Hotfix: the StarGate star check works again after the repository rename.

Fixes

• People who had already starred the project were blocked because the check still looked for the old repository name. It now uses the new one, on the phone and on Android TV.
• A network or GitHub error during the re-check is now shown as an error instead of being read as a missing star, with diagnostic details you can report (never the token).
• If GitHub revokes the session, the app now logs out cleanly, and switching GitHub account no longer inherits the previous account's verification.

• Long-press a message in the chat to copy its text - the live chat, the replay chat of a VOD and the Multistream's. A long press on a name still opens that user's history.

Fixes

• Coming back from picture-in-picture while you were on another screen (Home, Following, Settings...) no longer leaves the video stretched over the page with black above and below it: the player comes back the way it was, small or big.
• Opening a live, the first chat messages no longer show up some ten seconds ahead of the picture: they wait for the video to start, ten seconds at most.

• Filter lives by tag: Browse › Live channels and every category page now have a row of tags. It shows the ones the lives on the page use most, or you can type your own and press Enter, up to five at once. Twitch does the filtering, so you get every live with that tag, not just the ones already loaded.
• The Multistream chat keeps time with the video: Lives arrive a few seconds late, the chat doesn't, so you read the reactions before you saw what happened. Now each message waits for the moment in the video it's about. Your own messages still show up right away.
• More useful ad reports: The anonymous reports (Settings › Ad-Block) now also count hours watched and the seconds of ads RetoldShield removed, and they tell us when a new kind of ad shows up even if it never reaches your screen. Still anonymous: no channels, no links, once a day at most.

🚀 What's New:

• The new Retold Mixer: The mixer now separates the streamer's voice from the game and the music with a small neural model that runs on your PC, instead of boosting frequency bands the voice shares with the game. Raising the voice no longer raises the explosions too. The model was trained on synthetic mixes and on hundreds of real lives.
• Four presets: Voice focus (Streamer), Game focus, Music focus and Balanced. A focus keeps its part where it is and lowers the rest, so the voice never gets louder or harsh. Balanced leaves the sound exactly as it is: the mixer steps aside and adds no delay. The player's mixer has the same presets.
• Night: A switch that works with any preset: everything about 10 dB lower, with shouts and explosions kept in check and the balance between voice and game left alone. It replaces the old Night preset.
• Report ads that get through: The switch in Settings now sends only what we actually need: how many ad breaks RetoldShield stopped and, if an ad still made it to the screen, what it looked like. Once a day at most, anonymously, with no channels or links.
• Several announcements in one popup: When more than one announcement is active you flip through them in the same popup: arrows, dots, the arrow keys or a swipe on the touchpad. The ones you haven't seen come back at the next launch, and a closed one returns after 30 launches.
• VirusTotal check: Every release is scanned by VirusTotal and the link to the result is in the README, so you can check it before installing.

Tags to filter lives, emote suggestions in the chat, a chat in time with the video, and a phone that runs cooler.

New

• Filter lives by tag in Browse › Live channels and on every category page: tap one of the tags in use right now or type your own, up to five. Twitch does the filtering, so you get every live with that tag.
• Matching emotes show up while you type in the chat: 7TV, BetterTTV and, if you're signed in, your own Twitch emotes. Type @ for the names of people who wrote recently.
• If you pause a live and come back after more than a minute, or after it ended, it picks up from the VOD where you stopped instead of jumping to the live. The channel has to keep its VODs: if there's none, you go back to the live and the app tells you.
• The quality you pick in the player sticks for the next lives and VODs, separately for Wi-Fi and mobile data, Auto included. If you change it in Settings, that one counts again.
• The live chat keeps time with the video. Before, messages showed up a few seconds ahead of the moment they were about. Yours still appear right away.
• The phone runs cooler: the ambient light, the chat and the scrolling title only work when they have to. In our tests, drawing a live takes about half the work it did.

RetoldShield

• The anonymous ad reports now also count hours watched and the seconds of ads removed, and tell us when a new kind of ad shows up even if it never reaches the screen. No channels or links, once a day at most.

Fixes

• Coming back from picture-in-picture with the phone upright could leave the player in the landscape layout: a small video in the middle with black bars around it.
• The LIVE badge no longer blinks.
• Changing the quality halfway through a VOD could fill the picture with stripes or turn it green. The player now notices and sorts itself out in a moment.
• In landscape, reopening the side chat showed the old messages. It now opens on the current ones.
• The panel asking permission for updates now opens fully in landscape too, and closes when you tap outside it.

Lives now play in our own player, you can watch up to three at once, and the Retold Mixer comes to Android.

