v0.1.9

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 28 Sep 01:49

Fixed

  • A game saved with your browser as its program still wasn't fixed after 0.1.8, because Check
    for new games skips games you already have. LastSave now repairs it by itself when it starts: it
    removes the browser and, for a Steam game, finds where the game is really installed from the
    shortcut you launch it with. Nothing to do on your side.

v0.1.8

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 28 Sep 00:49

Added

  • "What's new" after an update. When a new version has something worth telling, LastSave shows
    it once, in plain words, with pictures. Click the version number in the sidebar or in Settings,
    About, to see it again or to look back at earlier versions.
  • Exclusive fullscreen is explained where you'll see it. In exclusive fullscreen Windows keeps
    every other window off the screen, the overlay included. When you Alt+Tab out, a short note on
    your desktop says so. The next time you launch that game, LastSave suggests picking Borderless or
    Windowed fullscreen, until it sees the game borderless or you ask it not to.

Changed

  • Clips and recording no longer stop you before your first game. Clip and Record are ready as
    soon as LastSave finds Xbox Game Bar, the NVIDIA App or AMD Adrenalin, and the first press in a
    game is the test. If nothing is saved, the overlay tells you and shows the one switch to turn on;
    Clip and Record each keep their own result, and the button stays usable.
  • Played is now Endless, for games you play rather than finish, like Valorant, League of Legends
    or Minecraft. Endless games no longer ask for a finish date or look faded. If you used Played for
    games you finished, you may want to move them to Completed.
  • Explore's "See more" and search show covers at the same size as your Library, instead of five
    giant covers across the window. Closing them brings you back to where you were on the page.
  • Crash reports say what happened: the error, where it happened, and how LastSave's last run
    ended, so we can fix what you ran into. The report's title starts from the error instead of empty.

Fixed

  • Shutting down or restarting Windows with LastSave in the tray made the next start say
    "LastSave closed unexpectedly", as if it had crashed. It now closes properly with Windows.
  • A game added from a browser shortcut — like an Xbox Cloud Gaming one — started a session every
    time the browser opened, even with no game running. LastSave never mistakes a browser for a game
    any more, and Check for new games repairs a game saved that way once it finds the real one.
  • When LastSave's window crashed and reloaded, nothing offered to report it. It now does.

v0.1.7

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 26 Sep 12:22

Fixed

  • Steam kept asking you to sign in again, usually about a day after connecting. LastSave now
    renews your Steam session properly, and a hiccup — no internet at startup, Steam being down — no
    longer logs you out. Epic got the same care.
  • Closing LastSave in the middle of an import lost the rest of it. The import now picks up where
    it stopped: the next time you open LastSave, a notification offers to resume or discard the games
    that were still waiting. Games already added are always complete, with their status and hours.
  • VALORANT, League of Legends and other games launched through their store's app weren't found
    from their desktop shortcut, and Riot games on another drive were missed entirely. Shortcuts that
    open a game through Riot, Battle.net or Ubisoft Connect now count as that game.
  • Games named after their store edition — "Windows Edition", "Standard Edition", ™ — are now
    recognised as the game they are.
  • A Steam account without a profile picture showed a broken image as your avatar.
  • Adding games to a shelf jumped the list back to the top on every click.
  • Identifying a game in Check for new games could leave it hidden from the next check.

Changed

  • Steam and Epic keep your hours in step by default. Auto-sync is now on for your Steam and Epic
    games, including the ones you already have, and checks each time you open LastSave and after you
    play. It only changes hours when the store reports something new, so your own logs and edits are
    never overwritten by the same old number.
  • "No status" comes first in the board, the status chips and filters, so a fresh import is the
    first thing you see when you switch to the board.
  • The board scrolls sideways with the mouse wheel, each column scrolls on its own, and arrows on
    the edges jump between columns.
  • Games you couldn't identify are easier to sort out. The screen says what to do and what was
    searched for, games you match move up into Ready, and you can discard the rest — or restore them —
    in one click without touching the ones you already fixed.
  • Adding games to a shelf saves as you pick, with no separate Save. When editing a shelf in
    Manage, Update and close is one click, and leaving with unsaved changes asks first.
  • A back button to all your shelves from inside a shelf.
  • Your Steam ID and Epic account ID are no longer shown anywhere in the app.

