift/Ctrl for square/star)
  • Forms: form picker with sprites, gender forms kept in step, Gen 3 Deoxys forme explained
  • Encounter and Mystery Gift databases rebuilt as cards with game badges, locations, HOME gift labels, form names and a details panel. Encounters always open as the database generates them
  • Save tools rebuilt in-app: Items, Trainer Info, Box Layout and Pokédex. Every other editor opens PKHeX's own window with the new theme
  • In-app dialogs instead of Windows message boxes
  • Classic mode is one click away (Settings → Switch to classic PKHeX) for plugins like Auto-Legality Mod. Click TidalHeX view to come back

📥 Install

  1. Download TidalHeX.exe below and run it. No installer needed.
  2. You need the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime, and the WebView2 Runtime, which is already on Windows 11 and most Windows 10 PCs.

Windows 10/11, 64-bit.

⚠️ Pre-release notes

This is an early build. Back up your saves before editing.

  • Some save tools still open PKHeX's classic editor windows; more will move into the new interface over time
  • Legends: Arceus uses the classic Pokédex editor
  • Plugins only load in classic mode
  • The new interface is English-only; Pokémon, move and item names follow PKHeX's language setting
