PDF Tools

XignAll includes 9 built-in PDF processing tools accessible from the Tools tab. All tools work on single files or entire folders (batch mode). No external software required.

Merge

Combine multiple PDF files into a single document.

  • Select two or more PDFs in any order
  • Drag to reorder before merging
  • Output: single merged PDF

Use case: Combine monthly reports, annexes, or exhibits into one file before signing.

Split

Split a PDF into multiple files by page range.

  • Split into individual pages (one PDF per page)
  • Split by custom ranges: 1-3, 4-7, 8 → produces three files
  • Output files are named automatically with page range suffixes

Use case: Split a bulk scanned document into individual files for separate signing.

Rotate

Rotate pages in a PDF.

  • Rotation angles: 90°, 180°, 270°
  • Apply to: all pages, even pages only, odd pages only, or specific page numbers
  • Batch mode: rotate matching pages across an entire folder of PDFs

Use case: Fix scanned documents where some pages were fed sideways.

Watermark

Add a text or image watermark to PDF pages.

  • Text watermark: configurable font, size, color, opacity, angle, position
  • Image watermark: PNG or JPG, configurable opacity and position
  • Apply to: all pages or specific page ranges
  • Batch mode: apply the same watermark to an entire folder

Use case: Mark draft documents with "CONFIDENTIAL" or "DRAFT" before distribution.

Anonymize

Automatically redact sensitive data from PDF text using regex patterns.

Custom patterns

Add your own regex patterns for organization-specific data formats.

Output

Redacted text is replaced with █████. The PDF structure and layout are preserved — only the text layer is modified.

Batch mode: Anonymize an entire folder of PDFs in one operation.

Use case: Prepare documents for external review or public disclosure by removing personally identifiable information.

Extract Text

Extract all text content from a PDF to a .txt file.

  • One .txt file per PDF
  • Preserves page breaks with page number markers
  • Batch mode: extract text from all PDFs in a folder

Use case: Index document content, feed into search systems, or prepare text for analysis.

Extract Images

Extract all embedded images from a PDF.

  • Images saved as individual files (JPG or PNG depending on original format)
  • Named with page number and image index
  • Batch mode: extract images from all PDFs in a folder

Use case: Recover photos or diagrams embedded in scanned documents.

Edit Metadata

View and edit PDF metadata fields.

Batch mode: Apply the same metadata changes to an entire folder of PDFs.

Use case: Standardize metadata across a document batch before archiving or publishing.

Encrypt / Decrypt

Encrypt

Password-protect a PDF with AES-128 encryption.

  • Set an owner password (full access) and/or user password (open/read access)
  • Configure permissions: printing, copying, annotations
  • Batch mode: encrypt an entire folder with the same password

Decrypt

Remove password protection from a PDF (requires the owner password).

  • Batch mode: decrypt an entire folder

Use case: Protect confidential PDFs before sending by email, or remove protection from documents received for processing.

Signature & Stamp Extractor

Located in the Tools tab alongside the PDF tools.

Purpose: Create a transparent PNG from a photo of a handwritten signature or ink stamp — ready to use as a logo image in a digital signature profile.

Steps:

  1. Photograph your handwritten signature or rubber stamp on white paper
  2. Open the image in XignAll (JPG, PNG, BMP, or TIFF)
  3. XignAll removes the white background automatically
  4. Save the output as a transparent PNG
  5. Set this PNG as the logo in any signer profile

The transparent PNG appears as an overlay inside the visible signature rectangle in the signed PDF — combining the digital certificate with the visual appearance of a handwritten signature or official stamp.
