Jobee'sLair 0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 19 Oct 03:37

Jobee'sLair 0.4.1

Install this one by hand: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/, then open it. Updating from inside the app can't cross this change. Your download list and play time carry over; settings, favorites, feeds and your TorBox API key start fresh, so set them up again. The old home-screen icon can be deleted.

Fixed

  • Jobee'sLair can now be installed next to Overdrive. The two shared one app ID, so the console treated them as the same app and only one could be installed at a time (they also wrote to the same saved queue file). Jobee'sLair now has its own ID.

Changed

  • A shorter README and installation guide, with new screenshots.

Updating

  • From 0.4.0 or earlier: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/, as above.
  • From 0.4.1 on: open the update dialog and select Download and install, or turn on Install updates automatically in Settings → About.

Jobee'sLair 0.4.0

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 18 Oct 19:56

Jobee'sLair 0.4.0

A stability release: nothing new to learn, but the app is faster, fully translated and easier to debug.

Changed

  • Every language is complete. The 13 translations only covered the screens from the first release, so about half the app (Library, Make Room, link health, TorBox, browser capture, updates and more) showed in English. All of it is translated now.
  • A new reveal after the startup notice. Sparks spiral into the middle of the screen, the JL mark pops out of them with a flash and two rings, then flies into its place in the top island as the store fades in.
  • The version is always in sight: a small tab under the logo in the top island (v0.4.0), not only in Settings.
  • Faster catalog search and filters. A search does about a third of the work it did, and so does the filter sheet when you change a filter. Redrawing it with nothing changed costs almost nothing.
  • Faster source lists. Ranking a game's sources does less than half the work, and TorBox's list of supported hosts is prepared once instead of on every check.

Fixed

  • When the console's browser could not be opened for a browser capture, the download stopped with only "needs a web browser". The real reason is now shown.

Added

  • A debug log at /data/ps5-react/PPSA99058/logs/jobeeslair.log, readable over FTP, for when something goes wrong. It stays small (about 1 MB at most), and API keys, tokens, email addresses and link query strings are blanked out before anything is written.
  • CHANGELOG.md, also included in the image's /docs folder.

For developers

  • The app's tests now live in tests/ and run with npm test (logic) and npm run test:render (screens), needing only Node.js 22. They run on every push and pull request, and before every build.
  • The tests also check that every language has every string with the right placeholders, and that no app code uses JavaScript date features the console's engine lacks.
  • The download queue is split into smaller modules: browser capture (capture-flow.js), moving games between drives (queue-moves.js), and the checks a download passes before ShadowMount+ sees it (payload-checks.js).

Updating

  • From 0.2.1 or later: open the update dialog and select Download and install, or turn on Install updates automatically in Settings → About.
  • From 0.2.0 or earlier: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/.

Jobee'sLair 0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 18 Oct 03:20

Jobee'sLair 0.3.0

Added

  • No typing links with the controller. For a host only the console's browser can get past, pass its check and Jobee'sLair catches the file link out of the browser by itself, checks it is the game's file (its title ID in the name, or its size) and downloads it in the app. A file that names no game is shown to you first, and typing the link in is still there if a capture fails.
    • VikingFile is back. It is the catalog's biggest host, and many games gained sources.
    • FileKeeper downloads with no browser step at all.
  • Learns which hosts work on your console. Every capture's result is remembered per host. Hosts that work are marked Auto-capture and ranked first; hosts that keep failing are marked Rarely works here, ranked last, never picked for you, and a note appears before you're sent to them. Nothing is hidden.
  • TorBox (optional). Add your TorBox API key in Settings → Debrid providers and use Test connection. Every source on a host TorBox supports gets a TorBox button that downloads it in the app, with no browser step; TorBox Instant marks files TorBox already holds. The key stays on the console and is sent only to api.torbox.app.
  • Download speed limit in Settings: no limit, 25, 10 or 5 MB/s. App updates are never limited.
  • 13.60 compatibility badges. Each source shows what it is (Folder Dump, .exfat Image, FFPKG, FFPFS Image, Backport) and whether it runs on 13.60 with ShadowMount+. A PS5 fake package is marked FPKG (<=11.60): it installs but does not launch on 13.60.
  • Tips when they matter, in the note under Download: backport files only, DLC, a label asking for newer firmware than the console reports, or what to do on a browser host's page.