v0.1.6

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 24 Sep 20:53

Fixed

  • Hours from an import were missing on the game's page. A game imported without a status showed
    its hours in the Library but "—" on its page, and a game imported with DLC lost its hours
    entirely. Imported hours are now recorded properly, and games already affected are repaired when
    you update — except a game with DLC, whose hours come back with one Sync from its page.
  • The PC scan offered apps as games — Opera, the Battle.net launcher, Playnite, even a file from
    Steam's own folder — and named some games after the wrong folder: VALORANT came in as "Live" and
    THE FINALS as "Discovery". Steam libraries on another drive are now recognised as Steam.
  • Epic imports were full of things that aren't games. Soundtracks, art books, wallpapers, betas
    and DLC no longer land in "couldn't be identified"; DLC is added to its game when you have it.
    Store editions such as "Standard Edition" are now recognised as the game they are.
  • Connecting Epic flashed a page of sign-in data, and LastSave could drop behind other windows
    once the sign-in finished.
  • Text from a game's page showed through the session summary after a play session.
  • Wishlisted games imported from Steam or Epic showed no store.
  • Cancelling a new shelf jumped to another shelf, and saving one did not close the window.

Changed

  • Epic imports and checks are much faster. The long "Looking up N Epic games…" wait is gone for
    games you already have, and the rest are matched in a fraction of the time.
  • Check for new games runs once a day, the first time you open LastSave, and only tells you when
    it finds something new. Games it couldn't identify stop coming back every day.
  • Games you already have are updated in one place. When a scan finds something new for a game in
    your library — where it's installed, that you now own it, extra content — it appears under Updates
    with an Update / Ignore switch, set to Update. Update all and Ignore all are right there.
  • Everything you ignored is one click away from the import review and the check ("Ignored").
    Restoring something brings it straight back.
  • Selecting several games in the import review is easier: once one is selected, clicking
    another selects it instead of opening it.
  • Creating a shelf has its own window, separate from managing your shelves, and the icon picker
    tells you that searching finds almost anything.

v0.1.5

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 23 Sep 22:19

Fixed

  • Importing a large library froze after a dozen games. The import sat at "Fetching metadata"
    and never moved again. Game details now arrive reliably and much faster, and a request that
    stalls is retried instead of holding up the whole import.
  • Games could be left out of an import when the game catalog was busy. They are retried now
    rather than skipped.
  • Updating a game from the import review removed its DLC and the hours logged on them. An
    update now only ever adds to what the game already has.

Changed

  • The import review no longer asks about DLC. Looking up extra content for every game was slow
    and overwhelming for a big library. Add DLC to a game any time from its Edit dialog. DLC on your
    Steam wishlist still comes in with its game.
  • The import review is a list. Each game shows its cover, name, every store it was found in and
    its hours, so a library of hundreds is quick to read and scroll. The cover grid is one click away,
    and LastSave remembers which you prefer.
  • Sort the import review by most hours, fewest hours or name.
  • You can see an update downloading. The notice stays with a spinner until the download
    finishes, the notification tray shows the same, and Settings → About says what is happening and
    offers to restart once the update is ready.

v0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 23 Sep 17:26

Fixed

  • Home fell apart in a small window. Panels grew without limit — the activity list rendered
    every entry it had, and the page ran to nearly four screens of oversized cards. Each panel now
    keeps its size and scrolls its own contents, the way it already did in a large window.
  • A stray horizontal scrollbar on Home, and a dashboard that could drift sideways and leave the
    hero cut off down its left edge. Both came from the ambient glow in the background, which is
    meant to bleed off the edge of the screen.
  • The quote on Home was sliced through the middle in a short window, with its attribution left
    dangling underneath.
  • The PC scan offered LDPlayer and its Android games as PC games, and matched one of them to
    "Need for Drive: Open World Multiplayer Racing". It also offered "Python 3.14 Online
    Documentation".

