Release list
WinSuperResolution v3.3.0
WinSuperResolution v3.3.0
Highlights
- Reorganizes the main workspace into the numbered Home, Super Resolution, and Scaling navigation areas, with a compact header that preserves vertical space on lower-resolution screens.
- Adds a guided workflow: apply virtual-resolution capability, restart Windows, refresh when necessary, then set the desktop resolution and scaling through either WinSuperResolution or Windows Display Settings.
- Adds an expandable troubleshooting guide and positions Clear display cache as a final repair after restart, refresh, and GPU control-panel checks.
- Shows compact installed or not-installed status for NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Software/Adrenalin, and Intel Arc Control. The result is advisory and does not infer DSR or dynamic-resolution settings.
- Expands diagnostic ZIP packages with
environment.txt,display-topology.txt, andoperation-context.txtalongside existing logs, journals, backups, display-state snapshots, and registry exports. - Updates the in-app About link and all localized README introduction links to the Version 3 article.
Diagnostic Package Contents
environment.txt: Windows release evidence, CPU, graphics adapters and driver evidence, GPU control-panel detection, and the detection boundary.display-topology.txt: registered configurations, active display paths, monitor identifiers, connection evidence, current modes, scales, registry targets, and enumerated modes.operation-context.txt: selected configuration, latest capability plans and mutations, operation outcome, backup/journal paths, restart state, and current mode/scale availability.
Diagnostic packages are created locally. Review the ZIP and redact any monitor identifiers, registry data, local paths, or other information you do not want to share before attaching it to an issue.
Upgrade Notes
Replace the previous executable while keeping the application directory intact to retain settings, backups, journals, display-state snapshots, logs, and existing diagnostics. After applying a virtual-resolution capability plan, restart Windows before checking for newly available modes.

WinSuperResolution v2.5.0
WinSuperResolution v2.5.0
WinSuperResolution v2.5 adds visible environment and compatibility evidence for Windows virtual-resolution workflows.
Highlights
- Added a compact Environment and compatibility card above the registered display list.
- Added advisory red, yellow, and green compatibility states without changing existing operation availability.
- Shows Windows version, CPU, graphics adapters, graphics-driver versions and dates, and selected display-path capability.
- Keeps detailed inventory and virtual-desktop path evidence in an expandable view.
- Adds the same compatibility evidence to exported diagnostic summaries.
- Documents that the Windows version baseline alone cannot guarantee graphics-driver or display-path support.
- Localizes operation results, plan previews, confirmation windows, unexpected-error prompts, and retained operation summaries consistently across English, Simplified Chinese, and Russian.
- Adds an in-app About window with the running version, author details, and separate official website, introduction, and GitHub links.
- Shows the running assembly version in the main window title to make user feedback and diagnostic reports easier to identify.
- Refines the About window and language selector layout for readable high-DPI presentation.
Compatibility Policy
The red, yellow, and green status is a diagnostic warning, not a feature gate. The active Windows DisplayConfig path remains the primary capability signal. Old hardware, old drivers, or nonstandard Windows 11 installations can still be inspected and attempted, but virtual desktop mode availability and persistence are not guaranteed.
Experimental per-monitor scaling remains protected by its existing DpiValue safety validation.
Upgrade
Replace the previous WinSuperResolution.exe with the v2.5.0 executable. Keep the existing application directory to retain local settings, backups, journals, diagnostic history, and display-state snapshots.

WinSuperResolution v2.3.0
WinSuperResolution v2.3.0
WinSuperResolution v2.3 improves display-association safety, diagnostics, recovery, and product information for Windows virtual-resolution workflows.
Highlights
- Improved matching between Windows active displays and registered display configurations.
- Prevents unsafe changes when multiple registry configurations map to the same active display.
- Keeps ambiguous or candidate display associations read-only to avoid changing the wrong configuration.
- Added Export Diagnostic Package for collecting logs, journals, display-state snapshots, registry exports, existing backups, and relevant application settings.
- Added Reset display cache (final repair) for persistent duplicated-display or association problems. The operation creates backups and a Journal before clearing Windows display caches, then requires an immediate restart.
- Added an in-app About CXT (MeowLove) entry that opens the official Version 2 release and introduction article.
- Improved recovery guidance for display changes that do not appear after application or are later overwritten.
- Added guidance for remote-control, streaming, cloud-gaming, and display-management software that may switch display sessions, create virtual displays, or overwrite resolution and scaling settings.
- Improved documentation for choosing virtual-resolution magnification and Windows display scaling.
About
WinSuperResolution is created by CXT, also known as MeowLove.
- Website: www.cxthhhhh.com
- Version 2 release and introduction: WinSuperResolution: Windows HiDPI-Style Scaling V2
Important Notes
- Virtual-resolution capability changes the set of desktop modes that Windows and the graphics driver may offer. It does not add physical panel pixels or provide GPU rendering supersampling.
- After applying a capability plan, restart Windows or reinitialize the display stack if requested, then choose the intended available desktop resolution in Windows Display Settings.
- On lower-resolution displays, start at 110% and test in 10% increments. Choose the first comfortable balance between workspace, clarity, and readability.
- Registry configuration rows are not physical-display counts. If a display is shown as
CandidateorConfiguration conflict, do not apply display-mode, scaling, or virtual-capability changes. - If a problem persists, export a diagnostic package and attach it to a GitHub Issue.
Requirements
- Windows 11 24H2 or later
- x64 system
- Administrator permission
Upgrade

WinSuperResolution v2.2.0
WinSuperResolution v2.2.0
This release improves display-association safety and diagnostic collection.
Improvements and Fixes
- Fixed a case where one physical monitor could appear as multiple active displays.
- Multiple registry configuration roots matching the same Windows display are now marked as
Configuration conflict. - Virtual-resolution capability changes are disabled when the active registry configuration cannot be identified safely.
- Improved display diagnostics, including:
- Windows
DISPLAYnname - Monitor device ID and device path
- EDID information
- Connection technology
- Current display mode and scale
- Windows
- Replaced
Copy Diagnostic SummarywithExport Diagnostic Package. - Diagnostic packages now include:
- Application logs
- Operation journals
- Existing registry backups
- Display-state snapshots
- Application settings
GraphicsDrivers\ConfigurationGraphicsDrivers\ConnectivityGraphicsDrivers\ScaleFactors- Current-user
PerMonitorSettings - Windows version and build information
- Fixed diagnostic export failures caused by long temporary paths and long monitor identifiers.
- New per-monitor scale backups use short hash-based filenames while preserving the full registry path in the Journal.
- Updated application version to
2.2.0.0. - Updated English, Simplified Chinese, and Russian localization.
Diagnostic Package Location
Diagnostic packages are created at:
diagnostics\WinSuperResolution-diagnostic-*.zip
Safety Notes
- Direct desktop-mode changes still require an
Active + Exactdisplay association. - When the current registry configuration cannot be identified reliably, the application remains read-only.
- Registry capability changes create backups and Journals before modification.

Version v1 archive backup generation in 2024-2025
Usually not recommended used, we are refactoring the latest version of V2.
The current V1 version is open source because we are cleaning up local files to avoid occupying local disk space.
