ValCraft 0.6.2 (experimental multiplayer)

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 05 Oct 05:03

Experimental multiplayer: play together in one Minecraft world. It hasn't been fully tested with real friends yet, so please try it and report what you find. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.2.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.6.2.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept. Everyone playing together needs 0.6.2.

What's new in 0.6.2

  • One Minecraft world for everyone (experimental): everyone with ValCraft in the same Valheim world plays in one Minecraft world, so you see each other's Minecraft avatars, blocks, mobs and items.
  • It joins on its own: invite friends into your Valheim world as usual. The first ValCraft player in opens their Minecraft world to the others through e4mc (now included), and everyone after joins it within a few seconds. Nobody types an address.
  • Everyone keeps their own Valheim: your loot goes to your own Minecraft inventory, and your building costs, meads, skills and hits on Valheim's creatures go to your own Viking. The shared world knows the ground and creatures around every player, not just the host.
  • Avatars, not Vikings: another ValCraft player's Viking is hidden, because their Minecraft avatar stands where they are. Players without ValCraft still see Vikings as usual.
  • New setting: [Multiplayer] SharedWorld, on by default. Turn it off to stay in your own Minecraft world. /join <address> and /leave still pick a world by hand.

If it doesn't join

If a friend's Minecraft stays in its own world, they can type /join <link> in Minecraft chat. The link is in the host's Minecraft chat as "Local game hosted on domain [...]". Please send the Valheim log (BepInEx/LogOutput.log) and the Minecraft log, both from the host and from the friend. Look for lines with "multiplayer".

Known issues

  • Multiplayer is experimental: the automatic hosting and joining between two real Valheims, Viking hiding, and guests fighting Valheim creatures haven't been tried with real players yet.
  • The shared Minecraft world is the host's. When the host leaves, everyone goes back to their own world and the next ValCraft player hosts. Builds made in it are saved in the host's world.
  • Everyone should use the same terrain mode (F8). The shared world is in the host's mode.
  • The first time a world is opened to friends, Windows may ask whether Java may use the network. e4mc works either way.
  • Bows, arrows, shields, staffs, bombs, armor and capes don't have ValCraft versions yet; they stay in the Valheim inventory.
  • Minecraft mobs sometimes spin in place for a moment when their path breaks.
  • Building is experimental: not everything has been tried yet.
  • Valheim creatures don't fight back at Minecraft mobs yet.
  • Minecraft's portals (Nether and End) don't work.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.2.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.6.2.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
  • valcraft-fabric-0.6.2.jar: only the Minecraft half, for your own launcher. For multiplayer, also add e4mc.

ValCraft 0.6.1

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 04 Oct 18:06

A quick update: ValCraft's settings in Valheim's pause menu. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.1.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.6.1.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.6.1

  • ValCraft settings in the pause menu: a new ValCraft settings button under Valheim's own Settings (Esc) opens a panel with every ValCraft setting, grouped by section: on/off switches, - and + for numbers like FOV, choices like mob pathfinding, and your ValCraft keys (click, then press a key). Changes save and apply straight away.
  • Minecraft options from there too: the panel's Minecraft options button opens Minecraft's own options (video, controls, sound...), the same as the O key.
  • Everything from 0.6.0: 165 Valheim items as Minecraft items, the optional ValCraft 3D Weapons pack, and the FOV settings.

Known issues

  • Bows, arrows, shields, staffs, bombs, armor and capes don't have ValCraft versions yet; they stay in the Valheim inventory.
  • In first person, the biggest 3D weapons (the sledges) fill much of the view.
  • Minecraft mobs sometimes spin in place for a moment when their path breaks.
  • You can sometimes slip through the floor of a steep crater in Valheim terrain; Valheim's rescue puts you back on top.
  • Building is experimental: not everything has been tried yet.
  • Other players see your Viking standing in the water while you're in a boat, and Valheim's creatures don't bump into boats.
  • Valheim creatures don't fight back at Minecraft mobs yet.
  • Minecraft items lying on the ground don't follow you across F8 (block terrain on/off).
  • Minecraft's portals (Nether and End) don't work.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.1.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.6.1.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
  • valcraft-fabric-0.6.1.jar: only the Minecraft half, for your own launcher.

