Test 3
Pre-release
Pre-release
Third test build of Refract for Windows. Expect rough edges; bug reports are welcome.
What's new since Test 2
- Fixed: Yeeps (and other games that ask for a permission) closing about a minute after starting. When a game asked for the microphone, Android opened a permission dialog inside the hidden emulator. Nobody could answer it, the game stopped responding behind it and Android closed it. Refract now grants a game's permissions (microphone, notifications) when it installs the game and again before each launch, so games you already installed are fixed too.
- The Emulator page keeps what it could read from Android even when part of the check fails, and Export diagnostics always includes the logcat.
Getting started
- Download
Refract-0.2.0-win64.zip, unzip it somewhere permanent (for exampleC:\Games\Refract) and openRefract.exe.
Windows SmartScreen may warn because the app isn't signed: click More info > Run anyway.
Updating from an earlier test: close Refract and replace the old folder with the new one. Your library, sign-in and Android stay as they are. - In Settings > Setup, click each button until everything is green. Set up Android downloads about 2.4 GB from Google once.
- Click Connect Meta to sign in and see the Quest games you own. Then open a game and choose Download, Install, and Play in VR (Quest Link / Air Link or SteamVR) or Play on PC (mouse and keyboard, or an Xbox controller).
The first install takes a few minutes while Android is set up. README.txt in the zip has the full instructions.
