Release list
MagSID Xplatform 0.3
MagSID Editor 0.3 for macOS, Windows and Linux - the Avalonia port.
What's new in 0.3
- MIDI keyboard on macOS, Windows and Linux: the MIDI menu lists your inputs and reopens the last one at start. Notes play and record in both views, and the DAW's knobs can be bound to controllers (right-click a knob).
- File → Import MIDI: a new song from a
.midfile, with the same choices as the Windows editor - which part goes on each of the three voices, sounds from the bank, timing and bars - and the size of the result before anything is replaced. - Edit → Optimize: shrinks the pattern data without changing what the song plays, and shows what it will do before it does it.
- Fixed: playback stopped when a note used an instrument loaded while the song played, and the piano roll could crash while a clip's end was dragged in Arrange (as in MagSID Editor 1.53 for Windows).
- Fixed: Import MIDI opened with every voice silent instead of the suggested parts.

Nothing to install: .NET is inside each package.
macOS: unzip and move MagSID to Applications. It is not notarised by Apple yet, so macOS stops it the first time it is opened:
- macOS 15 Sequoia and later: open MagSID once and close the warning, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to MagSID and choose Open Anyway.
- macOS 14 and earlier: right-click MagSID, choose Open, then Open again.
- If macOS says MagSID is damaged and can't be opened, remove the mark macOS puts on downloads, in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MagSID.app- only for software you trust.
Windows: unzip and run MagSID.exe. It is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may ask the first time: More info, then Run anyway.
Linux: unpack and run ./MagSID; README.txt says how to add it to the menu.
SHA-256 checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.
