Sheet Tailor: Character Sheet Editor 0.7.0

Daggerheart support

Sheet Tailor now has dedicated support for Daggerheart (the Foundryborne system), for characters, adversaries and companions. It works with Daggerheart 2.x on Foundry 14 (verified with 2.10.11) and with 1.9, the last version for Foundry 13 (verified with 1.9.14).

The Freeform Sheet comes complete, with the tabs of the Daggerheart sheet as pages:

  • Character: class, subclass, ancestry and community, level, the six traits with their rolls, Evasion, armor score and Armor Slots, damage thresholds, Hit Points, Stress, Hope, Proficiency, experiences, the weapons in hand and the unarmed attack, short and long rest, the death move and the conditions.
  • Features: grouped like the Daggerheart sheet, by ancestry, community, class and subclass (and a multiclass), then companion features and the rest.
  • Loadout: the domain cards in the loadout and in the vault, and how many loadout slots are in use.
  • Inventory: gold, weapons, armor, consumables and loot.
  • Biography: pronouns, age and faith, background and connections.

Adversaries get one page with tier, type, difficulty, thresholds, Hit Points, Stress, their attack, motives and tactics, experiences, features, description and notes; companions get one page with their partner, Evasion, Stress, attack and experiences. The Daggerheart sheet itself is the last tab, and Customize sheet works on it.

Everything goes through the system, as on the Daggerheart sheet:

  • trait rolls are the Daggerheart duality roll, with Hope and Fear, advantage and experiences in its roll dialog; with the system's Hope and Fear automation on, a roll with Hope gives a Hope and a roll with Fear gives the GM a Fear;
  • weapons, domain cards, features and consumables are used the Daggerheart way, and so is the attack of an adversary or a companion;
  • rests open the downtime moves, the death move its dialog, and conditions are the system's own;
  • Hit Points, Stress, Hope and Armor Slots are box tracks; Armor Slots are marked on the armor worn, through the system.

Page and field names come from Daggerheart's own translation.

Checked

  • Daggerheart 2.10.11 on Foundry 14.369 and 1.9.14 on Foundry 13.351: the new Daggerheart smoke test passes all 16 steps on both, with no console errors from the module.
  • The FateX smoke test still passes; 99 unit tests.

Sheet Tailor 0.6.0

Sheet Tailor 0.6.0

A round of work on the layout editor and on Customize sheet, from the reports of a GM building a full sheet on their own artwork.

The package is now titled Sheet Tailor: Character Sheet Editor, so searching for "sheet editor" or "character sheet" finds it. Only the title changes: the id freeform-sheets, layouts, customizations and the manifest URL stay the same.

Layout editor

  • Guides. While you drag or resize, elements snap to the edges and centers of the other elements and of the page, and to even spacing between neighbours: halfway between two of them, or one more step of the gap two of them already have. Pink lines show the alignment, blue lines the equal gaps. Alt ignores the grid and the guides.
  • Rotation handle. The round handle above the selected element turns it; with Shift, by 15° steps, and it holds a little at right angles. [ and ] turn the selection by 15° (1° with Shift), and Rotation has a slider next to its number.
  • Turned elements resize along their own sides, and the side or corner opposite the handle stays in place. Before, resizing a turned image could blow its box up out of all proportion.
  • Selection rectangle. Drag on an empty spot of the page to select every element it touches (with Shift or Ctrl, added to the selection).
  • Layers by drag and drop. Drag a row of Layers up or down to change what is in front.
  • Bring forward and Send backward pass the next element the selected one overlaps; before, they swapped it with whatever came next in the list, often an element elsewhere on the page, so nothing seemed to happen.
  • A selected element keeps its place in the stacking order. It used to jump to the front while selected, which hid what had just been sent back and let a big background image catch every click.
  • Locked elements let clicks through to what is under them; they are selected from Layers.
  • Past the edge of the page: elements that reach past it show whole in the editor, with handles that can be grabbed, and a dashed line marks where the page ends. The page stays still on screen when an element is dropped past its edge.
  • Move the view with the right or middle mouse button when zoomed in.
  • Rename a page by double-clicking its tab, or with the pencil of the page being edited in Pages, which now takes you to its name.
  • Outlines and highlight on hover of the elements can each be turned off in the top bar; the choice is remembered.
  • Number fields: ↑/↓ change the value; with Ctrl or Shift, ten steps at a time. The font size now steps by 1.
  • A bigger font grows the box of a text, field or roll button instead of cutting the text, away from the side the text is aligned to, so the text stays where it was.
  • A new image is a fixed image shown whole (Contain): the file browser opens right away and the box takes the proportions of the file.
  • Fewer messages: one action no longer shows the same notification several times.