Changed

  • Link health no longer hides sources. A link the check thinks is gone is tagged Broken link and ranked last, but stays in the list and can still be tried. One that doesn't answer is tagged Offline. If the picked source's link looks gone, the button moves to a source the app downloads itself, never to one that needs the browser.

Fixed

  • A file whose format the catalog doesn't state is routed by its header or its name (an image to homebrew/, a PKG to install). A small web page sent in place of a game now fails as "Not a game file" instead of finishing as a useless .binary. Older .binary downloads are fixed at launch, and a PKG whose header names another game is flagged.
  • "Backport files" downloads are no longer grouped into broken multi-part sets.

Credits

Browser capture, the speed limit, the FileKeeper resolver, file routing and the set fix are adapted from Overdrive 1.0.6 by MyLuxy, whose capture is in turn adapted from Orbit Store by saawant12 (GPL-3.0-or-later).

Updating

  • From 0.2.1 or later: open the update dialog and select Download and install, or turn on Install updates automatically in Settings → About.
  • From 0.2.0 or earlier: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/.

Not tested on a console before release: browser capture on every host, a live TorBox key, and the speed limit on the PS5.

Jobee'sLair v0.2.3

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 17 Oct 03:58

Jobee'sLair 0.2.3

Added

  • Link health: a game's download links are checked in the background while you look at its page or quick preview. Each check is a single HEAD request, sent only while no download needs the network. Check link health in the source list checks them all at once.
    • A link that is gone (404 or 410, confirmed by a second request) is greyed out as Link unavailable and never picked.
    • A link that keeps timing out is tagged Not responding and ranked after the hosts that answer.
    • The best working mirror is picked instead. Rate-limited hosts are left alone, and nothing is marked on one failed request.

Fixed

  • Space check for downloads of unknown size: most catalog releases don't state their size, so the free-space check before a download had nothing to compare against, and a download could fill the drive. The space is now checked again as soon as the server reports the size; a download that won't fit stops with "Not enough space" and offers Make Room. Its partial file is kept, so it can resume.
  • In-app updates:
    • The new version now confirms it started as soon as it opens, not after the startup notice is closed. Before, closing the app at the notice could roll a working update back.
    • A release whose files report a different version than its tag no longer loops. It fails once with the reason and isn't downloaded automatically again.
    • The build now refuses to package an app whose package version doesn't match its version number.
  • Faster game pages: "More like this" is worked out once per game instead of sorting the whole catalog on every redraw (about 4x faster in testing).

Updating

  • From 0.2.1: open the update dialog and select Download and install, or turn on Install updates automatically in Settings → About.
  • From 0.2.0 or earlier: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/.

Jobee'sLair v0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 16 Oct 23:20

Jobee'sLair 0.2.1

Added

  • One-click updates: the update dialog now has Download and install:
    1. Jobee'sLair downloads the release's update.zip and JobeesLair.exfat in the background, onto the drive the app's image is on. A progress bar shows each file.
    2. Each file is checked against the SHA-256 GitHub publishes for it. The unpacked update.zip is checked for this title, this version and an eboot.bin.
    3. Restart to apply closes the app. A small updater waits for ShadowMount+ to release the image, then swaps the new image in with a rename, so the old image is never half-overwritten. Then it reopens the app.
    4. If the new version doesn't start, the updater puts the previous image back, and the app shows why.
  • Install updates automatically (Settings → About): new releases download by themselves and are applied the next time you close the app.
  • Update badge: the header shows the download's progress, then "Restart to update" once the update is staged.
  • Update downloads give way to game downloads and wait while the download queue needs the network.
  • Support development (Settings → About): an optional Buy Me a Coffee link with a QR code. Nothing in the app is locked or limited, and it never asks.

Fixed

  • Settings could freeze while feeds refreshed (8 seconds after launch, or on Refresh feeds). Feed refreshes now run in small slices between frames.
  • Settings no longer re-reads the console's sensors and user on every draw. The phone-companion status redraws only when it changes.

