First-search setup and additional folders

  • The first discover call prepares a catalog from the active host/profile and task context. No readiness or indexing call is required first.
  • --extra-source and extra_source_paths add folders alongside native discovery. Explicit-source and read-only connections stay separate.
  • Capalith provides navigation, not a mandatory search workflow or a second skill loader. No host plugin, core, dependency, or model changes.
  • Handler-level validation preserves conflicting-input checks in hosts that rewrite JSON Schema not clauses.

Verification

65 source tests passed with warnings treated as errors. The release commit CI passed. All 12 package source and guidance files in the wheel and source archive match the release tree.

A real Hermes pilot of the implementation used one discovery call, resolved a declared companion, and used native skill loading. An independent frozen-candidate review found no blockers. This does not establish natural unprompted adoption or general ranking improvements.

Check downloaded assets against SHA256SUMS. verification.json binds the artifacts to source and CI evidence.

Changelog · Installation · PR #4

This remains an alpha prerelease. After changing a Hermes connection, use its native /reload-mcp in the intended conversation. Package acceptance and profile/session adoption are separate.

Focused skill reading

  • Reuse already-loaded guidance and prefer a permitted native reader for ordinary skill use. Stored inspection has an explicit purpose, not a mandatory duplicate read.
  • Resource-specific CLI and MCP inspection returns identity, catalog status, and the selected resource. Omit the resource path for full audit metadata.

Compatibility note: resource-specific responses omit manifest, versions, resources, and relationships. The full audit route remains unchanged. No new tools, arguments, ranking, model, refresh, activation, or host configuration changes.

Verification

  • 62 source tests and 60 clean installed-runtime tests passed with warnings treated as errors.
  • Wheel and sdist package files match the reviewed source.
  • Fresh MCP version, local hybrid retrieval, compact inspection, full audit access, pinned-model verification, and database immutability passed.
  • One selected-resource JSON response decreased from 19,321 to 17,236 UTF-8 bytes, or 10.79%, with identical instruction text and revision identity.

CI for the release commit passed. verification.json records hashes, scope, and evidence limits. Check downloaded files against SHA256SUMS.

Changelog · Installation · PR #3

This remains an alpha prerelease with the complete shipped feature set. The measurement does not establish general latency, ranking quality, or incremental discovery value. The fresh-host guidance exercise and rollout are recorded separately in #1. Existing long-lived sessions need a native MCP reload to receive updated server instructions.

Full Capalith installation

This release includes the CLI, MCP server, bundled agent guidance, and semantic-search dependencies by default. capalith-model provision downloads the pinned local model and verifies its hashes. capalith-model verify checks an existing model.

Agent-led setup now discovers supported host skill locations independently of installation paths, accepts workspace and custom host-home context, preserves context during refresh, and switches projects without reconnecting. Hermes profile-relative directories and linked skill-directory handling are fixed in Capalith, without changing Hermes core.

Verification

  • 61 source tests and 59 clean installed-runtime tests passed with warnings treated as errors.
  • Standard wheel installation, all three console commands, pinned-model provisioning and verification, and offline semantic ranking passed.
  • CI passed for ea9a808a8122e736d6a2123420495d5e136631ec.
  • Downloaded artifacts can be checked against SHA256SUMS. verification.json records candidate hashes, test results, and evidence boundaries.

This is an alpha prerelease with the complete shipped feature set. Earlier Hermes and Codex context pilots are identified as prior-version evidence in the verification record. Live Claude Code acceptance, complete native host inventories, and guaranteed agent tool choice are not claimed. Native host trust and activation remain host-owned.
