What's new

German, and a language picker on the very first screen — before you are asked to write anything down.

  • German joins the list, bringing the wallet to twelve languages. The original ten were chosen from the currencies the wallet quotes, and that rule quietly missed German-speaking users entirely — where people hold DigiByte is not the same question as which currency they price it in.

  • More importantly, you can now choose your language on the first screen, before a wallet exists. Until now the picker lived in Settings, which sits behind creating a wallet — so someone who reads no English had to record a recovery phrase and set a PIN, in English, before reaching the control that would have let them read any of it. The button names the language you are currently in, in that language’s own script, because an English word is no way out of English.

  • Most of the app behind the setup screens is now translated too: the home screen, sending, receiving, transaction details, the navigation bar, all of Settings, the DigiAsset screens and the recovery flow.

  • Several of those screens had never been translated in any language — including both PIN screens, the background-sync prompt, and the warning shown before the wallet erases itself. They were English for everyone, in all twelve languages, and it took someone reading a German build screen by screen to notice.

  • These translations are machine-assisted and have not been checked by native speakers. The wallet says so, in every language, and points at Settings → Report a bug. The warnings about your recovery phrase and your coins are the ones we most want checked.