Updating from 0.2.0

In-app installation starts with 0.2.1, so this update is still installed by hand: copy the new JobeesLair.exfat over the old one in homebrew/. Later releases can install themselves when the app runs from a ShadowMount+ .exfat image.

Jobee'sLair v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 16 Oct 21:35

Jobee'sLair 0.2.0

Added

  • Library: a grid of your games showing art, install status and play time. Sort by recently added, last played, most played or size.

  • Play time: each game's total play time and last-played date, read from the ShadowMount+ log.

  • Make Room: a three-step planner for freeing space on a drive:

    1. Clear leftovers: extracted archives, orphaned downloads, unused backports and partial copies.
    2. Move games to another drive, least played first. Pinned games and your five most played are left out.
    3. Delete games. Nothing is selected by default.

Downloads pause until the space is free, then the waiting download starts.

  • Move games between drives: copies are verified and pick up where they stopped. ShadowMount+ registers the game at its new path. A move that stops partway leaves the original untouched.

  • Launch diagnosis: each game shows Installed, Played or Won't start. "See why" shows the matching log lines.

  • ShadowMount+ health: library tiles flag a lost source, a missing file, or an image ShadowMount+ is still checking.

  • Download checks:

    • Images are size-checked before they move into homebrew/.
    • Extracted games are checked for eboot.bin and param.json.
    • The game page warns when a game needs newer firmware than the console has.
  • Backports: installed to homebrew/backports/<TITLE_ID>/. The source picker shows whether this console needs one.

  • Native API v19: FileSystem.copyAsync copies in the background, verifies the copy, can resume, and can check download receipts.

Changed

  • Delete from disk now removes everything that belongs to the download (images, partial files, extracted folders, backport), then uninstalls the game from ShadowMount+. Mounted images are never deleted.
  • Cancelling a stopped download now deletes its files instead of refusing.
  • ShadowMount+ requests now time out instead of hanging, and background checks no longer slow down downloads.
  • The update check now puts beta versions in the right order (beta.10 after beta.2).

Fixed

  • Archives with more than one image (for example a game plus its update) now track every image instead of only the first, with the base game first. A game counts as installed only when ShadowMount+ has registered every image, and images it skipped for sharing a title ID are listed. Delete and Move now cover the whole set.
  • A delete could hang on "removing" while a download was running.
  • On the phone companion, browser-only sources showed the release name instead of the host.

Jobee'sLair v0.1.0 - Initial Release

Choose a tag to compare

@JVK3R JVK3R released this 16 Oct 03:09

Initial release of Jobee'sLair, a homebrew content browser and download manager for the jailbroken PS5 (Title ID PPSA99058). Proudly created alongside AI by JVK3R.

What it does

  • Browses a bundled catalog of PS5 homebrew and content, plus up to 4 catalog feeds you add yourself, and downloads files directly to the console (internal storage, USB or extended drive).
  • Phone companion app: browse, queue downloads and manage feeds from your phone. It is off until you turn it on, and you set your own 6-digit PIN the first time.
  • Live counter of indexed titles and how many have a direct download link, covering the bundled catalog and all of your feeds.
  • Automatic mirror fallback: each feed can have mirror addresses, and a refresh falls back to a mirror if the feed's address is down. The last good copy stays on the console.
  • Update check at launch and every 24 hours. It only reports a newer release; nothing is installed for you.
  • Content neutral: no copyrighted files are hosted in the repository or the app. You choose the feeds and what you download. A DMCA notice and takedown process are in the README and LICENSE.

Installation

  1. Requires a jailbroken PS5 running ShadowMount+.
  2. Download JobeesLair.exfat and verify its SHA-256 below.
  3. Copy it into a folder named homebrew at the top of an exFAT USB drive.
  4. Plug the drive into the PS5. ShadowMount+ installs it.
  5. Open Jobee'sLair from the home screen.

update.zip is the app payload as a zip, without the exFAT image. Full steps: INSTALLATION-GUIDE.md.
