Release notes

Version is defined in the root VERSION file.
Bump that file first, then build and tag — everything else reads from it.

Release checklist

Update VERSION (semver: MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH)
Sync visible strings if needed (About box is fine to leave for next publish — installer/csproj read VERSION)
Build:

Publish GitHub Release (optional but recommended):
