📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • One Content tab: mods, resource packs, shaders and datapacks each had a tab of their own. They now share a single Content tab with a picker above the list — All, Mods, Resource packs, Shaders, Datapacks — and everything that used to work for mods only now works for all of them: the search box, the sortable columns, Update all, and a count next to each kind. Packs left as a plain folder instead of a .zip are listed too.
  • Instance settings behind a gear: settings are no longer a tab you scroll past — the gear next to Game folder opens them, so the tabs are only the things you actually browse. The window keeps one height whichever section you are in.
  • Build an instance icon in the launcher: click an instance's icon in its settings and pick Create icon. Choose a background, choose a symbol, or press Randomize until something fits; the preview shows it at the sizes it will really appear in. Add your own takes any image and keeps it, so your own symbols sit first in the list the next time. The same editor is there when you create an instance, and Upload icon still takes a file straight from disk.
  • Shortcuts on your desktop: Create shortcut — in an instance's ⋯ menu and in the right-click menu in your library — puts a shortcut on the desktop carrying that instance's name and icon (on macOS, its name). Double-click it and the launcher starts if it is not already running, opens the instance and launches the game.
  • Play straight from the library: hover an instance card and a play button appears over its icon. One click and the game starts — no need to open the instance first. While it is installing or already running the button shows that instead.
  • The version you are on is marked: changing the mod loader and picking other now marks the loader version the instance already uses and starts on it, instead of an empty box.
  • Dialogs say what they are about to do: changing a mod's version tells you the file you have now is replaced, the mod-list export lists the placeholders it understands, and creating a group mentions that it only rearranges your library.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Clicking an instance opens it: a click sometimes did nothing at all — the smallest twitch of the mouse while pressing counted as the start of a drag, and the launcher swallowed the click on purpose so dragging a card never opened it. A card now has to actually move before it becomes a drag.
  • "Open location" opens the folder the file is in: the button in the Logs tab, and the same one for screenshots, opened your home folder instead. It now opens the right folder with the file selected.
  • The window moves while a dialog is open: dragging the title bar did nothing whenever any dialog was open, and so did minimise and close. All three work now.
  • Change loader is no longer hidden behind settings: opening it from instance settings drew it underneath the settings window, and once that was sorted, its version list opened underneath the dialog itself.
  • A mod conflict no longer hides your mods: when the launcher spotted a conflict, the warning replaced the entire list instead of sitting above it.

📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • Restore points for an instance: a new Restore points tab takes a snapshot of an instance — its mods, configs and content list — and puts it back with one click. One is taken automatically before anything that rewrites content, so a pushed pack update or a modpack update that removes mods is no longer a one-way trip. The panel shows what each point holds, and settings control the automation and how many are kept. Your worlds are never part of a restore point, and never touched by one.
  • See who is around: friends now carry a status dot — green online, blue in game, red busy, grey offline — and the list puts whoever is around at the top. Under your own name you choose what everyone else sees: Visible, Busy, or Hidden, which makes you look exactly like a closed launcher.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • A failed sign-in renewal says what happened: launching an instance sometimes failed with token refresh failed: error decoding response body, which told nobody anything. It now names the account and the reason — usually that too long has passed since the last sign-in, or the password changed, so the account needs adding again — and tells that apart from a dropped connection, which it simply retries.

📝 What's Changed

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Missing icons on macOS: the "+" on New instance and a number of other icons simply were not there. Icons were being fetched from the internet each time the launcher ran, and on macOS that request never came back. They are part of the app now, so they show up on every system — and with no connection at all.
  • Notifications go away once you have dealt with them: accepting a friend request left its notification sitting in the list, and so did an invitation to a modpack after installing it. Answering a request now clears it, and an invitation disappears once the pack has actually downloaded — cancel the install and it stays, waiting for you.
  • Dismiss a notification: every entry has an ✕ for the ones you simply do not want to act on.

📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • Your Minecraft name, on your Spectra account: sign in to both and the launcher links the profile you play as, so friends can find you by the name they actually know you by. It comes from Mojang rather than from whatever the launcher claims, so nobody can take a name that is not theirs — and offline accounts stay unlinked.
  • See who you are inviting: typing in the friend box now shows matching players with their avatar, their Spectra name and their in-game name underneath, and you pick one. A Minecraft nick is rarely the same as a Spectra username, and sending a request into the dark was a good way to end up friends with a stranger. The list also tells you when you are already friends or have already asked.
  • Sent requests are a list: everyone you have invited is shown with a button to take the invitation back, instead of a line saying how many are waiting.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Adding by e-mail or by exact name works again: pressing Enter in the friend box did nothing at all unless the text was an e-mail address or the suggestions had narrowed to exactly one person. It now sends either way, and says so when nothing matches.

📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • Spectra accounts: sign in from the button next to the activity indicator and the launcher gets a friends list. Create the account with an e-mail and password or with Discord, Google, GitHub or Microsoft, protect it with two-factor codes, and pick a username and avatar — all on the website; the launcher just opens your browser and takes it from there.
  • Friends, by name instead of by code: add someone by their username or e-mail, accept the requests that come back, and everyone you have added shows up in the panel on the right. Collapsed, that panel is gone completely — it takes no room from the page underneath.
  • Send a modpack straight to a friend: instances now have a Share tab in place of the entry in the ⋯ menu. Share the instance once, then invite friends from the list — the pack lands in their launcher as a notification with an Install button, no code to read out loud. Codes still work for everyone else.
  • Push an update to everyone who has it: changed something after sharing? Push update re-uploads the instance and tells every friend who installed it. Their Update button applies the changes to the copy they already have — mods the author added arrive, mods the author removed go away, and anything they installed themselves is left alone.
  • See who is on what: the Share tab lists everyone you sent the pack to and whether they are up to date, out of date or have not installed it yet.
  • Codes last a week, and you decide when they end: in the last 48 hours an Extend by a week button appears, and Expire the code kills it on the spot. Whatever friends already installed stays on their disk either way — they simply stop getting updates.
  • Pick exactly which extra files travel: mods and packs that match no Modrinth or CurseForge project can only be sent as raw files. Instead of one all-or-nothing switch, you now get a tree of them with sizes, ticked one by one, so a 200 MB local jar only goes if you want it to.
  • You can watch it work: sharing shows what it is doing — checking the instance, packing, uploading — with a progress bar for the current step and a second one for the whole job.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Shares are small again: a share was quietly packing every cache your mods leave behind — Distant Horizons terrain, map caches, replay recordings. One real instance came to 1.4 GB. A share now carries only mods, resource packs, shaders, datapacks, configs and the instance icon, which took that same instance down to about 30 MB. It also means a share no longer carries a record of which servers you play on.
  • Shared instances arrive with their icon: a pack you receive now looks like the one that was shared instead of a blank tile.
  • Big packs actually upload: packs go straight to storage now rather than through the website, so the old 25 MB ceiling is gone — up to 1 GB, streamed from disk rather than held in memory.

📝 What's Changed

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Linux/AppImage: buttons that leave the app now work: "Game Folder", "Reveal in file manager", mod pages and every other external link did nothing when running the AppImage. The AppImage points the library paths at its own bundled copies, and the file manager or browser inherited them and died on startup — those overrides are now stripped from anything the launcher opens, with a fallback for systems without xdg-utils.

📝 What's Changed

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • No more duplicate mods across platforms: installing a CurseForge mod whose dependency you already had from Modrinth (or the other way round) downloaded a second copy of that dependency and quietly re-labelled the mod as coming from the other platform — breaking its update checks. Dependencies you already have are now recognised across both platforms, by project name and by jar filename, and left exactly as they are.
  • CurseForge share links explained: pasting a curseforge.com/.../share/... link into the share-code field now says what it is and points you to the CurseForge app's "Export profile" .zip instead of failing with "code does not exist".
  • The launcher names itself in browser prompts: opening a spectra:// link asked to launch "pl.makoto.spectra-launcher"; it now says Spectra Launcher.

🐧 Linux x64 (deb) Spectra.Launcher_0.5.0_amd64.deb

📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • Share an instance with a code: pick Share instance from an instance's ⋯ menu and Spectra hands you a 6-character code (and a link) to pass around. Whoever gets it opens New instance → Import → From a share code and receives a full clone: mods, resource packs, shaders, datapacks, configs and your server list. Codes stay valid for 7 days.
  • Every mod keeps its source: shares travel as a list of projects rather than a pile of jars, so a CurseForge-heavy pack stays small and arrives as CurseForge mods on the other side — update checks keep working exactly as they should. Mods you added by hand are matched against Modrinth and CurseForge first; anything that matches nothing is listed before you share, and only ships if you tick it.
  • Links open the launcher: the share link opens a page with an Open in Spectra Launcher button that jumps straight into the app with the code filled in (spectra://).
  • Nothing personal leaves your PC: worlds, screenshots and crash reports are never part of a share.

📝 What's Changed

✨ Features & Improvements

  • Smart Mod Conflicts: False-positive "wrong loader" warnings have been eliminated. If you are on Forge or NeoForge and install a compatibility mod (like Sinytra Connector or Forgified Fabric API), Fabric mods will now be properly recognized as compatible without triggering conflict alerts.
