Paper Weather Widget v3.0.0

English

  • Liquid Glass WPF UI: acrylic backdrop, translucent weather cards, soft highlight sheen, and rain/thunder warm tinting.
  • Security hardening: removed legacy script extraction/execution from the worker path, removed parent-directory launcher discovery, and kept runtime settings in the user data directory.
  • Privacy hardening: release assets exclude personal settings, reports, screenshots, logs, and local machine paths.
  • Reliability fixes: numeric location keys, longer launcher command timeout, snapshot fast-boot/fallback, last-good weather preserved on refresh failure, and worker exit when the launcher owner disappears.
  • Packaging: single unsigned Windows x64 executable plus SHA256 checksum.

  • 液态玻璃版 WPF 界面：亚克力背景、半透明天气卡片、柔和高光层，雨天/雷雨会使用偏暖的视觉状态。
  • 安全修复：worker 不再抽取或执行旧脚本片段，launcher 不再沿父目录寻找可疑脚本，运行配置放到用户数据目录。
  • 隐私修复：发布资产不包含个人 settings、报告、截图、日志或本机绝对路径。
  • 可靠性修复：统一数字地区 key，延长命令超时，支持快照快速启动/失败回退，刷新失败保留上一份可用天气，并修复 launcher 退出后的 worker 残留。
  • 打包形式：Windows x64 单文件 exe，未签名，附 SHA256 校验。

What Changed

  • Ships the Thin CLR launcher as the main Windows build: WeatherLauncher.exe starts fast, then WeatherWorker.ps1 handles weather data over stdout JSON IPC.
  • Adds full Chinese / English UI coverage for weather state, settings, location names, forecast labels, cached state, and startup controls.
  • Keeps the UI in Chinese after refresh when Chinese is selected, and keeps English mode free of leftover Chinese labels.
  • Makes the window draggable from the title area and border edges while keeping normal content clicks usable.
  • Enlarges and aligns the title-bar controls so the cache / live badge, refresh interval, settings, minimize, and close buttons feel balanced.
  • Fixes the expanded default height so weather metrics and settings are no longer clipped.
  • Adds a settings footer credit link to M47E1/paper-weather-widget with an external-link arrow, rendered as plain text without a card background.
  • Packages the runtime into a single Windows exe for v2.0.1.

Package

Download PaperWeatherWidget-v2.0.1-win-x64.exe and run it directly. The worker script and region catalog are bundled inside the exe and are released to the local user cache at runtime.

No administrator rights, API key, WebView2, Node.js, telemetry, or paid weather service is required.

Validation

  • src/launcher/build-launcher.ps1 -Version 2.0.1: PASS.
  • build-single-exe-release.ps1 -Version 2.0.1: PASS.
  • Project tests: 271/271 PASS.
  • Package verification: the exe contains WeatherWorker.ps1 and ChinaRegionCatalog.json as embedded resources.
  • Version verification: PaperWeatherWidget-v2.0.1-win-x64.exe FileVersion is 2.0.1.0 and ProductVersion is 2.0.1.
  • Single exe smoke: running from an otherwise empty folder extracts the worker and catalog, opens settings, and shows 爱来自 M47E1/paper-weather-widget with the external-link arrow.

下载 PaperWeatherWidget-v2.0.1-win-x64.exe 后直接运行。worker 脚本和地区库已内嵌在 exe 中，运行时会释放到当前用户的本地缓存目录。

What Changed

  • Keeps the Anthropic-inspired UI theme with paper-toned surfaces, restrained borders, dark neutral text, and warm accent controls.
  • Adds async weather refresh so network calls no longer block the UI thread.
  • Keeps window position stable when opening settings, changing selectors, refreshing, and toggling the side drawer.
  • Removes the visible side-drawer handle border and keeps X as direct app close.
  • Lazily initializes heavier visual layers and settings dropdown contents to improve startup.
  • Adds Zhongshan and an approximate Envicool Shenzhen HQ node to the built-in region catalog.
  • Renames the project and release assets to Paper Weather Widget / PaperWeatherWidget.
  • Keeps the base WPF-only architecture. No WebView2 renderer code was added.
  • Preserves the current weather and forecast distinction: current data is labeled Now; forecast data is labeled Forecast HH:mm.
  • Preserves Open-Meteo primary provider behavior, wttr.in fallback, cache behavior, and model risk semantics.

  • LonghuaWeatherWidget.ps1 -TestMode: PASS.
  • Test-LocationCatalogAudit: PASS, 51 audited regions, 0 invalid coordinates, 0 0,0 coordinates, 0 swapped coordinates, 0 request/catalog mismatches.
  • Test-EnglishModeNoCjk: PASS.
  • Package verification: SHA256SUMS.txt matched local hashes; ZIP entries are exactly PaperWeatherWidget.exe, LICENSE, and README.txt; packaged EXE launch-close PASS.
  • Full region smoke, 47-region smoke, 200-region smoke, UiRegionRenderSmoke, and RealUiInteractionSmoke were not run because FULL_SMOKE_APPROVED was not provided.
