Creating a map

Before you can start using the core feature of CSMinecraft, you first need to create a map. This wiki page shows you how to do it and gives you a few tips on how to make a good map.

Creating a new map

The boundaries

First, you need to define the boundaries of your map. Those are used by CSMinecraft to determine where the combat takes place, where the tnt can be placed and where the players spawns are.

The main bounds

  • Command: /csbounds
  • Particles: The same as the ones seen when using bonemeal
  • Use: Determines where and where not players can move

The Spawns

CT-Spawn

  • Command: /csspawn ct
  • Particles: Water splashes
  • Use: Determines where counter-terrorists spawn

T-Spawn

  • Command: /csspawn t
  • Particles: Enchanted hits
  • Use: Determines where terrorists spawn

The bombsites

Bombsite A

  • Command: /csbomb a
  • Particles: Flames
  • Use: Marks one of the two areas where the tnt can be placed

Bombsite B

  • Command: /csbomb b
  • Particles: Smoke
  • Use: Marks one of the two areas where the tnt can be placed

Finishing a map

  • Command: /csfinish

Tips for creating a map

  • Although you might assume that the map should be semetrical or the teams should be equal distance from both bombsites, the counter-terrorists need to be able to defend both bombsites and assert themselves before the terrorists arrive.
  • You can test a map with another member of the server team with the two commands "/csforcestart" and "/csforcestop"

What you need to consider

  • The counter-terrorists should arrive earlier at the bombsites than the terrorists to enable them to defend the bombsite
  • Try not to make too many hiding spots in entrances to make players not count on luck while looking for players.
  • Make the actual playable area a bit narrow to make players develop strategies on how to access and defend bombsites.
