B2recomp v0.2.7
B2recomp v0.2.7 fixes a blurry picture on screens with display scaling and a crash in Tag Climax’s online mode. As before, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
Next Update will include better stability hopefully across all systems, working on adding HDR support after this next release. So for now have HDR disabled when playing the Recomp
Fixed
- Sharp picture on screens with display scaling. On a screen where Windows display scaling is above 100 % (common on 4K monitors and laptops), Windows gave the game a smaller “virtual” screen and stretched its picture: on a 4K screen at 300 %, the game drew 1280 × 720 and Windows enlarged it three times, so even a high Resolution scale looked blurry. The game now tells Windows it handles scaling itself: Borderless and Fullscreen use your screen’s real resolution, and a Windowed game keeps the size it had before. At 100 % scaling nothing changes.
- Tag Climax online no longer closes the game. Choosing Online and then Quick Match showed “Error Code: 2618-0006” and then the game closed. Online play cannot work in B2recomp (it cannot connect to Nintendo’s online services), but now the game says so properly: a short message explains that online play is not available, the game shows its own “Not connected to the Internet.” and you are back in the Online Menu.
How to use
- Unzip B2recomp-builder-b3a6dc6.zip into a new folder.
- Start B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC).
- When the build is done, choose your settings and press Play.
Updating from v0.2.x: after the build, copy these folders from your old B2recomp folder into the new one:
- build\play\userdata (your saves);
- config (your settings and controls);
- optionally cache, so the game does not prepare its shaders again on the first start.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about B2recomp.exe because it is not signed: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Status
Both fixes were tested on Windows with an NVIDIA card: the display scaling fix at 100 % scaling and with a switch to 150 % while playing borderless (the window sizes for scaled screens were checked with a test setting), the Tag Climax fix by choosing Quick Match several times. If something looks wrong, a report helps: press Report... in the launcher and attach b2recomp-report.zip to an issue (never attach game files).

B2recomp Linux Test 5
This is the fifth test release of the native Linux version of B2recomp. It is a pre-release: the Windows version is v0.2.7. As always, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
New since Linux Test 4
- Tag Climax online no longer closes the game (the fix of Windows v0.2.7).
(The display-scaling fix of Windows v0.2.7 is Windows-only.)
Updating from an earlier Linux test release
Unzip B2recomp-linux-builder-2c8652b.zip over your old B2recomp folder and start B2recomp. It says that B2recomp was updated; press Build (a short rebuild, about two minutes), then Play. Your settings and saves stay.
New Install
- Unzip B2recomp-linux-builder-2c8652b.zip where you want to keep the game, for example ~/Games.
- Open the folder and start B2recomp: double-click it, or in a terminal run sh ./B2recomp.
- Choose your dump folder (one folder that holds exefs/ and romfs/ of Bayonetta 2, version 1.2), press Build (5 to 20 minutes, depending on your CPU), then Play.
Known limits of this test release
- The game times its frames with its own 60 Hz clock, not with your monitor’s refresh as the Windows version does. On a screen that is not exactly 60 Hz you may see a slight judder now and then.
- The renderer finds out which textures the game changed by checksumming them (on Windows the system tracks this), which costs a little more CPU per frame.
- The Tag Climax fix was tested on Windows; the Linux build compiles the same change, but it has not been tried on Linux yet.
- Tested on Arch-based systems (CachyOS) with an NVIDIA RTX 4060 laptop and an AMD RX 560, on KDE and Hyprland (Wayland). Other distributions should work, but are untested.
Reporting Problems
Press Report... in the launcher, or run sh scripts/report.sh in the B2recomp folder. It makes b2recomp-report.tar.gz with the logs and your PC’s details, and nothing of the game. Attach it to an issue with a few words on what happened. Never attach game files.
SHA-256 of the zip: c23000c597b4f244c068d4dccbdf895e52b78fad177b64f7397ab02fd51a66a3
B2recomp v0.2.6
B2recomp v0.2.6 fixes missing icons and colours on AMD Radeon cards and makes crash reports more useful. As before, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
DISCLAIMER
- If you decide to open a issue, give me a couple details about your situation in the best wording you can put it in then supply the report zip. If both of these things are not done when opening the issue it will be closed accordingly ( Can't do anything blind ) Also make sure your AMD drivers are up to date and that you have the latest release of the recomp.
Fixed
- Missing icons and colours on AMD Radeon cards (seen on an RX 6950 XT). Some of the game’s textures came out blank: the tutorial’s combo icons, the letters on the button icons, and the colour of the health bars. When B2recomp creates a texture, it first clears it and then copies the game’s pixels in. Nothing told the graphics driver to keep that order: NVIDIA’s driver kept it anyway, while AMD’s sometimes ran the clear last, wiping the picture. The two steps are now explicitly ordered. On NVIDIA cards nothing changes on screen, and the speed is the same.
Better reports
- How the game ended. If the game closes unexpectedly, the launcher now writes the exit code and what it means as the last line of the game’s log (build\play\stdout.txt).
- Windows’ own crash records. The Report... zip now includes windows-errors.txt: the crash (Application Error) and hang (Application Hang) records Windows kept of B2recomp’s programs over the last 30 days. They show crashes that the game’s own error handling never sees, for example a crash inside the graphics driver.
- The exact build. The builder package now has a VERSION file, so a report names the build it came from.
How to use
- Unzip B2recomp-builder-60f5552.zip into a new folder.
- Start B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC).
- When the build is done, choose your settings and press Play.
Updating from v0.2.x: after the build, copy these folders from your old B2recomp folder into the new one:
- build\play\userdata (your saves);
- config (your settings and controls);
- optionally cache, so the game does not prepare its shaders again on the first start.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about B2recomp.exe because it is not signed: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Status
The texture fix was tested on an NVIDIA card: the blank textures were reproduced there on purpose, the fixed build plays the standard test route with no errors, and its speed is unchanged. It has not been confirmed on an AMD card yet. If you have one, a report after the tutorial helps: press Report... in the launcher and attach b2recomp-report.zip to an issue (never attach game files).

