1.2
1.2 brings the network-play betas together, and adds a lobby. No game data is in any package: you need your own Xbox disc. To update a PC install, replace the program (and, on Linux, lib/) and keep data/ and config/. A disc imported before 1.2 has to be imported once more. The Android package is signed like 1.1, so it installs over it.
Network play
NETWORK in the mode menu, where Xbox Live was. Windows, Linux and Android play each other, a phone against a PC too.
- HOST MATCH waits for a player and shows this machine's address. It also announces that game on the local network.
- LOBBY lists the games waiting on the same network. Pick one to join it. There is no address to type. On a touch screen, tap the row.
- JOIN MATCH calls an address you type. On the pad, up and down pick a letter. A keyboard types.
- Both machines go straight to the versus character select, with the host's game options. Each machine keeps its own screen, sound and keys.
- INPUT DELAY is 0 to 6 frames, 2 by default, and the host sets it. Raise it on a slow connection so there are fewer rollbacks.
- Hold BACK for two seconds to leave. EXIT on the NETWORK page goes back to the mode menu.
- Closing the game during a match tells the other player, so they are not left waiting out the timeout.
- Over the internet, the host's router must forward UDP port 33133 to the host. On a local network, a firewall on the host must allow UDP 33133, and UDP 33134 so other machines can see the announcement.
Language
GAME OPTION → LANGUAGE is ENGLISH or JAPANESE. It asks first, and tells you the game will restart. Yes restarts into that release. Japanese is how a Japanese Xbox ran the game: its text, character names, title and CPU.
Since 1.1
- The first start asks for the disc once more and saves the retail image that keeps every machine on the same game.
- A phone and a PC stay in sync. Rollback on Android links the compiler's atomic helpers, which the first beta left out.
- A crash while a stage drew its dawn sky is fixed.
- A crash at the end of every network game is fixed.
- The Windows and Android apps have an icon.
