v0.0.1-alpha is the first experimental KoboNotebookPlus release for the
Kobo Elipsa 2E (condor) running firmware 4.38.23697.

Added

  • Native notebook layers with add, select, delete, and active-layer restore.
  • Independent writing and erasing on the selected layer.
  • Notebook-ratio layer preview thumbnails with bounded deferred caching.
  • Brush and object eraser modes with five eraser sizes.
  • Persistent eraser size synchronized with the stylus hardware eraser.
  • Custom paper templates and writable first-page notebook covers.
  • Cover-aware notebook thumbnails and persisted cover previews.
  • Page duplication and reordering with backup and rollback safeguards.
  • Filtering which keeps plugin support images out of Home/My Books while
    retaining them in template and cover pickers.
  • Firmware ABI, relocation, artifact, and ARM verification tooling.

Download and installation

For normal installation, download the attached file ending in
KoboRoot.tgz, verify its adjacent SHA-256 file, and place it at
.kobo/KoboRoot.tgz on the supported Kobo. Eject safely and reboot.

The complete installer contains the ARM plugin and the exact stock
libiinknote.so required by firmware 4.38.23697; restoring both together is
the project's crash-safe installation path. The plugin-only ZIP remains
available for developers who manage their own packaging.

Compatibility warning

This build is pinned to Kobo Elipsa 2E (condor), firmware 4.38.23697
only. It calls private firmware APIs. Installing it on another device or
firmware can crash Nickel, corrupt notebooks, or require device recovery.
Back up the Kobo database, settings, and notebooks first, and initially test
with a disposable notebook.

Verification

  • Clean NickelTC GCC 4.9.4 build with -Wall -Wextra -Werror.
  • Firmware ABI verification: 111 symbols, 5 vtable sizes, 31 vtable slots,
    125 instruction pins, and 2 jump slots.
  • Layer-preview ABI and artifact test suites passed.
  • Output: ELF32 ARM EABI5 hard-float shared object.
  • Embedded plugin version: v0.0.1-alpha.
