Release list
OliSe Player 02.001.000
Two archives to listen to, and a scroller that tells you what is playing.
Modland as a second source
Triangle now asks which archive first, then which station. The two are kept
apart because they are organised differently: the Mod Archive by genre and
chart, Modland by curated playlist.
Modland is read through its playlists, which are plain text files of direct
links. Eight stations: the favourites of around 850 modules, a chiptune
selection, netlabel releases, a couple of musicdisks and a demoparty compo.
The scroller says what is playing
The greeting runs its one pass at startup and is never cut short. After that
the band carries the track: title, source, the tracker that wrote the module,
channels, instruments, patterns, running time, and the genre and artist where
the archive gave them. A new track fades the band out, swaps the line and
fades it back in.
Visualiser
Stepping through presets follows a shuffled order instead of the alphabet.
Sorted by filename, stepping meant working through one author at a time. The
visualiser also moves on by itself every minute; L2 + Options turns that off.
Keep a track
L2 + Circle writes the playing module into music/ and adds it to
index.txt, so a tune that would otherwise scroll out of the 20 track history
can be kept.
Fixed
The interface named The Mod Archive everywhere, including while downloading
from Modland. Each track now carries where it came from.
Installing
Copy the contents of PPSA01153.zip to /data/homebrew/PPSA01153/, reload
the jailbreak chain and start it from the home screen. The 552 MilkDrop
presets are in the zip; OliSePlayer-presets.zip is the same pack on its own,
for adding to an install made without it.
Drop your own modules in music/ and add their names to music/index.txt:
the sandbox will not let the app list a folder, so it reads that index.
OliSe Player 02.000.001
A packaging fix on top of 02.000.000.
What changed
PPSA01153.zip now carries the MilkDrop presets, so installing it from a
store gives you the real presets straight away. In 02.000.000 the zip was
written before the presets were copied in, so it shipped without them.
The test modules are gone from the zip. music/ holds a note and an empty
index.txt instead, for your own files: add the name of every module you drop
in there to that index, because a title sandbox will not let the app list a
folder by itself.
Installing
Copy the contents of PPSA01153.zip to /data/homebrew/PPSA01153/, reload
the jailbreak chain so ShadowMountPlus registers the title, and start it from
the home screen. Nothing else is needed: the 552 presets are in the zip.
OliSePlayer-presets.zip is the preset pack on its own, for adding it to an
install that was made without it.
Everything else
See 02.000.000 for the OpenGL rendering, the MilkDrop visualiser and the fix
that made local modules work again.
OliSe Player 02.000.000
OliSe Player now renders through OpenGL and runs the original MilkDrop presets.
What is new
MilkDrop visualiser. Press Square: the visualiser cycles off, behind the
interface, and full screen. With the preset pack installed those are the real
presets from the last official MilkDrop release, run by projectM 4.1.8, with
their scripts and shaders intact and reacting to the module that is playing.
Triangle picks the next preset, L2 + Triangle the previous one, and
R2 + Triangle a random one.
Without the pack the app falls back to a built-in effect with 24 presets over
seven warp modes, so there is always something to look at.
Local modules work again. Files in music/ were never found on the
console. Three things were wrong: the app folder was derived from argv[0],
which a native title does not provide; the title sandbox refuses to list a
folder; and the title registered as a media app, which gets stricter rules
than a game. All three are fixed.
Installing
- Copy the contents of
PPSA01153.zipto/data/homebrew/PPSA01153/on the
console. - Optional, for the real MilkDrop presets: unpack
OliSePlayer-presets.zipinto the same folder, so that
/data/homebrew/PPSA01153/presets/exists. - Reload the jailbreak chain so ShadowMountPlus registers the title, and
start it from the home screen.
Drop your own modules in music/ and add their names to music/index.txt:
the sandbox will not let the app list a folder, so it reads that index
instead.

| Button | What it does |

| L2 / R2 + Triangle | Previous / random preset |
| R3 / L3 | Next / previous track |
| Circle | Local file list |
| Cross | Pause |
| Touchpad | All controls on screen |
Notes
The app is 26 MB where the previous release was 2.6 MB. Mesa is linked
statically, and that is what running shaders on this console costs.
The preset pack carries projectM's own statement on the licence of these
presets: almost none was released under a specific licence, and after two
decades of free circulation they are treated as public domain. A preset author
who objects can have theirs removed; see presets/PRESETS-LICENSE.md.
01.000.002
Added
- The version number (
contentVersion) is shown next to the logo.
Removed
- The websrv/elfldr payload build and
OliSePlayer.zip; the native title is
the only supported way to run OliSe Player. - The L2 + R2 quit combination; close the app with the PS button.
Install: unzip PPSA01153.zip and copy the PPSA01153 folder to /data/homebrew/ (ShadowMountPlus).
01.000.001
Fixed
- The title reserved about 337 MB of
/download0storage it never used
(downloadDataSize256 from the template); it is now 0. Remove and
re-add the app once to free the space of an earlier install. make uploadnow stops on FTP errors and prints the local and remote
hash ofeboot.bin.
Install: unzip PPSA01153.zip and copy the PPSA01153 folder to /data/homebrew/ (ShadowMountPlus). OliSePlayer.zip is the websrv payload version.
01.000.000
First native PS5 title release (homebrew.page catalog format). Tags now
follow the contentVersion in sce_sys/param.json.
Added
- Native PS5 title build (title ID PPSA01153):
makeproduces a signed
eboot.binwithsce_sysandlibc.prx, ready for ShadowMountPlus and
the homebrew.page catalog. Uses the ps5-native-app-boilerplate tooling. make uploadcopies the title folder to the console over FTP.LICENSE(GPL-3.0-or-later) andTHIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.- A dedication to Olivier and Elise shows as a notification at start-up.
- Error notifications on the PS5 when start-up fails (display, audio, player).
Changed
- The websrv/elfldr payload build moved to
Makefile.payload(make payload). - Local file list and track history no longer use the C++ standard library
containers, so the native build links without libc++. - The native title draws through libSceVideoOut (tiled 1080p buffers) instead
of SDL's video driver, which does not run inside the title sandbox; SDL is
still used for audio and the controller. The title also carries its own
mmap-based heap because the sandbox libc heap is too small for 1080p
framebuffers and multi-megabyte modules.
Install: unzip PPSA01153.zip and copy the PPSA01153 folder to /data/homebrew/ (ShadowMountPlus). OliSePlayer.zip is the websrv payload version.
