ApplyPilot 0.6.0 — Discovery, home and letter provenance
ApplyPilot 0.6.0
What's new
- Contextual Home: current-page actions, tracking counts and explicit application resumption. Startup no longer forces the last or sole ongoing application; leaving an application never marks it submitted.
- More useful discovery: job/listing/unknown link classification, job-only default view, targeted Google queries, local platform badges and separate platform/discovery-method filters. Existing entries are retained, not deleted.
- Experimental public LinkedIn connector: bounded anonymous requests and in-panel cards, with inert HTML parsing, cancellation, cooldown and no cookies, account access, redirects or retries.
- Letter provenance: requested model/effort before and during generation, reported provider/model saved afterward, explicit unknown attribution for older letters, and retained provenance after manual edits.
- Draft protection and fixes: generation preserves entered instructions; application switching/regeneration protects unsaved drafts; delayed letter/PDF operations preserve concurrent tracker changes.
Important LinkedIn limitation
The public guest endpoint is undocumented and not a reliable or officially supported integration. An initial anonymous probe returned HTTP 200 and ten individual links; subsequent connector validation received HTTP 429 and stopped without retry or bypass. Structured extraction and UI behavior were tested with synthetic fixtures, not a successful later live connector run. LinkedIn's automation restrictions remain relevant. Publishing this release does not establish live reliability or permission for additional automation.
Pi reports the model, but does not report the effective reasoning effort. The UI therefore labels the saved effort as requested, without displaying or retaining private reasoning blocks.
Upgrade safely
- Save panel drafts before updating; open-panel draft retention does not cover extension reloads.
- Update the checkout, stop the ApplyPilot server, run
npm ciinsideserver/, then restart the server. This release adds a pinned HTML parser dependency. - In
chrome://extensions, reload ApplyPilot, then reopen its panel. Do not reload Workday or remove/reimport the extension.
Catalog compatibility: reads accept schema 1 without modifying it. The first mutation makes an exact private schema-1 backup and writes schema 2. Version 0.5.0 cannot read schema 2; rollback requires restoring the appropriate private backup while the server is stopped, not simply changing the schema number.
Validation
- 382 passing checks across version/localization, pi subprocesses, catalog/parser/HTTP, browser/content and actual-extension fixtures.
- An initial publication run hit a screenshot timeout; fixture capture was foregrounded and the full suite then passed.
- Tests and screenshots use fictional data and fake pi/HTTP responses; no provider quota or live LinkedIn requests were needed for this publication run.
- Eight private profile/config/catalog/application/journal files remained unchanged and excluded from Git.
- Existing release tags remain unchanged.

ApplyPilot 0.5.0 — Internship discovery
Internship discovery, without automatic applications
- New Search / Recherche tab with editable internship keywords, AI/software/data/technology-consulting fields, geography, term and query budget. Defaults cover Greater Montréal and remote Canada.
- Bounded Google collection: one dedicated inactive tab, up to eight queries and thirty links per page. Preview queries and stop from any panel tab. No automatic result visits or pagination.
- Assisted LinkedIn: prepared search links and manual URL/detail imports. No LinkedIn scraping, content-script injection, cookie export or account automation.
- Separate private discovery catalog with keyword ranking, save/hide/restore/delete, text filtering and existing-application association. Discovery never creates or submits an application.
- Canonical URLs and employer/LinkedIn alias merging, manual-field precedence, atomic writes, and safe handling of malformed or full catalogs.
- Search/manual-import drafts survive language and tab switches. Existing forms and unsaved profile/letter edits are preserved.
- Document-bound reinjection excludes Google/LinkedIn frames, including frames embedded in employer pages.
Validation
325 checks passed locally: 289 application/server/extension checks and 36 discovery helper/catalog/runner/Chrome tests. Discovery E2E pages are fulfilled locally after interception is installed; no real candidate data or live employer submissions are used. Profile, configuration and existing application records were fingerprinted and remained unchanged.
Live Google collection is not established by these fixture tests. Consent, verification, access denial, changed navigation or unreadable results stop collection without bypass or automatic retry. Verify every job's availability, location and eligibility manually.

- In

ApplyPilot 0.4.0 — Bilingual UI and cancellable autofill
ApplyPilot 0.4.0
- Persistent English / Français interface, independent of posting, form-answer, CV and cover-letter languages.
- Visible version beside ApplyPilot, with a warning when the local server version differs.
- Stop / Arrêter during autofill and pending pi answers. It immediately frees the panel, aborts the request and terminates the owned pi process; already completed fields remain intact.
- Step-bound autofill sessions: navigation or a Workday step change cancels the old run, and late answers cannot populate a different step.
- A 90-second safeguard for pending AI answers; manual retry and non-AI autofill remain available.
- English README, help/startup guidance, GitHub description and fictional screenshots.
- Changelog and Semantic Versioning synchronization/checking script.
254 regression checks passed, using fictional profiles, local fixtures and a fake pi CLI. No real employer application was submitted by these tests. Private profiles and application files are not included in this release.
Updating safely
- Update your local checkout (
git pull --ff-only). - Restart the local server (
start.cmd/./start.sh). - In
chrome://extensions, click Reload on ApplyPilot, then close and reopen its side panel. - Check v0.4.0 beside the name. Keep Overwrite existing fields off.
Do not reload an unsaved Workday form. Updated content scripts are reinjected without navigating the employer page.
ApplyPilot never clicks Submit. Your AI provider's usual privacy policy, quotas and costs still apply.
