Screenshot Studio 0.2.0
The loupe became a real annotation tool, and the editor stopped losing text you had just typed.
Magnified highlights
A highlight's card is now sized by its magnification rather than by a width you set and
discovered the zoom from afterwards — reframing the sampled region keeps the magnification
instead of silently changing it. The card can place itself: it scores both sides of the
region against the region, your captions and any card already there, and takes the lesser
collision, then draws a leader line back to what it magnifies. Drag the card and it stays
where you put it.
The dashed region marker used to be editor chrome that shipped in the export. It is now part
of the design: it takes a colour (a new loupe picks up the project accent), and it can be
switched off — which also drops the leader line, and lets you float the lens directly over the
region it samples. The card takes a rim so it separates from the UI beneath it, and
circle rounds it to the silhouette people read as a lens without being told.
Both the marker and the leader now scale their stroke with the canvas, so what you see in the
editor is what lands in the 1320px export. They used to draw three times thinner in the file
you actually ship.
Editing
- Text typed straight onto the canvas is no longer lost when you leave the editor without
clicking away first. Moving to Localize mid-word used to discard it. - Text blocks can be deleted — with Backspace on the canvas, or per block in the panel.
The first block could not be removed by any route before. - The text section is an accordion: the block you select on the canvas opens, the rest
collapse to their label and a preview. Four blocks used to mean eighty controls in one scroll. - Splitting a 2-page pair no longer puts the same screen on both slides. One image spans
both pages while they are linked; a copy of it on a lone slide was just the same screenshot
twice. - The export preview could stall behind a spinner that never stopped, showing nothing. It
now renders slide by slide and survives an edit landing mid-render. - The slide you are editing is the brightest thing on the board — its neighbours are held
back rather than the other way round.
Finding your way around
- One Open Project entry instead of two identical "Select Files" buttons. Drop in a saved
.zipor an agent-authored file set; it works out which you meant. - The three save commands say where each one puts things — inside this browser, design only,
or a.zipfile you can reopen. - On Localize, a language with no screenshot of its own now shows the image it will actually
export, dimmed, instead of an empty upload slot that read as "nothing will be exported". - The app warns you before storage fills up, rather than after a change has already failed
to save.
Worth knowing
- Highlights are capped at two per slide. Existing projects keep whatever they have —
nothing is removed — but you cannot add a third. The limit used to be three on the import
path and unlimited in the editor, which disagreed. - The MCP server package on npm is still 0.1.0. The loupe vocabulary and the new
live_inspectcanvas geometry are in the app, but an agent installed with
npx -y screenshot-studio-mcpwill not see them until that package is published separately.
