DAY 5

We started by designing the enclosure for our robot car in CAD and then 3D printed it. Watching the enclosure slowly take shape layer by layer was exciting, although the print took around 3 hours to complete. We also designed the chassis in FreeCAD and used a laser cutter to fabricate it. It was amazing to see how quickly the machine worked—the entire cutting process took only a few minutes and the precision was incredible. Seeing our digital design become a physical part so accurately was a great experience. In electronics, we focused on calibrating and testing our code. We ran into an error during testing, but after some troubleshooting and adjustments, we successfully fixed it and got the system working as expected. We then soldered jumper wires to the DC gear motors to create reliable connections for our robot. Apart from the technical work, we also conducted primary research by creating a Google Form to gather feedback and suggestions from people. This helped us better understand user needs and identify ways to improve our project. The rest of the day was spent refining the code and bringing all the pieces of the project together.
