Release list
9XD 0.3.7
9XD 0.3.7
This release adds verified Genki texture/material fixes and the first video and spline modeling tools, with refined inspectors.
Highlights
- TXRD2 March: primary textures on 19 of 54 decoded parts, correct 4/8-byte UV strides, preserved texture-slot names and clamp sampling in rendering and GLB/FBX export. Other parts can be untextured or use unresolved shader/resource stages.
- TIM2: correct 24-bit image/palette reads and additional strictly validated indexed transfer layouts with 16-bit palettes. All 42 images in the TXR Zero AE86 reference bank decode; this is not a claim of complete scene/material reconstruction.
- 3D → Video Reconstruction: optional FFmpeg frame extraction runs asynchronously with sampling limits, progress, metadata, thumbnails, cancellation and isolated saved jobs.
- 3D → Image / Spline Modeling: image reference canvas, grouped curve points, click/drag editing, zoom/pan, reordering and project save/load with validation and unsaved-change protection.
- Themed inspector cards, clearer states, collapsible tools/logs and explicit unavailable pipeline stages.
Install
Download 9XD-0.3.7-windows-x64.zip, extract the entire folder and run 9XD.exe. Keep DLLs, plugins and Python beside it. Windows 10/11 x64; Vulkan 3D requires a compatible graphics driver. The application is unsigned. Source archives are not the runnable application.
Qt, Python standard library, Vulkan loader, Visual C++ and FBX runtimes and the replaceable LZX library are bundled with notices. Ollama/models, C++ compilers and reconstruction tools are optional separate installations. Select an FFmpeg executable in the Video Reconstruction inspector; place ffprobe beside it for video metadata. FFmpeg/COLMAP/Open3D/ONNX Runtime and model weights are not bundled in this ZIP.
Scope and limits
Frame extraction and image/spline editing are usable foundations. COLMAP sparse reconstruction, camera/point import, calibrated fitting/lofting, segmentation and automatic surface generation are not implemented yet; unavailable pipeline stages stay disabled. The dependency preparation helper is a developer tool using Windows x64 Python 3.12, not an automatic app installer.
Genki external aliases, secondary shaders, LOD selection, some companion-file bindings and game-specific rendering remain incomplete. Native format coverage is documented separately. No game binaries, emulator captures or exported game assets are included. Standalone About splash art stays private; the public logo is supplied separately.
Validation
Windows Release build and deployment/runtime checks passed. Reader tests: 45 passed, 0 failed. Full window suite with the compiler environment and offscreen Qt: 99 passed, 0 failed, 75 optional cases skipped. Fixture-enabled Genki checks: 14 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped. Includes native video extraction/cancellation, spline drawing, save/load rejection checks, and material preview/export coverage. The package is verified for archive integrity, required runtimes, GUI subsystem and source executable equality; a separate clean-machine check remains pending.
9XD 0.3.6
9XD 0.3.6
9XD 0.3.6 refreshes the Windows interface with a module sidebar, searchable commands and a more compact 3D workspace.
Highlights
- Refreshed dark/light theme, consistent icons and a configurable primary-action accent.
- Vertical module sidebar with the app logo, Search and Settings shortcuts; drag module tabs to detach them into separate windows.
- Ctrl+K command palette for finding modules, menu commands and panel actions.
- Redesigned 3D toolbar with compact view/shading menus and Scan access; larger transform controls, coloured axes and clearer grouped settings.
- Empty-state guidance across mesh, image, analysis and scripting panels.
- Safer detached-module close callback lifetime.
This Windows release carries the visual changes from the macOS branch. macOS build presets, sysroot configuration and MoltenVK changes are not part of this Windows package. Existing native racing-format support from 0.3.5 remains available; recent PCSX2 research does not yet add new material/texture readers.
Install
Download 9XD-0.3.6-windows-x64.zip, extract the entire folder and run 9XD.exe. Keep the DLLs, plugins and Python folder beside it. GitHub source archives are not the runnable application.
