These instructions cover plugin version 0.2.2 and the tools introduced in 0.2.0. Open the plugin menu under Plugins > Paradox Modding Toolkit. Shortcuts can be changed in Notepad++'s Shortcut Mapper.
| Feature | Use |
|---|---|
| Completion | Type an identifier or press Ctrl+Space. Inserts plain text; snippet tabstops are not supported. |
| Hover | Keep the pointer over a symbol. A diagnostic at that position is included in the calltip. |
| Go to definition | Press F12. When several definitions are returned, the plugin opens the first and reports the count. |
| Find references | Press Shift+F12. Open a result to jump to its location. Declarations are included. |
| Workspace symbols | Enter a query in the Symbols tab and choose Find symbols. |
| Outline | Open the Outline tab to see symbols in the current file. |
| Problems | Filter server-reported diagnostics by severity or current file. This is not a scan of every unopened file. |
| Rename | Press F2, enter the new name, and choose Preview rename. |
| Quick fixes | Place the caret on a diagnostic, choose Quick fixes, then open a result to preview it. |
| Format document | Choose Format document from the plugin menu. |
| Signature help | Press Ctrl+Shift+Space. Automatic requests can also run while typing. |
| Scope at caret | Choose Scope at caret to inspect the server's scope result. |
| Insert snippet | Choose Insert snippet to select a plain-text snippet. |
| Folding | Use the fold margin. Refreshing fold ranges preserves collapsed blocks. |
| Semantic colors | Adds server token colors to lexical syntax colors. Lexical colors remain available while the server starts. |
Coverage depends on the game, file type, and available server data. An empty result can mean that there is no result for that location.

Rename and supported quick fixes show the affected files and before/after text in the Changes tab. Choose Apply preview after reviewing the rows.
Edits are restricted to the active mod. Before applying, the plugin checks target buffers for changed text, closed files, read-only state, and relevant document versions. Editing text invalidates the preview, so request a fresh one after making changes.
Changes to existing files remain in unsaved tabs. Each existing file has its own undo step. Save the modified tabs when ready.
A localization quick fix can create a file on disk. New-file creation has no editor undo operation. File deletion and file rename operations are not supported. Actions that require an unsupported editor command do not execute.

Plugin version 0.2.2 binds a completion result to the document, caret, and server session that requested it. Moving the caret or changing the document makes an old result unusable. The plugin checks the context again before insertion and applies the validated server range without extending it to a different caret position.
A discarded popup is expected when you move or type before the result arrives. Press Ctrl+Space at the desired position to request a fresh result. These changes are not in the existing 0.2.0 archive.
In 0.2.2, unchanged semantic tokens keep their colors while the next server response is pending. Tokens changed by an edit use lexical colors until a current semantic result arrives. Folding uses the editor's fold margin and preserves the separate change-history gutter, fixing the orange lines seen after edits in 0.2.0.
Version 0.2.2 declares its existing support for versioned document edits and file creation. This lets LSP 0.3.8 offer localization fixes and rename symbols in unsaved buffers. Existing edit previews and change checks still apply.
