NetCtrl v2.1.4 - Windows Kernel Routing Suppression & Complete Block

Choose a tag to compare

@Limitless728 Limitless728 released this 14 Oct 11:50

What's Changed in v2.1.4

  • Suppressed Windows Kernel IPv4 Forwarding:
    • Automatically disables Windows TCP/IP interface forwarding (netsh interface ipv4 set interface <name> forwarding=disabled and PowerShell Set-NetIPInterface -Forwarding Disabled) and sets IPEnableRouter = 0 on application launch.
    • Previously, if Windows IP routing was enabled in the OS registry (e.g. from legacy SelfishNet tools), the Windows kernel routed packets at the IP stack level independently of user-space packet dropping, causing blocked devices to still reach the internet. With kernel forwarding suppressed, NetCtrl maintains 100% exclusive Layer-2 drop and rate-limiting authority.

NetCtrl v2.1.3 - Fix Dashboard WebView CORS & Engine Connection

@Limitless728 Limitless728 released this 14 Oct 11:17

What's Changed in v2.1.3

  • Resolved Dashboard "Engine Reconnecting" Lock:
    • Fixed Rust engine (server.rs) and Python server (server.py) CORS layers. Previously, allow_origin was strictly locked to "null", which blocked PyWebView requests originating from http://127.0.0.1:<port>.
    • Added dynamic loopback origin reflection (http://127.0.0.1:*, http://localhost:*, null, https://pywebview.api, https://appassets.html), allowing Edge WebView2 to communicate seamlessly with the local REST API while strictly rejecting external domains.
  • Resilient API Token Loading:
    • web/app.js now handles immediate availability, event listeners, interval polling, and graceful timeout so token initialization can never deadlock.

@Limitless728 Limitless728 released this 14 Oct 11:04

What's Changed in v2.1.2

  • Fixed Installer Runtime Crash: Resolved NameError: name 'time' is not defined in installer_gui.py during process cleanup.
  • Automated Self-Deleting Uninstaller:
    • uninstall.bat automatically self-elevates if needed.
    • Gracefully terminates any running NetCtrl processes.
    • Cleans up Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts across all user and public profiles.
    • Automatically deletes the entire installation directory (C:\Program Files\NetCtrl) in the background without requiring manual folder deletion.
  • Windows Apps & Features Integration: NetCtrl Pro now properly registers in Windows "Installed Apps" / Control Panel with full uninstall support.

NetCtrl v2.1.1 - Engine Lifecycle & Socket Collision Fix

@Limitless728 Limitless728 released this 13 Oct 20:52

What's Changed

  • Resolve Port 8765 Socket Collision: Added automatic detection and termination of stale background engine processes on startup, ensuring the local REST API always binds cleanly.
  • Windows Job Object Lifecycle Binding: Engine process is now tied directly to the OS Job Object (JOB_OBJECT_LIMIT_KILL_ON_JOB_CLOSE), guaranteeing immediate termination when the GUI exits.
  • Engine Watchdog: Engine monitors parent PID heartbeat (--parent-pid) and exits cleanly if the parent process terminates.
  • TcpListener Retry Loop: Server retries binding up to 10 times with backoff if the port is temporarily held by a closing socket.
  • Installer Process Lock Resolution: Setup wizard now gracefully terminates any running NetCtrl processes before file extraction, preventing Permission Denied file locks in Program Files.