Windows 10/11 x64; Vulkan 3D needs a compatible graphics driver. Qt, Python, Vulkan loader, Visual C++ and FBX runtimes and the replaceable LZX library are bundled with notices. Ollama/models and compilers are separate optional installations. The build is unsigned.
Validation
- Windows Release package built successfully; executable FileVersion and ProductVersion are 0.3.6.
- Reader regression: 45 passed, 0 failed.
- Window regression: 95 passed, 0 failed, 74 optional checks skipped.
- Focused UI check passed for command search/filtering, keyboard invocation, empty results, Escape, disabled-menu exclusion and vertical module rail setup.
- Portable deployment checks passed for image handlers, bundled Python and script execution with development paths removed. ZIP integrity, bundled dependencies and Windows GUI executable subsystem checked.
- Public package checked to exclude research captures, developer files and standalone About splash artwork. A separate clean-machine validation remains pending.
Known limits
Game-specific shaders, all material variants, LOD/instance selection and every console texture format are not fully reproduced. Companion files are required for the decoders that use them. A separate clean-machine check remains pending. See the native format documentation for per-variant scope.
Game binaries, emulator dumps, exported game assets, SDK headers and local build presets are not included in the public release. Standalone About splash artwork remains private; only the public app logo is uploaded as a separate branding asset. A SHA-256 checksum accompanies the ZIP.
9XD 0.3.5
9XD 0.3.5
9XD 0.3.5 expands native racing-game asset discovery, linked materials and textures, and large-scene workflows. Supported results load directly from Scan for 3D Data into the viewport and export through the normal model tools.
Highlights
- Native adapters for supported FM1, MSR alpha/retail track, PGR1/2/3/4, NFS Underground 2, R-Tuned and Fast & Furious Xbox study formats. Support is specific to validated structures, not every file from each game.
- PGR3/4 static track discovery with companion STREAM2 resources, native bounded decompression, streamed texture fixes, readable resource hints and one-click Render All.
- NFSU2 geometry/material linkage, shared car texture banks and a native bounded EA HUFF decoder. R-Tuned visual course/car geometry now links supported base images and material groups.
- Separate Genki C1, explicit GIF-strip and TXRD2 v1 topology profiles. TXRD2 selects per-record face suppression from Y or color/alpha according to its validated mesh mode; no universal C1 face rule is applied.
- TXR Zero transfer-form TIM2 decoding: 43 pictures decoded in the reference sample, with 14 supported material bindings. Additional TXR3/TXRD1 multi-model files load and export.
- Hardware-aware performance settings, configurable memory budgets, shared geometry/texture caches and scalable texture uploads for large scenes.
- Faster scan/mesh lists with search, sorting and column controls; multi-selection and batch rendering, clearer cancellation/failure reporting and duplicate prevention.
- Configurable viewport navigation, corrected measurement grid, multi-file open and improved recent-folder/search workflows.
- Expanded native profile documentation and FBX/GLB material/texture export paths.
Install
Download 9XD-0.3.5-windows-x64.zip, extract the entire folder and run 9XD.exe. Keep all DLLs, plugins and the Python folder beside it. GitHub's source archives are not the runnable Windows application.
Windows 10/11 x64. The portable package includes Qt, Python and its standard library, the Vulkan loader, Visual C++ runtime, FBX runtime, and the replaceable native LZX library with source/license notices. Vulkan 3D requires a compatible graphics driver. Ollama/models and C++ compilers are separate optional installations. This build is unsigned.
Validation
- TXR/Genki/TXRD2: 12 checks passed, including scanner Render All, topology isolation over 23 local files, exact draw-bit mutations and GLB/FBX exports.
- TXRD2 reference cases: 19 groups / 1,692 triangles; 54 groups / 8,328 triangles; 22 embedded groups / 352 triangles.
