RazorCAD 0.13.0-beta
The fourth public beta of RazorCAD, a parametric 3D part modeler for Windows 10 and 11 with a classic feature-tree interface. This one is about reliability, speed and everyday ease. Parts reopen ready to edit and references survive bigger edits. It also adds inch units, cosmetic threads, balloons and bill-of-materials tables, gear mates and an interference check for assemblies.
Beta: expect bugs. If you make DXFs for manufacturing, please double-check the exported files for now.
Download
- RazorCAD-Setup-0.13.0-beta.exe: the installer (includes RazorCAD.exe)
- RazorCAD-User-Manual-0.13.0-beta.pdf: the user manual (also online at razorcad.com/docs)
Already have 0.12.0-beta? Run the new setup: it updates the installed copy, and your parts, assemblies and drawings open as before. From this version on, RazorCAD tells you itself when a newer version is out.
What's new since 0.12.0-beta
Reliability and speed
- References that survive edits. Fillets, chamfers and other features find their edges and faces again after bigger changes, and no longer take a nearby edge of a different kind. Tools ▸ Fix References lists features that failed, with the edges or faces they lost: Edit, Remove missing or Suppress. Click the red error count in the status bar to open it.
- Mates follow their parts by geometry, also when a part's faces are numbered differently after an edit. A mate whose face is gone is marked in the tree; Tools ▸ Fix Mates lists them.
- Parts reopen ready to edit. The geometry after each feature is kept with the stored model, so the first change after opening is as quick as any later one (a test part was ready in 0.09 s instead of 1.8 s).
- Faster patterns of bosses and other added features: 200 bosses in 2 s instead of 9 s.
- The geometry kernel now handles one request at a time, which fixes rare failures such as an export asked for while a STEP import was loading.
Modelling
- Inch units, chosen for each part, assembly and drawing. Click MMGS / IPS in the status bar. Values can name their unit:
2in,30 mm,(w/2)*in. - Cosmetic threads: a bore or shaft marked as threaded without modelling the thread. It is shown in the model and drawn by convention on drawings, with hole callouts. Tapped holes show their threads the same way.
Assemblies and drawings
- Gear and rack-and-pinion mates.
- Interference Check for assemblies: overlaps shown in red, with their volumes.
- Balloons that number the part you click, and bill-of-materials tables on assembly drawings.
- Exploded views on drawing sheets.
Ease of use
- Command search: press Ctrl+K (or /) and type part of a command's name.
- Your own keyboard shortcuts: Help ▸ Customize Shortcuts.
- Getting Started Tour: a one-minute tour for new users (Help ▸ Getting Started Tour).
- Update check: a notice when a newer version is out (once a day; can be turned off in Help ▸ Check for Updates).

RazorCAD 0.12.0-beta
The third public beta of RazorCAD, a parametric 3D part modeler for Windows 10 and 11 with a classic feature-tree interface. This one brings drawings of assemblies.
Beta: expect bugs. If you make DXFs for manufacturing, please double-check the exported files for now.
Download
- RazorCAD-Setup-0.12.0-beta.exe: the installer (includes RazorCAD.exe)
- RazorCAD-User-Manual-0.12.0-beta.pdf: the user manual
Already have 0.11.0-beta? Run the new setup: it updates the installed copy, and your parts, assemblies and drawings open as before.
What's new since 0.11.0-beta
Drawings of assemblies
- A drawing view can show an assembly as well as a part. Model View and Standard Views list open assemblies, Browse takes a
.rasmfile, and File ▸ Make Drawing from Assembly makes a drawing with its three standard views. - Every component is drawn where it sits, through its sub-assemblies, in the configurations shown. Suppressed and hidden components are left out.
- Section, detail and projected views, hole callouts and cut lists work on assemblies too.
- Big assemblies are drawn fast. Plain views of large assemblies are worked out from the parts' display meshes: a 2,400-solid site layout gets its three standard views in about 25 seconds instead of many minutes per view. Each assembly view has Hidden lines: Automatic / Exact / Fast in its properties.
Other
- Some features and tools have new, plainer names. Parts saved with earlier versions pick up the new default names when they are opened; names you typed yourself are kept.
- The drawing tree's part row stays in its place when the panel is widened.
