Download: 0-SpecOpsTheLineVR.zip (first file below), extract it anywhere and run install.bat. If you already have the mod, it updates itself at start-up.

This is a big update. Take some time with the settings in the start menu to find the play style you like: physics can be more or less realistic, heavy objects behave differently depending on the setting, and Walker's hands and body can be used both to attack and to defend.

Interactive world and physics

  • Pick up objects in the scene: bottles, radios, suitcases, crates, monitors and much more (Grab objects). Glowing corners show what you can grab (Highlight objects).
  • Alyx-style gravity gloves (Gravity gloves): point your left hand at an object up to 8 m away, squeeze the grip and flick your wrist, and it flies into your hand. They also pull guns dropped by enemies.
  • Adjustable object weight (Object weight): heavy objects lag a little, sag and turn more slowly, but you can always lift them with one hand.
  • Realistic throws (Throw style, Throw strength): objects leave at the speed of your gesture.
  • Solid hands (Solid hands): Walker's hands no longer go through objects and stay on what you hold.
  • Impact haptics (Impact haptics): you feel an object knocking against a wall, a table or an enemy. The gun hand keeps its own vibrations.
  • Analog grip (Analog grip, off by default): a light squeeze gives a lighter hold.

Objects become weapons

  • Thrown objects hurt enemies (Thrown objects hurt); heavy ones knock them down and you can then execute them.
  • Hit enemies in melee with what you hold (Swing objects at enemies).
  • Objects stop bullets (Objects stop bullets): a suitcase or a crate becomes a shield.
  • Objects break glass (Objects break glass), including the sand windows that bring the sand down on the enemies.
  • Explosive bottles (Explosive bottles): carry and throw them; they explode when shot or dropped from high up.
  • Fake grenades (Fake grenades): an object thrown near enemies makes them take cover.
  • Throw enemy grenades back (Throw back grenades).
  • Pick up enemy weapons (Pick up enemy weapons) with your left hand, by hand or with the gloves, and bring them to your gun hand; the same gun as yours gives you its ammo.
  • Disarm enemies by hitting their gun (Disarm enemies). Drag bodies (Drag bodies).
  • Object noise (Objects make noise): experimental, off by default.
  • Contextual hints explain the new features the first time you need them.

Aiming, weapons and turrets

  • New Controller hold setting (normal or gunstock) and an adjustable Gun angle; the controllers' aiming ray is measured from the runtime.
  • More reliable two-handed grip.
  • Ground turrets are used with both hands like a real machine gun: move your hands left and the barrel turns right, lower them and it rises (Advanced: turretpivot). The helicopter minigun keeps the handlebars. Turrets stop at their mount's limits.

Comfort, body and view (fixes for the reported bugs)

  • Your head no longer goes into walls or squadmates (Head in walls).
  • When Virtual Desktop or SteamVR recenters, the view no longer jumps sideways.
  • Walker's body comes back under your head when you turn (Body under the head).
  • Seated play is detected automatically (Seated play); eye height is right for shorter players too.
  • Crouching lowers the view smoothly (Crouch view).
  • Tilting your head while looking down no longer turns the world.
  • Fixed dynamic resolution showing a different image to each eye (two aim markers), mostly at 120 Hz with Virtual Desktop.

Your settings go back to the defaults once. Dozens of options changed since 0.9.18, so the first start of 0.10.0 puts the new specopsvr.ini in place of your old one. Your old file is kept next to the game as specopsvr.ini.bak-<date>, and a message in the headset says so after 10 seconds of play.

If something goes wrong, run collect_logs.bat and send the zip it creates.