- NFSU2 HUFF reference corpus: 636 blocks across 32 car archives decoded. Separate native Vulkan validation loaded a 3,104,048-triangle scene with 1,561 groups.
- Release packaging verifies startup/image handlers and relocated bundled Python/script execution without development Qt/Python paths. A separate clean-machine test remains pending.
Known limits
Companion files must remain available where a decoder requires them. Complete game shaders, dynamic material replacement, all LOD/instance/hierarchy variants and every console texture format are not reproduced. TXRD2 material/texture association and some UV encodings remain pending; the embedded-resource test is not a reconstructed complete track scene. Kaido's distinct face layout, Dreamcast TXR2 and some raw concatenated Genki sections still need investigation. Unsupported structures are reported rather than guessed.
Game binaries, exported game models/textures, SDK headers, local presets and standalone splash artwork are not included in the source repository. See the README and format documentation for the current scope. A SHA-256 checksum accompanies the ZIP.
9XD 0.3.0
9XD 0.3.0
9XD brings the binary, texture, geometry and scripting workspace together with local AI-assisted analysis and native asset scanning. Formerly Binary Workbench; existing personal layouts, settings and recipe formats remain compatible.
Highlights
- New 9XD identity with a transparent project/application logo.
- Dedicated file, 3D and texture/image scanners. Preview supported discoveries directly and mark recognized structures without changing source bytes.
- Native Genki PS2 0IVX/XMDL and ARCP DMA/VIF reconstruction for validated packet profiles. Recovered triangle strips feed Mesh Collection and normal model export tools; no invented raw index offsets.
- TIM2 discovery walks declared pictures instead of sampling only four, with a bounded 128-image candidate limit.
- Local Ollama assistant with compact replies, document snapshots, controlled binary reads, formatting annotations and real decoder completion receipts. It uses the same native evidence as manual scanning. Install Ollama and a local model separately; neither is bundled.
- FBX export through Autodesk FBX SDK, plus GLB/OBJ/STL; materials and assigned textures are supported on the applicable export paths.
- Expanded 3D editing/viewing: move/rotate/scale gizmos, split and detached views, front/back/top/bottom/left/right orthographic views, grids, frame commands, selection colors, visibility/isolation and XYZ bounds.
- Realistic, cel, simple and wireframe rendering; original vertex normals or face normals, normal/geometry labels and gradient backgrounds.
- Improved mesh recipes, binary-sourced placement and coordinate transforms, file dialog location persistence, color controls and scripting module management.
Download
Download 9XD-0.3.0-windows-x64.zip, extract the entire folder and open 9XD.exe. Keep the bundled DLLs, plugins and Python folders beside it. The source-code archives are not the runnable Windows application.
Windows 10/11 x64. Qt, Python and its standard library, the Vulkan loader, Visual C++ runtime and required FBX runtime are packaged. A compatible graphics driver is required for Vulkan 3D. C++ scripting requires a local compiler. This release is unsigned.
Scope and validation
- 45 reader and 59 interface checks pass; optional sample/model/GPU checks run separately.
- Original Genki sample: 867 validated packets, 26,532 vertex records, 21,942 nondegenerate faces; FBX/GLB export and 40 TIM2 surfaces verified, original-file hash unchanged.
- Original ARCP sample: 3,256 vertices and 2,222 faces across 517 independent strips; native GPU rendering and local-AI rendering verified.
- Native GPU checks completed without Vulkan validation errors. Packaging checks image plugins, relocated Python and script execution with development paths removed.
- Profile-specific geometry recovery retains local parts and overlapping variants. Game hierarchy, visibility/LOD selection, material and texture binding remain unresolved. Raw/console layouts outside supported profiles still require explicit recipes.
- Scanning inspects at most 32 MiB; empty results do not prove absence of assets. A clean-machine Windows check remains pending.
See the README, user guide and third-party notices for additional limits. A SHA-256 checksum accompanies the portable ZIP.
