Boar is a video editor with a multitrack timeline and AI that runs on your PC. This version answers the second round of feedback: transitions that work the way editors expect, animated GIFs that move on the timeline, and preview sound that no longer drops out on some files.

Alpha. It is already good for real editing, but it is young: save often and report what goes wrong.

New in 0.7.5

  • Transitions where you put them. Drag a transition from the Transitions tab onto the start or the end of a clip, or onto two overlapping clips: there the whole overlap becomes the transition, instead of the plain crossfade. While you drag, the part it will cover lights up and the status bar says where it goes.
  • You can see them on the timeline. Each transition shades the part it covers and shows a small tag with its name (shortened with "…" when there is little room). Click the tag to open the Transition window; right-click it to change the type or remove it.
  • Length and position in the Transition window. Choose Start of the clip or End of the clip, the type and the length (slider or seconds). On an overlap the length is the overlap itself: changing it trims both clips around its middle, their sound included. On a plain cut the transition stays centered on it, so the timing of the edit does not change. At the start or end of a clip with nothing next to it, the clip comes in or goes out with the effect. The clip's right-click menu has Transition In... and Transition Out....
  • Animated GIFs. GIFs (and animated WebP and PNG) play on the timeline, in a loop, in the preview and in the render, instead of standing still on the first frame.

Fixed

  • Preview sound that sometimes did not play. When the sound of a clip fell behind the picture, the preview moved it back to where the timeline had been; with long files, or files that take a moment to seek, it was already late again when it got there, so it kept jumping and stayed silent. It now aims where the timeline will be and gives it time, and the sound plays. The same fix keeps the video of slow files from stalling during playback.
  • Videos imported without sound now say why in the status bar (a sound format this system cannot decode, like AC-3 from some cameras), and the preview says when it cannot play a file's sound.

For AI agents (MCP)

  • New set_transition: type, side (in or out) and length for clips; none removes it. get_project lists each clip's transitions.

Italiano

Novità in 0.7.5

Scegli Start of the clip o End of the clip, il tipo e la durata (slider o secondi).