B2recomp v0.2.5
B2recomp v0.2.5 fixes the lip sync of the cinematics at frame rates above 60.
Fixed
- Cinematics at 120 fps: voices and lips stay together. With the frame rate set above 60, the pictures of the cinematics slowly ran ahead of the voices: by about half a second after a minute and a half of the prologue. The game plays its cinematics at 30 frames per second and holds the last picture of every shot for one of its frames before it cuts to the next shot. At 120 fps that hold was four times too short, so every cut gained a little time. The hold now lasts as long as the game intended at any frame rate. At 60 fps nothing changes. If you set the frame rate to 60 only for the cinematics, you can set it back to 120.
How to use
- Unzip
B2recomp-builder-68c2d08.zipinto a new folder. - Start
B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC). - When the build is done, choose your settings and press Play.
Updating from v0.2.x: after the build, copy these folders from your old B2recomp folder into the new one:
build\play\userdata(your saves);config(your settings and controls);- optionally
cache, so the game does not prepare its shaders again on the first start.
The fix is applied while the game is built, so a new Build is needed: copying files into an old folder is not enough.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about B2recomp.exe because it is not signed: choose "More info", then "Run anyway".
Status
Tested on an NVIDIA card at 120 fps with the prologue cinematic, compared with 60 fps picture by picture and against the sound, and in the first fight (no change there). If the sound still drifts in a cinematic at your frame rate, a report helps: press Report... in the launcher and attach b2recomp-report.zip to an issue, with the chapter and the cinematic (never attach game files).

