WolfSDK 0.3.0 - Loader and Studio
WolfSDK 0.3.0
A new loader window, an update notifier and the complete cvar lists. In the
Studio: animations in the model viewer, faster models, sound and video
replacement for The New Colossus, and a first look at Wolfenstein:
Youngblood. For Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New
Colossus. Windows, Steam versions of both games. MIT license.
Downloads
- WolfSDK-Loader-0.3.0.zip for players: tick mods, apply them, start the
game, revert to the original. Cheats & QoL, presets, custom map install. - WolfSDK-Studio-0.3.0.zip for modders: the same loader plus the Studio
(browse, view, export and replace assets, edit scripts and missions). The
Studio needs The New Colossus.
Python is bundled; you do not need to install anything.
Install or update
- Download the ZIP that fits you (see above).
- Extract it into a normal folder, e.g.
Documents\WolfSDK(not inside the
ZIP view, not underC:\Program Files). - Double-click
WolfSDK.cmd. The loader finds the games through Steam.
Coming from 0.2.0: the safest way is to click Revert in 0.2.0 first, then
extract 0.3.0 into a new folder and apply your mods there again. To keep your
ticks and cvar values, copy config.json from the old folder into the new
one; copy your own mod folders from mods\ too.
What's new
Loader
- New window. A clean, modern interface in its own app window (Microsoft
Edge in app mode, which comes with Windows; otherwise Chrome or your
default browser). Sections as tabs at the top, a play bar at the bottom
with the install state, Revert, Apply mods and Start game. Ticks and
values are saved as you change them. It is a local page served by the
loader itself; nothing of it goes online. The old window is still there:
python\python.exe -m wolfsdk gui --classic. - Update notifier. When a new WolfSDK version is out on GitHub, the
loader shows it at the top right, with the release notes and a download
link. It asks GitHub once per start (at most every 6 hours) for the list
of releases and sends nothing else. Info → Check for updates on start
turns it off. - Complete cvar lists. The New Order now lists all 3,186 settable cvars
of its engine (before: only the 31 measured tweaks, which still come
first); The New Colossus all 3,116. The whole list scrolls and searches
at once. - Start knows what the game holds. While your ticks are not in the game
files yet, Apply mods is highlighted, and Start game asks whether to
apply them first. - Mods: a click on a mod shows its details beside the list; only the
switch turns it on or off.
Studio
- Animations in the model viewer: pick one of a model's clips and play
it. - Faster models: textures load as they are needed, material maps are
built in the background. - Replacing sounds and videos (The New Colossus), held back in 0.2.0:
sounds from a 16-bit PCM WAV, videos from a Bink 2 file. Revert now
restores the original sound packs and video files. - Wolfenstein: Youngblood (preview, read only, if installed): texts,
scripts, videos, textures and models with animations. No maps, no export
and no replacing yet.
Fixed
- Revert restores replaced sound packs and video files too (in 0.2.0 it
only restored the texture database relinks, which is why replacing sounds
and videos was held back). - Saving cvar values no longer drops values that were saved outside the
loader's catalogue (for example by an older version);Spielen.cmdkeeps
passing them to the game.
Known limits
- The new window needs Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome to open as a window
of its own; without them it opens as a tab in your default browser. - Youngblood is a preview in the Studio only. The loader does not write
its files. - Not in the public package: the same four mods as in 0.2.0, which carry
whole modified retail files (gore textures, the supersoldiers map, the
golden pistol with textures, the menu branding). Also left out: test
probes and a personal skin. - Planned: map editor, map import from Blender (glTF), The New Order
models, Youngblood maps, adding new assets. - Steam versions only; Microsoft Store/Game Pass does not work, GOG and Epic
are untested. - Custom maps need the DLC The Freedom Chronicles, episode 2 (the map takes
the place of c2v1). - Close the game before applying or reverting mods; after a game update,
revert first. Back up%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\MachineGamesonce. - Tested on one PC so far.
