Hermes Helmet 0.23.5

Choose a tag to compare

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 21 Oct 10:15
7a86acb

Stable Hermes Helmet 0.23.5, promoted from the existing reviewed and tested release-candidate artifacts without rebuilding them.

Source and release branch: 7a86acb5d938e0eaf2a8c7c3feb41e6c8157b616. Includes namespaced writing discovery/workflows, feedback and immediate-claim correlation, and review supervision/recovery guidance (PRs #124–#126). Later main changes are not included.

Download the attached wheel, source distribution, or plugin archive. This is a GitHub package release; it is not a PyPI publication. SHA256SUMS verifies the original artifacts; release-identity.json preserves their candidate provenance.

Public runtime image (linux/amd64 and linux/arm64):
ghcr.io/machinewisdomai/hermes-helmet/runtime:0.23.5

Verified immutable digest:
ghcr.io/machinewisdomai/hermes-helmet/runtime@sha256:3cb69c6420feb50a35314551c47d4f77057ea89042650224895c81b57c1aff00

The maintained build/scan/publication workflow passed for this exact source. Both platform manifest digests were verified again at promotion. The wheel previously passed isolated Python 3.13 installation and console/version checks; packaged skills matched source. All attached package checksums were reverified at promotion.

Operational evidence includes two days with this source overlay: 164 completed coding/review sessions and eight writing submissions. That installation used an older pinned runtime base plus adopter-specific overlays; it is not a two-day soak test of the standalone public image. Existing scan exceptions and upstream limitations remain those of the linked build. This release does not claim that all writing recovery, test-selection, or command-refusal work is complete.

Hermes Helmet 0.23.5 RC1 — first-wave writing

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 16 Oct 19:24
7a86acb

Integrated first-wave writing candidate: namespaced Helmet Write discovery and writing workflows (PR #124), feedback/immediate-claim correlation (PR #125), and truthful review supervision and supported recovery guidance (PR #126). Epic #117 and issue #110 are complete in source.

Source: 7a86acb5d938e0eaf2a8c7c3feb41e6c8157b616. Its tree matches independently approved head 44b86b0e382d1197019757c071ee67f17432f9b9; required checks passed. Package and plugin version: 0.23.5. This GitHub release is a prerelease, following the existing RC convention; no stable promotion.

The wheel was built from the attached source distribution, installed with declared dependencies in an isolated Python 3.13 environment, and its console and version verified. Bundled skill files match source byte-for-byte. SHA256SUMS and release-identity.json identify the attached artifacts.

The exact-source runtime image publication succeeded in run 38954569183. The published multi-platform image is ghcr.io/machinewisdomai/hermes-helmet/runtime@sha256:3cb69c6420feb50a35314551c47d4f77057ea89042650224895c81b57c1aff00; platform identities are attached in helmet-first-wave-image-identity.json. Host CLI/plugins are installed at 0.23.5 and fresh Codex namespaced skill invocation passed. Worker installation and installed feedback/profile acceptance remain pending; this release is not a full installation receipt.

Deferred: full editor replacement and unfinished-output recovery in #122, upstream guard work, and the remaining #135 campaign. Existing writing artifact/editorial acceptance is retained; new installed consumer acceptance will be recorded separately.

Hermes Helmet 0.17.5 RC1 — First Officer continuation

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 14 Oct 20:36

First Officers now resume after automatic completion notifications or one native schedule, with a configurable five-minute default. A process handle that requires repeated polling no longer qualifies as automatic continuation. Issue and epic runs share the bundled continuation contract and stop their schedule when work ends.

Package and plugin version: 0.17.5. This GitHub release is marked as a prerelease, following the existing RC convention. Source: fcaaff337766048b8ea82c5773229848128009d3, merged through PR #96. Its tree matches the independently approved head.

The wheel was built from the attached source distribution and installed in a clean Python 3.13 environment. Console, policy cadence and bundled skill/reference checks passed; merged-source hosted verification and architecture checks passed. SHA256SUMS and release-identity.json identify the artifacts.

This is a First Officer package/plugin candidate. The existing worker container remains unchanged.

Hermes Helmet 0.16.1 RC1 — package candidate

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 12 Oct 13:10
159f28a

Monday package candidate from tested source 159f28ae4e8ea637d589968c302df8e997afbd83: corrects the documented published-preview package label and advances the tracked patch to 0.16.1. The wheel, sdist and plugin archive use that exact source; package/plugin metadata is 0.16.1 and this GitHub release is marked as a prerelease, following the existing RC convention.

Exact-source hosted Verify and architecture checks passed. The existing independent distributable packaging proofs passed: wheel from sdist, installed consoles and bundled skills/references. SHA256SUMS and release-identity.json record the immutable artifacts.

This is a package/plugin candidate. It does not claim a new runtime image or container installation. The separately installed runtime candidate remains 0.16.0 RC1, source 750662e04a997eaa7da77969535baa98265a5bd3.

Hermes Helmet 0.1.0rc2 — autonomy repair

Choose a tag to compare

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 29 Sep 20:57
f22ff39

Hermes Helmet 0.1.0rc2 repairs merge autonomy while preserving hard authority ceilings.

Interactive runs choose merge mode once and persist it across waits and restarts. Scheduled runs use policy defaults. New and omitted policies default to unattended merge only after exact-head Captain approval, required checks, and current GitHub mergeability. Explicit installation policy and persisted manual choices remain hard ceilings.

Hermes Helmet: first public source preview

Choose a tag to compare

@timeleft-- timeleft-- released this 23 Sep 17:52

Hermes Helmet is an open-source software factory for teams using coding agents.

Available under Apache-2.0, Hermes Helmet keeps delegated work connected from a GitHub issue through implementation, review, repair, and acceptance. It gives teams a shared workflow to operate and adapt. A Hermes worker implements under its own GitHub account, credentials, container, and checkout. The Captain coordinates, reviews, and handles merging under the human owner's policy. GitHub records who wrote, reviewed, repaired, and accepted the work.

This first public source preview includes:

  • Configurable human/worker identities and repository scope.
  • GitHub issue intake, same-PR review and repair, and explicit merge policy.
  • Single-issue and epic orchestration, status, and managed event waits.
  • Setup/doctor and portable skills maintained from one source.
  • Optional OpenViking working memory and FAVA Trails governed decisions.
  • Source-build instructions, tests, license, and third-party notices.

Start with the README and quickstart.

The attached wheel installs the hermes-helmet CLI. Its existing Python version remains 0.1.0rc1; this dated release and its checksums identify the public source preview. The complete hermes-helmet-source-preview-2026-09-23.tar.gz includes Docker configuration, documentation, and tests.

Validation: all 569 tests passed locally; hosted Linux/macOS verification, Compose, source security scan, and package installation checks passed. No private deployment history or credentials are included.

The runtime can be built from source. This release does not distribute a prebuilt container image. Known upstream-image findings, optional hosted ChatGPT coverage, and host-dependent unattended continuation are described in the preview notes.
