TomJerry Recompiled 0.2.4

Choose a tag to compare

@IraFunesto IraFunesto released this 04 Oct 21:23

Static recompilation of Tom and Jerry in House Trap (PAL, SLES-03181) with a widescreen mod (16:9, 21:9, 32:9, fit to window): full floor at the screen edges, HUD anchored to the corners, widescreen kept while paused, optional smaller HUD and 30 fps NTSC timing.

New in 0.2.4

  • Launcher cover art (PAL box art) and a Tom game icon for the executable and window.

New in 0.2.3

  • LOADING screens are centred: no black band at the top and no cut-off bottom.
  • Widescreen is used only during a match, so LOADING screens and menus stay 4:3 without leftover images at the sides.
  • Italian text fix (on by default): "SI" in the pause and options menus is now readable. The original Italian text used an accented I that the game's font does not have, so it showed as an orange block (the same happens on other emulators).
  • VSync on high-refresh monitors (on by default, OpenGL): no more tearing on 120/144/165 Hz screens without G-SYNC or driver settings. Game speed is unchanged.

Features

  • HUD size: 100 / 85 / 75 / 65 % (default 75 %).
  • Frame rate: 30 fps NTSC timing (default, the speed the game was designed for) or 25 fps PAL. Music is unchanged.

This package does not include the game or a Sony BIOS. You need your own copy of the disc (.cue/.bin) and Python 3:

  1. Extract the zip into a new folder and run TomJerry_Recompiled.exe.
  2. Select your disc and follow the "Generate & rebuild" wizard: the game is compiled on your PC.
  3. A Sony BIOS is optional: without one, OpenBIOS (free, MIT-licensed) is used.

Enable widescreen from the launcher's Mods menu ("Widescreen" feature, off by default). Mods are turned off automatically during netplay matches, so online play is 4:3 at 25 fps.

Updating from an earlier version: extract 0.2.3 into a new folder and run the wizard again; the centred loading screens need the regenerated game.

TomJerry Recompiled 0.2.2

@IraFunesto IraFunesto released this 04 Oct 20:10

Fixes in 0.2.2

  • The level-select book stays in 4:3 while turning pages (it no longer flashes repeated images at the sides).

Fixes in 0.2.1

  • Widescreen: the thin gap between the two split-screen views no longer keeps leftover images (for example the "CHASE!" banner) in the side strips.
  • Smaller HUD: the health bar segments no longer show a gap between red and green, and the bar sits correctly inside its frame.

  2. Select your disc and follow the "Generate & rebuild" wizard: the game is compiled on your PC.
  3. A Sony BIOS is optional: without one, OpenBIOS (free, MIT-licensed) is used.

Enable the mod from the launcher's Mods menu ("Widescreen" feature, off by default). Mods are turned off automatically during netplay matches, so online play is 4:3 at 25 fps.

Tearing on high-refresh monitors: the runtime only uses driver vsync when the monitor runs at the game's rate (60 Hz). On 120/144/165 Hz screens enable G-SYNC/FreeSync for windowed and fullscreen, or set the monitor to 60 Hz.

@IraFunesto IraFunesto released this 04 Oct 19:11

Static recompilation of Tom and Jerry in House Trap (PAL, SLES-03181) with a widescreen mod (16:9, 21:9, 32:9, fit to window): full floor at the screen edges, HUD anchored to the corners, widescreen kept while paused.

New in 0.2.0

  • HUD size option (100 / 85 / 75 / 65 %, default 75 %): draws the in-game HUD smaller so its low-resolution art looks sharper.
  • Frame rate option (default 30 fps): runs the console on NTSC video timing, the speed the game was designed for (the PAL release runs at 25 fps and does not compensate). Music is unchanged. Choose 25 fps for the original PAL behaviour.

Enable the mod from the launcher's Mods menu ("Widescreen" feature, off by default). Mods are turned off automatically during netplay matches, so online play is 4:3 at 25 fps.

Updating from 0.1.x: extract 0.2.0 into a new folder and run the wizard again; the new options need the rebuilt game.

TomJerry Recompiled 0.1.2

@IraFunesto IraFunesto released this 04 Oct 17:14

Static recompilation of Tom and Jerry in House Trap (PAL, SLES-03181) with a widescreen mod (16:9, 21:9, 32:9, fit to window): full floor at the screen edges, HUD anchored to the corners, widescreen kept while paused.

Fixes in 0.1.2

  • Netplay: the launcher rejected every disc with "Disc TOC fingerprint does not match this build's required dump". Fixed.

Fixes in 0.1.1

  • The "Generate & rebuild" step failed to compile on a fresh install. Fixed.
  • The widescreen HUD now also works when gameplay overlays are compiled natively.

This package does not include the game or a Sony BIOS. You need your own copy of the disc (.cue/.bin) and Python 3:

  1. Extract the zip and run TomJerry_Recompiled.exe.

Mods are turned off automatically during netplay matches, so online play is 4:3.

Already on 0.1.1? You don't need to rebuild: copy game.toml from this zip over both game.toml in your install folder and build-release\game.toml, then restart the launcher.

@IraFunesto IraFunesto released this 04 Oct 16:17

Static recompilation of Tom and Jerry in House Trap (PAL, SLES-03181) with a widescreen mod (16:9, 21:9, 32:9, fit to window): full floor at the screen edges, HUD anchored to the corners, widescreen kept while paused.

This package does not include the game or a Sony BIOS. You need your own copy of the disc (.cue/.bin) and Python 3:

  1. Extract the zip and run TomJerry_Recompiled.exe.
  2. Select your disc and follow the "Generate & rebuild" wizard: the game is compiled on your PC.
  3. A Sony BIOS is optional: without one, OpenBIOS (free, MIT-licensed) is used.
