Getting Started

This walkthrough assumes you already have an FTB Team (solo or party) and the mod installed per Installation.

1. Claim your first chunk

Open the FTB Chunks map and claim a chunk as usual. Doing so charges your (or your team's) Lightman's Currency balance the current claim price — see claimPrice/claimPricingMode in Configuration for how that price is calculated and how it scales as you claim more. If you can't afford it, the claim is blocked outright and you're told the price and your current balance.

A freshly claimed chunk starts completely unprotected (public everything) until your team's next successful upkeep settlement — see Protection Upkeep. This also means it can't be listed on the marketplace yet; see Chunk Marketplace.

2. Set up protection

Open your team screen (FTB Teams) and use the new Regions button next to the war button. Every team starts with one auto-created "Default" region containing all of your claims. From the Region Settings screen you can toggle:

  • Mob griefing, explosion damage, PvP
  • Block interact, block edit, and entity interact — each with four access tiers: Public, Allies, Team, or Private

Each non-default toggle adds to your recurring upkeep bill (upkeepPeriodMinutes, default hourly) — the screen shows the exact price live as you toggle. If a change would make your next upkeep unaffordable, it's queued ("pending") instead of applying immediately, and takes effect at your next successful settlement.

3. Create more Regions

If you want part of your territory protected differently than the rest — say, an open border strip left fully public while your base stays locked down — open the Region List screen (same button as above) and create a new named region. Assign chunks to it from the FTB Chunks map or Xaero's World Map right-click menu ("Assign to Region"). Each region bills and dismantles independently; see Regions for the full model.

4. Try the marketplace

From the FTB Chunks map (Shift+right-click a claimed chunk) or Xaero's World Map right-click menu, officers/the owner can Sell as Country to list a state-owned chunk for sale, and any player can Buy a listed chunk. See Chunk Marketplace for private ownership, whitelist/blacklist, and expropriation.

5. (Optional) Declare war

If another team is encroaching or you want to raise their costs, open the War screen from your team settings to declare war — see Wars.

Next steps

  • Read Features for the full detail on every system.
  • Read Configuration to tune prices, upkeep timing, and dismantle order to your server's economy.
  • /lc_ftb_hook upkeep_details and /lc_ftb_hook upkeep_priority (see Commands) are your two best in-game diagnostics when something about pricing or dismantle order looks unexpected.