Changed

  • The window can no longer be made narrower than the dashboard is designed for. The minimum
    width is now the point at which Home lays out properly; the minimum height is unchanged, so the
    app still fits on a 1080p laptop at 150% scale.

v0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 23 Sep 15:20

Fixed

  • Trailers would not play. The video player showed "Error 153" instead of the trailer in the
    installed app, while working fine in development. Twitch streams on event pages had the same
    cause and never appeared at all — they quietly fell back to a link.
  • The PC scan offered LastSave itself as a game, and matched it to something called "Last
    Savers". It also offered python, node and ffmpeg. None of them are games.
  • Home was cramped on smaller screens. On a 1080p laptop at Windows' 125% scale, the quote's
    attribution line was cut in half and the recent-game covers were too narrow for their badges.

Added

  • The installer has its own icon — the LastSave mark with a download badge, so the setup and
    the app it installs are not the same picture in your Downloads folder.

Changed

  • The privacy policy and terms have been rewritten and need accepting again. Nothing LastSave
    does with your data has changed: it still keeps your library on your machine and still sends
    nothing you did not send yourself. What changed is the writing — the documents now describe how
    the app works today, say plainly which features are planned, and explain what happens to the
    policy when they arrive.

v0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 23 Sep 01:38

Fixed

  • Updates could not install themselves. LastSave asked for the new version, received an error
    page instead of the package, and said nothing — so an update that was ready never arrived. It now
    fetches releases straight from GitHub.

Added

  • LastSave tells you what the update is doing. A new version, a download in progress, a
    download that failed and can be retried — each one now appears in the notification tray instead
    of happening silently. An update that is ready waits for you to restart; LastSave never restarts
    on its own.
  • Automatic downloads can be turned off, in Settings → About. LastSave still tells you when a
    new version exists, and waits for you to ask before downloading it.

v0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 23 Sep 00:44

Added

  • Release notes in Settings → About — an icon beside the version number opens what changed in
    the build you are running, or in the update waiting to install.

Fixed

  • Opening the release notes did nothing. LastSave only follows links to sites it knows about, and
    GitHub had never been added to that list — which also left the "What's new" button on the update
    screen doing nothing.
  • Screenshots and journal media could quietly stop appearing if LastSave's data folder ever moved.
    They are now stored relative to it, so they move with it.

v0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@mvelezg99 mvelezg99 released this 22 Sep 23:13

Added

  • Library — every game you own or want to play, in one place, with cover art, filters by source,
    status, genre, release year and playtime, several grouping and sorting options, shelves for your
    own collections, and bulk actions.
  • Catalog — search and browse game metadata from IGDB, with discovery rails for the latest and
    upcoming releases, what is trending, and the best of all time, plus a Game of the Year hall of
    fame and exploration by company, saga, genre, platform and event.
  • Logs — status updates, play sessions, journal entries with screenshots and video, and
    achievements, all on one timeline per game and on an activity radar.
  • Importing — bring games in from Steam, Epic, your installed PC games, or an emulator library,
    through a single wizard, and check for new ones later without importing everything again.
  • Playing Mode — LastSave notices when a game you track starts, times the session, and offers an
    in-game overlay for logging without leaving the game.
  • Home — a dashboard of where you left off, what you played this week, and what you were playing
    a year ago.
  • Share — turn any log into an image card, or a session clip into a short video.
  • Reporting — send a bug report, a crash report, or an idea from inside the app, with the log
    attached if you want it to be.

Notes

  • Windows 10 and 11 only, and this is a beta. Your library lives on your machine; nothing is
    uploaded except a report you choose to send.
  • The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will warn the first time you run it.
    Choose More info and then Run anyway.