Pages and style

  • Place the background by dragging. Adjust on the page shows the whole picture, faded where the page cuts it, with handles: drag it to choose the part that shows (the clean side of a texture), resize it to put the borders of a frame on the corners of the page. Its edges and center snap to the page's. The fit becomes Free (adjusted on the page), and the place is kept when another fit is chosen.
  • A new background keeps the size of a page that already has elements, covering it; an empty page still takes the image's size. Before, a new image resized the page and broke the layout.
  • Background opacity in Style fades only the background color, not the text.
  • × next to each color field empties it (transparent, or the default color).
  • Use this color for every text on the page, in Background and size: takes away each element's own text color so all of them follow the page's.
  • Centered and right-aligned roll buttons keep their modifier next to the name.

Window

  • The Freeform Sheet shows its window buttons in the title bar (configure sheet, token, standard sheet, export layout...), like the system sheets, instead of behind the ⋮ menu. Buttons other modules add to sheets of the new kind (ApplicationV2) show there too.

Customize sheet

  • Move the artwork as the sheet scrolls (parallax): an option of the artwork. Off, as before, the artwork stays still while a long sheet scrolls.
  • A customized sheet can be resized from its corner again, also while it is being customized.
  • Importing a Freeform Sheet layout in Customize sheet offers to switch the character to the Freeform Sheet with that layout, instead of saying the file is not a layout. A customization imported in the layout editor says where it goes.
  • Saving shows one message; it used to repeat once for each change made in the session.

Checked

  • Foundry 13.351 with FateX 1.5.4, Pathfinder 2e 7.12.2 and D&D 5e 5.3.3: the three smoke tests pass (26, 19 and 21 steps) with no console errors, plus 30 checks of the new editor features.

Sheet Tailor 0.5.0

Layout templates in the world

When every character uses the same layout, each on their own artwork, the elements no longer have to be placed sheet by sheet.

  • In the Layout section of the layout editor, the GM clicks Save as a template for everyone: the layout, as it is in the editor, becomes a template of the world (a world setting, for the world's game system).
  • On any sheet, its owner picks the template under Template and clicks Apply to this sheet, then saves. Players see the templates and apply them; only the GM saves and deletes them.
  • Keep this sheet's artwork when applying a template or importing a layout comes on: every page keeps the artwork the sheet already has, with its size, and the elements are resized to it by width. Artwork drawn at the same proportions keeps every element on its spot. Turned off, the template's or the file's artwork comes along, as before.
  • Elements linked to items find the character's items by type and name, as on import.
  • A template is a copy: deleting it does not change the sheets that used it.
  • API (version 2): api.getLayoutTemplates() and await api.applyLayoutTemplate(actor, templateId, { keepArtwork }), to apply a template to many characters with a macro.

Sheets in their own window

The freeform sheet, its Standard Sheet tab, Customize sheet and the layout editor now work when a sheet is moved to a separate browser window: with Foundry 14's own Detach Window, and with the PopOut! module on Foundry 13.

Before, in such a window:

  • the Standard Sheet tab stayed behind in the main window, over the canvas, and the tab was empty;
  • dragging in the layout editor did nothing and stopped the sheet from updating until it was closed;
  • clicks in Customize sheet selected nothing, and a change to a customization did not reach the popped-out sheet.

The Customize sheet panel stays in the main window: PopOut! would otherwise pin it over the middle of the popped-out sheet.

PopOut! 2.24 cannot pop out sheets on Foundry 14 (it fails before moving the window, with every ApplicationV2 window); use Foundry's Detach Window there.

Tidy 5e Sheets

  • Tested with Tidy 5e Sheets 13.10 (Foundry 13) and 14.1 (Foundry 14): Customize sheet works on its sheets.
  • With Tidy as the character sheet, the Standard Sheet tab shows Tidy's edit lock, and the lock switches it to edit mode.

D&D 5e 6

  • Speed fields can be edited again: dnd5e 6 stores speeds under system.attributes.movement.speeds, and the old movement.walk is only a read-only shortcut there. The editor now offers system.attributes.movement.speeds.walk, and layouts made with the old path keep working.

Examples

  • The Pathfinder 2e sorcerer example (The Sorcerer's Codex) is no longer included. The FateX example stays.

Compatibility

  • Foundry VTT 13 and 14 (verified 13.351 and 14.369).
  • Dedicated support: D&D 5e (5.3.3 on Foundry 13, 6.0.6 on Foundry 14), Pathfinder 2e (7.12.2 on Foundry 13, 8.6.0 on Foundry 14) and FateX 1.5.4. Other systems use the generic data-path binding.
  • Tested alongside PopOut! 2.24 (Foundry 13) and Tidy 5e Sheets 13.10.5 and 14.1.2.