New

• Lives open in the Retold live player instead of Twitch's page. You can follow and subscribe from the channel row, the title scrolls along the status line, and the gestures are the same as on VODs: tap to pause, double tap for fullscreen, drag the chat around in fullscreen. If you prefer Twitch's page, there's a switch in Settings.
• Multistream: up to three lives at once, one big and the others small, with one chat for all of them. Eco and Turbo modes, and the app eases off when the phone gets hot, the battery runs low or you're on mobile data.
• In the background, lives and VODs switch to audio only and stop decoding the video, which saves battery and data.
• Sleep timer, with a fade-out and the time left shown in the media notification.
• Notifications when a channel you follow goes live (off by default), and shortcuts to the lives that are on straight from the app icon.
• Retold Wrapped: hours watched, favourite channels and when you watch the most. It's counted on your phone and never sent anywhere. You'll find it at the bottom of Following and in Recent.
• Double tap the sides of a live to jump back or forward, up to 60 seconds.
• Ambient light around the video, in the live player and in the VOD player.
• A separate top quality for Wi-Fi and for mobile data.
• Moderator, VIP and verified badges in the chat.
• Subscribe, Bits and account pages open in a sheet inside the app.
• Sharing a VOD starts it from the minute you're watching.
• News from the team shows up in a small carousel at launch, the same notes the desktop app gets.

• "Download bug report" now includes the last three days of the engine's log.

Fixes

• Pausing from the notification now sticks, sub-only VODs included, and the notification shows the right play/pause state.
• Smoother picture-in-picture, and sharing or opening a link no longer drops you into PiP.
• Player sheets close only when you swipe down from their top, not while you scroll a list or move a slider.
• The settings rows in the VOD player no longer overlap on small screens.
• Reopening the small player no longer breaks Twitch's layout.
• The ambient light now shows in landscape fullscreen on VODs.
• App icon shortcuts and "live now" notifications were never being created.
• The VOD player's fullscreen button no longer gets cut off on narrow phones, and the quality is named in your language ("Source" was always in Italian).
• With the Retold Mixer on, trips to the background and back no longer leave work running that could make the sound stutter later in the session.
• The updater only ever offers this app's own APK, and checks it before installing.
• A paused video now stays paused when it goes into picture-in-picture. If you liked it starting again, it's a switch in Settings.

• Twitch Retold channel pages: Channel pages are now ours, as in the Android app: Home, Videos, Clips, Series, Schedule and About, with follow, subscribe and reminders for upcoming lives (a notification when they start).
• Subscribe, gifts and confirmations in the app's own panels: Subscribe, Gift a sub, channel points and reports open in a side panel with the live still visible; confirmations such as Unfollow become a centred dialog. Payments and account security continue on Twitch's own site in your browser; 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ sign-ins ask for Twitch first, so the double sign-in no longer fails.
• A stronger RetoldShield: After a 27-hour test campaign: ads that Twitch loads straight into the player are now blocked for everyone (the window that blocked them never showed an ad), cleaner backup sessions, and new ad formats recognised.
• Report new ad formats: When RetoldShield meets an ad format it does not know, it anonymously sends only its signature (no channels, no URLs, no account), at most twice a day, so the engine gets updated faster. Outside the European Union Twitch serves different ads from the ones we see, and there RetoldShield may not block them all: these reports are exactly how we find them and teach them to the engine. Turn it off in Settings › Ad-Block.
• Fits any screen: In full screen, pages use the whole width and scale up on large monitors; Home shows four full rows. In narrow windows the left rail switches to icons by itself.
• macOS: The DMG for Intel Macs would not open ("cachedDataRejected"): there is now one package per processor, tested before release; download the -arm64.dmg for Apple Silicon (M1-M4). The window uses the native traffic lights, remembers its position and size, and closing it no longer leaves the sound playing.
• Fixes: The channel notification bell works again; the pink dot next to Gift a sub is gone; opening a live no longer flashes the "content not available" screen; chat tooltips no longer open and close in a loop.

• 18+ channels: the stream now starts: The player controls no longer cover Twitch's "Start Watching" gate for mature content, nor the subscriber-only and offline screens: Twitch's buttons are clickable again.
• Star Gate: RetoldShield comes back on its own: After unlocking Star Gate while the app is open, the engine switches back to RetoldShield and the "Restart now" notice appears. Settings now show a badge with the engine that is actually running, not just the selected one.
• 7TV: more reliable sign-in: 7TV sign-in windows now open properly, and if you are not signed in to Twitch yet the app takes you there first: doing it the other way round used to break the login.
• Turbo banner over the video is gone: The "Ad-free viewing with Turbo" banner that covered the bottom of the player is now hidden on live streams too, in every language.
• More useful bug reports: The report now includes the running engine, the Star Gate state and the ads blocked during the session, so one report is enough to understand what happened.
• Lighter on your computer: Page cleanup no longer scans thousands of elements ten times per second: less CPU while you watch, especially with chat open.
• RetoldShield: an update is on the way: We are working on an engine update, based on more than 24 hours of data collected across hundreds of channels: the targets are the ads Twitch delivers outside the video stream and the rare ones that slip through when you enter a channel. Coming soon.