B2recomp v0.2.4: AMD effects fix, cinematic sound sync on G-Sync / FreeSync screens
B2recomp v0.2.4 fixes two problems players reported: effects missing on AMD Radeon cards, and sound drifting away from the pictures on G-Sync / FreeSync screens. As before, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
DISCLAIMER
If you decide to open a issue, give me a couple details about your situation in the best wording you can put it in then supply the report zip. If both of these things are not done when opening the issue it will be closed accordingly ( Can't do anything blind ) Also make sure your AMD drivers are up to date and that you have the latest release of the recomp.
Fixed
- Missing effects on AMD Radeon cards (seen on an RX 9070). AMD’s driver refused a few particle shaders, so some effects were not drawn (the log showed THE DRIVER REFUSED lines). Those shaders read a buffer that B2recomp never connected to them: NVIDIA’s driver lets that pass, AMD’s refuses the shader. They are now correct. On the first start only these few shaders are prepared again; everything else in your shader cache stays as it is.
- Sound out of sync in the cinematics on variable-refresh screens (G-Sync / FreeSync). With Vertical sync on Auto, the game’s speed follows the screen’s refresh. A variable-refresh screen can run a little slower than its nominal rate, and the game then ran up to about 2 % slower than the sound, so voices and lips drifted apart. Auto now checks the game’s speed every few seconds: when the refresh drifts, the program’s own 60 Hz clock takes over, and when the refresh is steady again the game follows the screen again. On a screen with a steady 60, 120 or 240 Hz nothing changes. Display still follows the screen in every case, as you chose. If you set Vertical sync to Program clock as a workaround, you can set it back to Auto.
How To Use
- Unzip B2recomp-builder-6dfe53c.zip into a new folder.
- Start B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC).

B2recomp Linux Test 4
This is the fourth test release of the native Linux version of B2recomp. It is a pre-release: the Windows version is v0.2.6. As always, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump
New since Linux Test 3
- Missing icons and colors on AMD cards (the fix of Windows v0.2.6). On an AMD RX 6950 XT under Windows, some of the game’s textures came out blank: the tutorial’s combo icons, the letters on the button icons, and the colour of the health bars. When B2recomp creates a texture, it first clears it and then copies the game’s pixels in, and nothing told the graphics driver to keep that order. Mesa’s AMD driver is allowed to run them out of order too, so the Linux version gets the same fix: the two steps are now explicitly ordered. On NVIDIA cards nothing changes on screen.
- Freeze reports that say where the game is stuck. If no picture reaches the window for a second, B2recomp writes a freeze report (build-linux/game_native_freeze.txt, included by Report...). On Linux it used to say only “threads: 0”. Now it lists every thread, what it is waiting for (including which thread holds a lock another one waits on) and its call stack, as the Windows version does. If the game ever freezes for you, wait about five seconds before closing it, then send the report.

B2recomp Linux Test 3
This is the third test release of the native Linux version of B2recomp. It is a pre-release: the Windows version is v0.2.5. As always, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
I fucked up the tags so this is pointing at my main branch will be fixed when I wake up
New since Linux Test 2
The fix of Windows v0.2.5:
- Cinematics at 120 fps: voices and lips stay together. With the frame rate set above 60, the pictures of the cinematics slowly ran ahead of the voices (reported on this Linux version): by about half a second after a minute and a half of the prologue.
Updating from Linux Test 1 or 2
Unzip B2recomp-linux-builder-d3bcb83.zip over your old B2recomp folder and start B2recomp. It says that B2recomp was updated; press Build (a short rebuild, about two minutes), then Play. Your settings and saves stay. The fix is applied during the build, so the rebuild is needed.
New install
- Unzip
B2recomp-linux-builder-d3bcb83.zipwhere you want to keep the game, for example~/Games. - Open the folder and start
B2recomp: double-click it, or in a terminal runsh ./B2recomp. - Choose your dump folder (one folder that holds

