Aether-GUI v0.8.0
Bundles Aether v2.1.0 (up from 1.5.0).
New
- Psiphon and Tor. A new Network selector runs Psiphon or Tor alone, inside the WARP tunnel, or with WARP dialled through them. Psiphon needs no configuration, connects in seconds, and has an exit-country option. The GUI waits until the core reports Tor/Psiphon is actually ready before showing Connected.
- MASQUE-in-MASQUE protocol (two nested MASQUE hops, for a different exit address).
- Set as system proxy. While connected, the OS proxy setting points at the tunnel (via a local HTTP proxy) and your previous setting is restored on disconnect, on exit, and after a crash. Tested on Windows; macOS and GNOME are implemented but untested, so reports are welcome.
- Start on login (launches to the tray) and Connect on launch.
- Tray icon status: green dot when connected, amber while connecting, plus Connect / Disconnect in the tray menu.
- HTTP proxy, upstream proxy and exit-country filter options.
- Scan mode Stealth is now Verified (the core renamed it; saved profiles migrate automatically).
- Copy / clear logs, the proxy address on the connected screen, a resizable window, and Chinese and Japanese READMEs.
Fixed
- Stuck on "Answering setup prompts" (#3, #25): Windows console escape sequences broke prompt matching, and the UI never advanced past Launching. Both fixed; the progress bar now shows.
- Stopping the core no longer leaves Tor/Psiphon helper processes running.
- Local Windows builds no longer ship without the tunnel engine (new
fetch-aether.ps1; CI now fails if the core orpt/is missing).
Known issue
- The Linux AppImage can crash on some Arch/Mesa setups (#32). Use the
.deb/.rpm, or see the workaround in #26.
