Release list
Studio 2.3.0
Studio 2.3 finishes updates by itself: no more "restart DeepSeek Harness to finish".
New
- Automatic restart after an update. Once a new version is installed, Studio restarts DeepSeek Harness so it takes over straight away. An update you start restarts right away; an automatic update waits until no task is running, so nothing the agent is doing gets cut off.
- Open windows update themselves. After the restart, open DeepSeek Harness windows reconnect and load the new version on their own. No second browser tab opens.
- Stays where you started it. The harness comes back with the exact command it was started with, in the same terminal or log, so Ctrl+C (or the app that started it) still stops it.
- Restart now in the update banner, and a setting under Studio → Updates to turn automatic restarts off.
A harness started some other way than the dsh command (for example inside another app) can't restart itself; the Updates page says so and you restart it as before.
Updating
From 1.3 or later, press Update now in Studio (or turn on auto-updates), then restart DeepSeek Harness one last time by hand. From 2.3 on, Studio does the restarting.
Studio 2.2.0
Studio 2.2 makes the theme editor much more powerful: more ways to start a theme, and better tools to finish it.
More ways to make a theme
- Moods. Twelve one-click starting points: Calm, Cozy, Energetic, Focus, Dreamy, Retro, Cyber, Nature, Ocean, Sunset, Luxury and Playful. Click again for a new take on the same mood.
- One colour. Pick a colour (it starts on your Windows accent) and a colour harmony (monochrome, analogous, complementary, split complementary or triadic), and Studio builds a whole theme around it.
- Any word. Type your name, a song or a place: the same word always makes the same theme.
- Locks. Lock 🔒 the colours you like, and moods, colours, words and Surprise me keep them.
Better tools
- Fine-tune sliders move the whole theme at once: hue, vividness, warmth and background.
- Variations: eight ready-made twists on your theme (warmer, cooler, more vivid, softer, deeper, hue shifts, swapped accents).
- Fix contrast in one click, per colour or for everything.
- Screen colour picker 💧: grab a colour from anywhere on screen. The colour boxes also accept
rgb(…),hsl(…)and names liketomato. - Second accent: the colour used in gradients can now be set, or left automatic.
- Make Light from Dark (and back), so you only have to design one mode.
- Undo and redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y).
- Colour-blindness preview: see your theme as people with red-, green- or blue-blindness see it, or in greyscale.
- Theme files: download your theme as a
.jsonfile and open one, alongside share codes and the gallery.
Every generator keeps text readable: at least 7:1 contrast for text and 3:1 for accents, in both light and dark mode.
Updating
From 1.3 or later, press Update now in Studio (or turn on auto-updates), then restart DeepSeek Harness. From an older version, use Plugins → Add plugin → github:IRdotAI/dsh-studio.
Your settings and saved themes carry over.
Studio 2.1.0
Studio 2.1 adds eight new features, plus fixes found while testing them.
New
- AI modes. Saved sets of reply style, language and instructions: Coding, Writing, Explain simply and Brainstorm to start, plus any you save yourself. Switch with
/aiin the composer, from Ctrl+K, or on the AI preferences tab. - Spending alerts. Set a daily and/or monthly budget on the Usage tab. Meters show how much you've used, and Studio alerts you (toast, sound and desktop notification) once when you're close and once when you reach it.
- Chat export.
/transcript(or Ctrl+K → Export this chat) saves the open chat as a Markdown file or a PDF, in your theme's colours or plain black on white, or copies it as Markdown. - Theme per workspace. Give any workspace its own theme or look, so you can tell projects apart at a glance. It switches as you move between workspaces.
- Livelier wallpapers. Bing's picture of the day, a slideshow from a folder of your own pictures (every few minutes to once a day), or a muted looping video that pauses when the window is hidden.
- Prompt packs in the gallery. Add a whole pack of prompts in one click (four starter packs included), or send one of your prompt folders to the gallery.
- Accessibility. A High Contrast theme, Reduce transparency (solid panels, no wallpaper; follows Windows' own setting), strong keyboard focus outlines and an easy-reading font with roomier spacing. High Contrast always wins over workspace themes.
- Sunrise and sunset. Schedule entries can switch at sunrise or sunset where you are, worked out on your computer.
Improved
- Error messages from Studio's background half (updates, sync, gallery, balance) are now translated too.
- The tab bar in Studio stays readable over wallpapers.
- Studio's slash commands step aside if DeepSeek Harness ever adds a command with the same name, so the
/menu keeps working.
Updating
From 1.3 or later, press Update now in Studio (or turn on auto-updates), then restart DeepSeek Harness. From an older version, use Plugins → Add plugin → github:IRdotAI/dsh-studio.
Your settings carry over, and nothing new is switched on until you turn it on.
Studio 2.0.0
Studio 2.0 is the biggest update yet: ten new features and the whole interface in 19 languages.
New
- Theme from an image. Build a theme from your desktop wallpaper, your Studio wallpaper or any picture. Studio picks the colours and makes sure text stays readable in light and dark mode.
- Community gallery. A new Gallery tab with themes shared by other users. One click adds and applies a theme. Submit to the gallery in the theme editor opens GitHub with your theme ready to propose. Eight starter themes are included.
- Saved looks and a schedule. Save your theme, style and wallpaper together as a look and switch whole setups in one click, or automatically by time of day.
- Windows colours. Use your Windows accent colour in any theme, and follow Windows light/dark mode.
- Layout. Chat width, interface size (75–140 %) and a focus mode that hides the sidebars. Also available as
/focusand from Ctrl+K. - Task alerts. A desktop notification and a sound when a task finishes or the agent needs your approval or an answer. Optional: only when you're looking away, and only for longer tasks.
- Usage and cost. Exact token counts from every model call: today, the last 7 and 30 days and all time, a 30-day chart, a per-model table and recent calls. Add prices to see spend in eight currencies, and check your DeepSeek balance.
- Smarter saved prompts. Folders, placeholders that fill themselves in (
{clipboard},{date},{time},{day}),{ask:Topic}questions before inserting, and shareable prompt packs. - Settings sync. Back up your Studio settings to a private GitHub Gist and restore them on another computer, by hand or automatically.
- 19 languages. English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português (Brasil), Italiano, Русский, Українська, Polski, Nederlands, Türkçe, Tiếng Việt, Bahasa Indonesia, हिन्दी and العربية (right-to-left). Pick one in the top-right corner of Studio, or leave it on Automatic. The new-chat greeting follows your language too.
Improved
- The Ctrl+K quick switcher now also covers looks, layout, focus mode, alerts, backup, updates and every Studio page.
- The
/themecommand lists your saved looks.
Updating
From 1.3, press Update now in Studio (or turn on auto-updates), then restart DeepSeek Harness. From an older version, use Plugins → Add plugin → github:IRdotAI/dsh-studio.
Your existing settings carry over. Nothing new is switched on until you turn it on.
Studio 1.3.0
Studio can now update itself.
- An update banner and a dot on the sidebar icon when a new version is out, with Update now, Turn on auto-updates and What's new.
- New Updates tab listing every release: Update, Reinstall, or Downgrade if a new version gives you trouble.
- Auto-updates check GitHub every 6 hours.
- Installs go through DeepSeek Harness's plugin manager and take effect on the next restart. Settings are backed up before every install.
Coming from 1.1.0 or 1.2.0? Update once with Plugins → Add plugin → github:IRdotAI/dsh-studio; after that, Studio handles updates itself.
