Boar is a video editor with a multitrack timeline and AI that runs on your PC. This version lets you rotate anything, draw your own masks and cut out an object with a click, and makes sure nothing ever leaves your computer.

Alpha. It is already good for real editing, but it is young: save often and report what goes wrong.

New in 0.6.0

  • Rotate text, images and video: in the preview, move the mouse just outside a corner of the selected item and drag (hold Shift for 15° steps). Ctrl+R and Ctrl+Shift+R turn the selection by 90°, handy for phone footage shot sideways: a clip that filled the frame still fills it. Text has a Rotation field too, and Event Pan/Crop rotates the same way.
  • Custom masks: Event Mask has a new Custom shape. Click to place points, joined by straight sides or a smooth curve, drag them, and animate the shape with keyframes like Event Pan/Crop.
  • Smart Select: pick the tool and click an object: the AI cuts it out. Click more parts to add them, Alt+click what to leave out. Track Motion follows the object through the whole clip. It runs on your PC, on the graphics card when it can.
  • Nothing leaves your PC. The AI library Boar uses tried to send usage logs to Google every minute: Boar now blocks that and any other connection, except the downloads you ask for (updates, speech models, yt-dlp).
  • AI agents (MCP) get two new tools: rotate and set_mask (cut out an object and track it).

With Boar 0.4.0 or newer installed, the update arrives by itself at the next start (or Help › Check for Updates). The installers are not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS warn the first time: the README explains how to continue.

Captions and Transcript need FFmpeg with the whisper filter (see the README). On macOS and Linux the usual FFmpeg packages don't include it yet.

Novità in 0.6.0