B2recomp Linux Test 2
This is the second test release of the native Linux version of B2recomp. It is a pre-release: the Windows version is v0.2.4. As always, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
NEW SINCE LINUX TEST 1
The fixes of Windows v0.2.4
-
Particle shaders corrected for every graphics driver. A few particle shaders read a buffer that B2recomp never connected to them. NVIDIA’s drivers let that pass, while AMD’s Windows driver refused those shaders, so some effects were missing there. They are now correct on every driver, including Mesa on Linux. On the first start only these few shaders are prepared again.
-
Vertical sync = Auto on G-Sync / FreeSync screens. This fixes the sound drifting away from the pictures in the cinematics on Windows. On Linux it changes nothing yet: the Linux version still times its frames with its own 60 Hz clock (see “Known limits”), which never had this drift.
Updating from Linux Test 1
Unzip B2recomp-linux-builder-a695915.zip over your old B2recomp folder and start B2recomp. It says that B2recomp was updated; press Build (a short rebuild, about two minutes), then Play. Your settings and saves stay.
New Install
- Unzip B2recomp-linux-builder-a695915.zip where you want to keep the game, for example ~/Games.
You need 64-bit Linux from about 2022 or newer with a desktop (X11 or Wayland) and a Vulkan 1.3 driver (Mesa for AMD and Intel, or NVIDIA’s own driver). START HERE.txt in the zip has the details.
SHA-256 of the zip: 3635fdb9a1d8ad3b719158b3c7a3802327e26b913a450098bed69bc173520f69
B2recomp v0.2.3
B2recomp v0.2.3 is a small update for the launcher. As before, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
Fixed
- Launcher without a Play button on high-resolution screens. At high display scaling (for example a 4K screen at 200-300 %), the launcher window was taller than the screen, so the bottom row with Play could be out of reach. The launcher now scales itself down to fit your screen.
New
-
Report... button. At the bottom of the launcher, and on the build screen. It makes b2recomp-report.zip in your B2recomp folder with the logs and your PC’s details (Windows version, CPU, memory, graphics card and driver), and nothing of the game. If you need help, attach that file to an issue with a few words on what happened.
-
AMD Radeon RX 400 / 500 (Polaris) explained in the README. AMD’s Windows driver for these cards lacks Vulkan features B2recomp normally uses, so the game takes a slower path on them. It runs, as confirmed on an RX 560, but builds more shaders while you play the first time. On Linux these cards get the full renderer (https://github.com/K0NL/B2recomp/releases/tag/linux-test-1)
How to use
- Unzip B2recomp-builder-8454a34.zip into a new folder.
- Start B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC).
- When the build is done, choose your settings and press Play.
Updating from v0.2.x: after the build, copy these folders from your old B2recomp folder into the new one:
- build\play\userdata (your saves);
- config (your settings and controls);
- optionally cache, so the game does not prepare its shaders again on the first start.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about B2recomp.exe because it is not signed: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
STATUS
The game itself is unchanged from v0.2.2. Please report problems on the Issues page with the file from Report... (never attach game files).

B2Recomp v0.2.2 Smoother frame timing after stalls on certain System Setups
B2recomp v0.2.2 is a small fix for smoother motion on some PCs. As before, this download contains no game files: the game is built on your PC from your own dump.
DISCLAIMER - If you open a issue with no stdout.txt It will be closed accordingly I can't go into your issue and help resolve it being blind to what is going on to the game on your system compared to what your telling me.
Side Note: Nvidia cards have had no reported issue so far which is what this was originally developed for so AMD cards are bound to encounter issues on windows bc the Vulkan 1.3 driver lacks features on Windows But not Linux so they may be the alternative for AMD for now once I release the linux version
##Fixed
- Uneven motion after a short stall. The game times its frames to your monitor's refresh. On a slower PC (reported on an RX 560 with an i7-4770), a stall of a tenth of a second during play switched that off for the rest of the session, so one frame was shown twice about every 5 seconds. Now the game locks to the refresh again a second later. Nothing changes on PCs where this never happened.
- Included from v0.2.1: the start-up crash with error code 6 on an RX 9070 XT, and tearing / flickering on AMD cards.
How to use
- Unzip
B2recomp-builder-870d9ab.zipinto a new folder. - Start
B2recomp.exe, choose your dump folder and press Build (about 5 minutes on a 16-thread PC). - When the build is done, choose your settings and press Play.
Updating from v0.2.0 or v0.2.1: copy the build\play\userdata folder (your saves) and the config folder (your settings and controls) from your old B2recomp folder into the new one after the build. You can also copy the cache folder, so the game does not prepare its shaders again on the first start.
Windows SmartScreen may warn about B2recomp.exe because it is not signed: choose "More info", then "Run anyway".
Status
Tested on one Windows 11 PC with an NVIDIA GPU (the stall was simulated there). Logs from players (build\play\stdout.txt) are very welcome, especially from AMD cards. Please report problems on the Issues page (never attach game files).