Sheet Tailor 0.4.3

Documentation

  • Documentation button next to the Discord button: at the bottom of the layout editor and of the Customize sheet panel, and in Configure Settings → Sheet Tailor. It opens the guide at https://sheet-tailor.lontrathewizard.workers.dev, in Portuguese when Foundry runs in Portuguese and in English otherwise.
  • The module's manifest now links the documentation, its changelog and the issue tracker.

Sheet Tailor 0.4.2

New name

  • Freeform Sheets is now Sheet Tailor. Another module in the Foundry package list is already called Freeform Sheets, so this one takes a name of its own. Only the name changes: the module id is still freeform-sheets, so saved layouts, customizations, templates, the API and the manifest URL keep working, and updating needs nothing else.

Discord

  • A Discord button at the bottom of the layout editor and of the Customize sheet panel opens the invite to the Lontra the Wizard community on Discord: support, news and suggestions.
  • Configure Settings → Sheet Tailor has a Discord button that opens the same invite.

Freeform Sheets 0.4.1

@LucasChlz LucasChlz released this 11 Oct 21:48

Freeform Sheets 0.4.1

Foundry VTT 14

  • Verified on Foundry 14.369 with D&D 5e 6.0.6, Pathfinder 2e 8.6.0 and FateX 1.5.4, and again on Foundry 13.351 with D&D 5e 5.3.3, Pathfinder 2e 7.12.2 and FateX 1.5.4. Freeform sheets, the Standard Sheet tab, the layout editor and Customize sheet work the same on both versions.

Fixes

  • D&D 5e 6: legendary action and legendary resistance pips on NPC pages were not saved. They now record the spent uses directly, which works with dnd5e 5 and 6.

@LucasChlz LucasChlz released this 11 Oct 20:08

Freeform Sheets 0.4.0

D&D Fifth Edition

  • A complete D&D 5e sheet from the first click. Characters and NPCs of the dnd5e system get freeform pages that follow the tabs of the dnd5e sheet, and the dnd5e sheet itself stays the last tab:
    • Details: species, background and classes, alignment, inspiration, hit points, armor class, proficiency, initiative, speed, death saves, exhaustion, hit dice, short and long rests, the six abilities (score, modifier, check and saving throw), skills with passive Perception, Insight and Investigation, tools, senses, languages, resistances and immunities;
    • Inventory: coins, encumbrance and the inventory sections of the dnd5e sheet (weapons, equipment, consumables, tools, containers, loot);
    • Features: grouped like the dnd5e sheet, by class, species and background for characters and by action type for NPCs, legendary actions included;
    • Spells: spell attack, spell DC and spellcasting ability, then cantrips and one list per spell level with its slot pips, pact magic included;
    • Effects: the conditions, to switch on and off, exhaustion and concentration;
    • Biography: characteristics, personality traits, ideals, bonds, flaws, appearance and the biography.
  • NPCs get a creature page with challenge rating, creature type, speeds, and legendary action and resistance pips.
  • Everything is the dnd5e roll or action. Checks, saving throws, skills, tools, initiative, death saves, concentration, hit dice and rests call the same dnd5e functions as its sheet, with its roll dialogs and chat cards. Clicking an item uses it the dnd5e way: attacks, usage dialog, spell slots and limited uses.
  • Spells that are not prepared are shown faded.
  • Items dropped on a page are added the way the dnd5e sheet adds them: classes, species and backgrounds go through dnd5e advancement, a spell dropped on an inventory list becomes a scroll, and a spell dropped on a spell list takes that list's casting method.
  • Sheet data in the layout editor offers every dnd5e block (hit points, abilities, skills, death saves, coins, spell slots, conditions...) and every list.

Customize the system's sheet

  • The dnd5e sheet can be customized in place like the PF2e and FateX sheets: Customize sheet is in the menu of its window header.

Standard Sheet tab

  • ApplicationV2 sheets show whole. The dnd5e sheet keeps its header area, its play/edit switch and its tab strip inside the tab, and the window widens by what the sheet needs.
  • A sheet that opens straight on the Standard Sheet tab no longer grows far too wide.

Compatibility

  • Foundry VTT 13 (verified 13.351).
  • Dedicated support: D&D 5e 5.3.3, Pathfinder 2e 7.12.2 and FateX 1.5.4. Other systems use the generic data-path binding.
  • dnd5e 6.x requires Foundry 14 and has not been tested yet.