ValCraft 0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 04 Oct 07:18

The big Valheim items update: 165 Valheim items as Minecraft items, and an optional pack with every weapon and tool in 3D. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.0.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.6.0.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.6.0

  • Valheim items in Minecraft: 165 Valheim items that had no Minecraft counterpart are now ValCraft Minecraft items, each redrawn from its Valheim icon and model. Pick one up in Valheim and it lands in your Minecraft inventory.
    • Ores and metals: Flametal Ore, Glowing Metal Ore, Bloodgold, Petrified Tissue, Black Metal Scrap, Scrap Bronze, Sulfur, Proustite Powder.
    • Seeds: all 12, from acorns and pine cones to poteitr and vineberry seeds.
    • Meads: all 21 drink like potions, with their Minecraft effects (healing, speed, jump boost and slow falling, water breathing, fire resistance, curing poison...), and your Viking gets the real Valheim mead's effect too (frost resistance, eitr, anti-sting...). The 20 mead bases are there for Valheim's fermenter.
    • Weapons and tools: all 104 swords, knives, axes, battleaxes, clubs, maces, sledges, spears, atgeirs, fist weapons, pickaxes, the scythe, snow shovel and cultivator. They work like Minecraft's of their kind (axes chop, pickaxes mine at their tier), with their own damage, speed and durability, and their hits on Valheim's creatures do the Valheim weapon's own damage: Frostfire's frost, Dyrnwyn's fire, poison, spirit and all.
  • ValCraft 3D Weapons (optional): a resource pack built into the mod (Options, Resource Packs) that shows every Valheim weapon and tool as a blocky 3D model in your hand and on the ground. Each one is built from the Valheim weapon's real shape and held at its real size next to your Viking, and gems and runes glow at night. The inventory keeps the flat icons. Leave it off for the classic flat items.
  • FOV settings: [Camera] FOV is the same setting as Minecraft's FOV option, so changing either changes both. [Camera] ViewmodelFOV sets the field of view your hands and held item are drawn at; with LockViewmodelFOV on (the default) it follows your FOV, off you can set it on its own.
  • Everything from 0.5.9: natural mob spawning, the creeper griefing option, and Minecraft's /time commands.

Known issues

  • Bows, arrows, shields, staffs, bombs, armor and capes don't have ValCraft versions yet; they stay in the Valheim inventory. They're next.
  • Not every Valheim building material has a Minecraft counterpart yet. Pieces that need one take it from the Valheim inventory. You can add your own in BepInEx/config/ValCraft.loot.txt.
They may or may not be added later.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.6.0.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.6.0.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
  • valcraft-fabric-0.6.0.jar: only the Minecraft half, for your own launcher.

ValCraft 0.5.9

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 03 Oct 17:29

Natural mob spawning, a creeper option, and Minecraft's time commands. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.9.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.9.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.9

  • Minecraft mobs spawn naturally (optional, [Mobs] NaturalSpawning, off by default): monsters at night and animals any time, picked by the Valheim biome you're in. Zombies, skeletons, spiders and creepers in the Meadows and Black Forest, husks on the Plains, strays in the Mountains, slimes and witches in the Swamp, wither skeletons and magma cubes in the Ashlands. Cows, sheep, pigs and chickens in the Meadows, wolves and foxes in the Black Forest, goats in the Mountains, and more. They spawn on dry land a little way off, never inside rocks or buildings, with a cap around each player, and monsters despawn far away like in Minecraft.
  • Creeper griefing is an option now ([Explosions] CreeperGriefing, off by default): on, creepers blow craters and break trees, rocks, buildings and blocks in block terrain; off, they only hurt. It's Minecraft's mobGriefing rule, so it covers endermen picking up blocks too. TNT always breaks things.
  • Minecraft's /time commands work: /time set (day, noon, night, midnight or a number) and /time add move Valheim's clock forward to match, skipping whole days too. Only the host can change the time, like Valheim's own command.
  • Everything from 0.5.8: block terrain that follows Valheim's ground, bedrock at Valheim's dig limit, and stacking explosion drops.

Known issues

  • Minecraft mobs sometimes spin in place for a moment when their path breaks.
  • You can sometimes slip through the floor of a steep crater in Valheim terrain; Valheim's rescue puts you back on top.
  • Building is experimental: not everything has been tried yet.
  • Not every Valheim material has a Minecraft counterpart yet (some trophies and late-game items). Pieces that need one take it from the Valheim inventory, so they may not be buildable for now. More will be added; you can add your own in BepInEx/config/ValCraft.loot.txt.
  • The Sealbreaker and Fader's bells are crafted from their fragments at Valheim's own crafting stations, which hasn't been tried with ValCraft yet.
They may or may not be added later.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.9.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.5.9.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
  • valcraft-fabric-0.5.9.jar: only the Minecraft half, for your own launcher.

