New in 1.4.0

  • Individual HUD colors: a 14-entry list, with 12 entries per page and separate resets.
  • Smooth color wheel: click and drag, adjust brightness, or enter precise 0–255 R/G/B values and press Set.
  • Matching overlay design: full-height HUD Color panel, green border, transparent background, and vertically stacked RGB fields beside the wheel.
  • Center HUD size: scale center instruments around their center without moving them across the screen.
  • Wingman boxes: resize or completely hide W boxes while keeping names and JOKER callsigns visible.
  • Timer and wingman colors: clock digits, onscreen boxes/names/callsigns, offscreen arrows and their names.
  • Smoother updates: unified frame scheduling replaces competing update paths associated with earlier overlay failures and trailing names.

HUD color entries

All HUD; Score / Target; Timer; Center HUD; Radar Grid; Weapon Counts; Aircraft Icon; Portrait Border; D-pad; Wingman Arrows; Edge Names; Wingman Boxes; Callsigns; Wingman Names.

All HUD changes the shared color and clears individual overrides. Use All HUD Color removes only the selected group's override so it follows the shared color again. The group's ↺ restores its original game color. The reset beside HUD COLOR restores all original HUD colors.

Install or update

  1. Install experimental UE4SS separately beside Game/Binaries/Win64/AceCombat8.exe. Stable UE4SS has not been validated for this configuration.
  2. Download AC8-Mod-Control-1.4.0.zip, extract it, and run AC8 Mod Control.exe. No separate Python or .NET installation is needed.
  3. Close the game before updating. Select your game folder and every mod option you want enabled, then click Apply Selected Mods. Unchecked options are disabled when applying. Backups are automatic.
  4. For the first application, use No EAC launch, load your campaign, and let the game save. A fresh campaign must have a save before applying mods.
  5. After that, launch normally from your usual shortcut. Press F9 during flight to open the overlay, then HUD COLOR. The launcher does not need to remain open.

Position, size, and color settings save automatically. Cockpit/HUD/chase FOV, corner-panel layout controls, ultrawide preset, and separate circular-arrow resets remain available.

Current coverage

Enemy aircraft boxes, the selected enemy aircraft name, active-target arrows, missile-lock indicators, and other remaining markers are not yet individual color controls. Score / Target affects the score panel, not floating enemy labels. Radar Grid does not recolor every radar contact. Damage colors and some separate stores/instrument symbols retain their game behavior.

Wingman testing covered JOKER 2/3/4 — Professor, Tasha, and Noise. The author confirmed the current overlay and offscreen names working smoothly. Local launcher and HUD regression checks passed; extended sessions and every mission/localization remain unverified.
