Fixes for journal papers: loosely set lines, the abstract, and layout analysis.

Download

Either way, keep 2 to 8 GB free for the translation model, depending on which one you choose (2.1 GB for the recommended one).

Install

If you have PaperDuet 0.2 or later, it offers this update by itself; click it and restart.

Otherwise:

Mac

  1. Open the disk image and drag PaperDuet into Applications, replacing the old version if you have one. Open it from there.
  2. The app is not notarized by Apple, so the first time macOS says it cannot check it. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to the message about PaperDuet, click Open Anyway and confirm.

Windows

  1. Run the installer.
  2. First time only: if Windows says “Windows protected your PC,” click More info, then Run anyway.

Your translations, notes and settings stay as they are.

What's new

  • Journal papers set loosely (many Elsevier papers, for example) no longer have lines broken into stray words. Those words used to be translated one by one and drawn over the paragraph, leaving gaps and misplaced text and reference links in the translation.
  • The abstract is translated right after the title, before the introduction, so it no longer stays blank for minutes.
  • When PaperDuet's background reader cannot open a paper on your computer, it now reads the paper the way the reader displays it, instead of stopping at "Layout analysis failed".
  • Dashes in Elsevier papers no longer come through as the letter "e".

The other files below (.app.tar.gz and latest.json) are what the in-app updater downloads; you don't need them.