ValCraft 0.5.8 - terrain that keeps up, bedrock, tidy explosions

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 03 Oct 05:46

Block terrain that keeps up with Valheim, real bedrock, and tidier explosions. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.8.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.8.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.8

  • Block terrain follows Valheim's ground: blow a TNT crater, dig, or use the hoe on Valheim's terrain, then switch to block terrain (F8), and the blocks follow the new ground. Only untouched terrain is reshaped: your builds stay, and the tunnels you dug aren't filled back in. Works on worlds from earlier versions too.
  • Bedrock where Valheim stops your digging: block terrain now goes down to a bedrock floor exactly where Valheim's own digging stops (8 m under its ground). You can dig all the way down to it without being teleported back up; Valheim's fell-through-the-world rescue only kicks in if you fall through the bedrock. In Valheim terrain the rescue is unchanged.
  • Explosions don't lag: the stone and wood a blast knocks loose gathers into stacks every couple of seconds (one cheap pass for everything near you), so a big chain of TNT doesn't leave hundreds of loose drops slowing the game down. Picking a stack up gives you all of it.
  • Everything from 0.5.7: TNT craters in Valheim's ground and the [Explosions] multipliers.

Known issues

  • You can sometimes slip through the floor of a steep crater in Valheim terrain; Valheim's rescue puts you back on top.
  • Building is experimental: not everything has been tried yet.
  • Not every Valheim material has a Minecraft counterpart yet (some trophies and late-game items). Pieces that need one take it from the Valheim inventory, so they may not be buildable for now. More will be added; you can add your own in BepInEx/config/ValCraft.loot.txt.

  • Other players see your Viking standing in the water while you're in a boat, and Valheim's creatures don't bump into boats.
  • Minecraft mobs sometimes spin in place for a moment when their path breaks.
  • Valheim creatures don't fight back at Minecraft mobs yet.
  • Minecraft items lying on the ground don't follow you across F8 (block terrain on/off).
  • Minecraft's portals (Nether and End) don't work. They may or may not be added later.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.8.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.5.8.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
  • valcraft-fabric-0.5.8.jar: only the Minecraft half, for your own launcher.

ValCraft 0.5.7 - TNT craters

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 02 Oct 18:18

TNT that actually blows holes in Valheim. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.7.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.7.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.7

  • Craters: TNT and creepers now blow craters in Valheim's ground. One TNT leaves a bowl about 7 m across and 2 m deep; bigger blasts (charged creepers) and stacked TNT dig bigger and deeper. Wards, no-build areas (like the start), and block terrain mode (F8, where Minecraft's TNT takes the blocks itself) are left alone.

  • More damage: explosions hit Valheim's creatures, trees, rocks and buildings twice as hard as before.

  • New settings, in [Explosions] of BepInEx/config/loalco.valcraft.cfg (or your mod manager's config editor, or in game with the optional ConfigurationManager). Both are multipliers:

    Setting Default Does
Damage 2 Multiplier for the damage explosions do to Valheim's creatures, trees, rocks and buildings (1 = about 100 at a TNT blast's centre, 2 = twice that)
Craters 1 Multiplier for crater size (2 = twice as big, 0 = no craters)
  • Everything from 0.5.6: boats on Valheim's water and every boss item as a Minecraft item.

Known issues

  • Building is experimental: not everything has been tried yet.
  • Not every Valheim material has a Minecraft counterpart yet (some trophies and late-game items). Pieces that need one take it from the Valheim inventory, so they may not be buildable for now. More will be added; you can add your own in BepInEx/config/ValCraft.loot.txt.
  • The Sealbreaker and Fader's bells are crafted from their fragments at Valheim's own crafting stations, which hasn't been tried with ValCraft yet.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.7.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.5.7.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).

ValCraft 0.5.6 - boats and boss items

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 02 Oct 18:00

Boats, and every boss item as a Minecraft item. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.6.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.6.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.6

  • Boats on Valheim's water: Minecraft boats and rafts (chest boats too) float on Valheim's sea, lakes and rivers, rise and fall with its waves and tilt with them, and row at water speed. Place one on the water, or on the shore and push it in. A boat you leave behind stays afloat.

  • Boss items are Minecraft items: every boss's summoning item and drops are now ValCraft items, with textures redrawn from Valheim's own icons:

    • Eikthyr: Deer Trophy; Hard Antler, Eikthyr Trophy
    • The Elder: Ancient Seed; Swamp Key, The Elder Trophy
    • Bonemass: Withered Bone; Wishbone, Bonemass Trophy
    • Moder: Dragon Egg; Dragon Tear, Moder Trophy
    • Yagluth: Fuling Totem; Torn Spirit, Yagluth Trophy
    • The Queen: Sealbreaker (and its fragments); Majestic Carapace, The Queen Trophy
    • Fader: Bell (and its fragments); Kindled Ribs, Fader Trophy

Picking them up in Valheim gives you these, and G offers them at the altars and doors. The stand-ins from 0.5.5 (pitcher pod, skeleton skull, sniffer egg, trial keys, bell) switch over in your loot table by themselves.

  • Fixed: the first-person hands sometimes didn't show after joining until you switched terrain modes (F8).

  • For modders: [Debug] ExportIcons saves Valheim's item icons and names as PNGs, the base for making more Minecraft versions of Valheim items.

  • Everything from 0.5.5: summoning bosses from Minecraft, and boss hits no longer one-shot you.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.6.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).

