This page explains why certain popular optimization mods are excluded from the default Lumina modlist. To keep the pack stable, lightweight, and 100% vanilla-friendly, these choices were made based on compatibility, efficiency, and hardware testing.
1. Moonrise
- Reason: Serious compatibility issues.
- Details: Moonrise conflicts directly with several core performance engines in this pack. If you want to manually test your game with Moonrise, you must first remove C2ME, VMP, Fast Noise, and ScalableLux to prevent immediate crashes.
2. Vulcan Mod
- Reason: Lack of hardware support for testing.
- Details: This mod is excluded because it is not supported by the low-end device used to test and build Lumina. Because its stability and performance cannot be personally verified, it is left out of the main distribution.
- Reason: Outclassed by the default setup.
- Details: These are excluded because Optimized Block Entities delivers superior overall performance and stability for Lumina's vanilla-focused configuration.
4. Starlight
- Reason: Redundant lighting engine.
- Details: Starlight is unnecessary here because Lumina uses ScalableLux, which handles lighting optimizations more efficiently for our target hardware.
- Reason: Redundant particle optimizations.
- Details: These mods are omitted because Smart Particles already handles particle performance perfectly while keeping the modlist light.
6. Gnetum
- Reason: Negligible impact on vanilla gameplay.
- Details: Gnetum offers almost no noticeable benefit to vanilla Minecraft. It is primarily useful in massive modpacks with extensive GUI elements (like JEI/REI). For Lumina's vanilla-friendly scope, its performance impact is negligible.
If you have thoroughly tested other performance mods that you think fit Lumina's criteria, feel free to suggest them on our Discord Server.
