Boar 0.4.0
Boar is a video editor with a multitrack timeline and AI that runs on your PC. This version adds macOS and Linux builds and updates itself from now on.
Alpha. It is already good for real editing, but it is young: save often and report what goes wrong.
New in 0.4.0
- macOS and Linux (experimental): dmg for Apple Silicon and Intel, AppImage and .deb. On a Mac, ⌘ works like Ctrl and shortcuts show Mac symbols.
- Automatic updates: when Boar starts it looks for a new release and offers to install it. Windows and the AppImage update themselves and start again; the dmg and the .deb are downloaded for you to install. Help › Check for Updates checks at any time; Options › Check for Updates at Startup turns the startup check off.
- Save before closing: with unsaved changes, closing asks Save / Don't Save / Cancel.
- An untouched project is no longer marked as changed.
- Text uses bundled fonts by default, so a project looks the same on every system.
- README in English, with an Italian translation.

The installers are not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS warn the first time: the README explains how to continue. Boar 0.3.1 has no updater: install 0.4.0 by hand once, later versions arrive by themselves.
Captions and Transcript need FFmpeg with the whisper filter (see the README). On macOS and Linux the usual FFmpeg packages don't include it yet.
Italiano
Novità in 0.4.0
Help › Check for Updates controlla quando vuoi; Options › Check for Updates at Startup disattiva il controllo all'avvio.