ValCraft 0.5.5 - Valheim bosses

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 02 Oct 16:45

Summon Valheim's bosses from Minecraft. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.5.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.5.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.5

  • Boss altars work: press the use key (G) at an altar, a boss item stand or a locked door and it offers the right item for you, taken from your Minecraft inventory (or the hidden Valheim inventory). A message says what was offered and from where.

  • Boss items as Minecraft items: picking them up in Valheim gives you these, and they're what the altars take:

    Boss Valheim item In Minecraft
Eikthyr Deer Trophy Deer Trophy (new ValCraft item)
The Elder Ancient Seed Pitcher Pod
    Bonemass Withered Bone Skeleton Skull
    Moder Dragon Egg Sniffer Egg
Yagluth Fuling Totem Fuling Totem (new ValCraft item)
Swamp crypts Crypt Key Trial Key
The Queen Sealbreaker Ominous Trial Key
    Fader Bell Bell

Keys are only lent to the door; you keep them. The new items stack to 64 and are in creative's Ingredients tab.

  • Bosses no longer one-shot you: their hits carried huge "smash the scenery" damage (for trees and rocks), which counted against the player. Now only real damage does, scaled like any other creature's.

  • Everything from 0.5.4: configurable ValCraft keys and ConfigurationManager support.

  • The Queen's Sealbreaker and Fader's bells are crafted from fragments at Valheim's own crafting stations, which hasn't been tried with ValCraft yet.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.5.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).

ValCraft 0.5.4 - configurable keys

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 02 Oct 16:02

Change ValCraft's keys. Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.4.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.4.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.4

  • Configurable keys: ValCraft's own keys are now settings in [Controls] of BepInEx/config/loalco.valcraft.cfg (or your mod manager's config editor):

    Setting Default Does
ValheimControls F7 Hand the controls back to Valheim
    BlockTerrain F8 Block terrain on/off
Use G Valheim's "use": doors, chests, portals, beds, traders
    MinecraftOptions O Minecraft's options menu
Map M Valheim's map (match it to Valheim's own map key if you change that)
BuildRotate Alt Held with the mouse wheel to rotate a build piece

Changes apply right away, no restart needed. Valheim keeps these keys, so pick ones Minecraft doesn't use. Minecraft's own keys (movement, inventory, hotbar, ...) are still changed in Minecraft's options: press O, then Controls.

  • ConfigurationManager (optional): not needed, but handy for changing ValCraft's settings mid-game (F1, with a key picker for the keys) instead of through your mod manager: shudnal's ConfigurationManager. ValCraft works with it: its window keeps the keyboard and mouse away from Minecraft while it's open, and F1 no longer also hides Minecraft's HUD.

  • Everything from 0.5.3: pausing, digging, Valheim's hoe, and Valheim building with the Build Hammer (experimental).

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.4.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).

ValCraft 0.5.3 - pausing, digging, Valheim hoe and building (experimental)

Choose a tag to compare

@LoAlCo LoAlCo released this 02 Oct 15:48

Pause sync, digging, Valheim's hoe, and Valheim building (experimental). Install or update the same way: import LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.3.zip into your Gale profile, or run the optional ValCraft-Installer-0.5.3.exe (INSTALL.md). Your Minecraft worlds and sign-in are kept.

What's new in 0.5.3

  • Pausing: pausing Valheim when you play alone now pauses Minecraft too (mobs, fire, furnaces, falling). Opening your world to friends keeps it running, like vanilla.
  • Digging Valheim's ground: a shovel digs soil (dirt, grass, sand, snow), a pickaxe digs rock (steep rocky slopes, paved ground). The wrong tool tells you which one you need, and every swing that lands digs.
  • Valheim's hoe: a Minecraft hoe works like Valheim's. Right-click opens Valheim's hoe menu (level ground, raise ground, pathen, paved road), left-click uses it. Stone comes out of your Minecraft cobblestone.
  • Building (experimental): the new Build Hammer builds with Valheim's own pieces, menu and workbench rules.
    • Craft it from planks and sticks: three planks on top, a plank on each side of a stick, and a stick below.
    • Right-click opens the menu, left-click places, middle-click removes, Alt + mouse wheel rotates (the wheel alone still scrolls the hotbar), Shift places without snapping.
    • Costs are Minecraft items from your inventory, shown in the menu with Minecraft's icons and names: Wood = oak logs, Stone = cobblestone, Surtling Core = fire charge, Molten Core = blaze rod, Greydwarf Eye = spider eye, and more. Removing a piece gives its materials back.
    • Every piece is unlocked for now. Creative builds for free.

Files

  • LoAlCo-ValCraft-0.5.3.zip: the mod (this is the one you want).
  • ValCraft-Installer-0.5.3.exe: the optional step-by-step installer (has the mod inside).
